wowzers. way too good. i want to live a life where gods light shines. jesus help me on my journey. let people see you through me. thank you for this mans life and for being a blessing in his life.
Does anybody know that you're a Christian by your actions or does everybody think that you're a Christian because you're acting? Gosh that hit me!!! GREAT POEM!!
Deuteronomy 21:18-21. If you look at the verses, it's not a one-time disobedience that deserves death, it's a continual dishonoring and disobeying of parents. It's not left up to only the parents judgement, but the elders as well. It's also not the parents that stone the child, but the men of the city. It's all to illustrate that the punishment for sin is death.
@willjohnson456 Jesus is the fulfillment of the law. This means that we are no longer bound by civil or ceremonial laws that were meant for the nation of Israel as preparation for the coming of the Messiah. Some Christian denominations still do follow the Sabbath. In general, most Christian denominations would argue that the Sabbath is a gift; we should rest in God and for God, but trying to obey rules in order to earn salvation is legalism.
@willjohnson456 Yes; most Christians do.Read any of the Gospels and you'll find that Jesus constantly discussed them and expanded their purview and meaning. In regards to the Sabbath, Jesus criticized people who wouldn't do good on the Sabbath if it could be considered "work". He also states that the Sabbath was made for man, not the man for Sabbath, so that it is ours to enjoy.
@msd2012 Yes. I am talking about work. Even in Numbers 15:32-36 picking up sticks was seen as work and the person was killed. So did someone change the rules of the Sabbath day?
@willjohnson456 I had that same question not too long ago. The rules of the Sabbath still apply, but we are also given grace through Christ Jesus. I feel if it is necessary that you work on the sabbath then by all means do so, and continue to live a righteous life in all areas. Also you may want to read matthew 12...be blessed
@Kohria I have a question. What if all the laws of the Torah were put into practice today. Would you want to follow such laws as stoning your disobedient son to death, burning to death prostitutes, killing homosexuals, and killing adulterers? If so, why? If not, why?
@willjohnson456 no because that's legalism. refer to jpraab's comment, he explained it perfectly. jesus was fulfillment of the law that is now obsolete.
@Kohria That's why I said if. So hypothetically speaking if the laws in the Torah were in practice would you want to follow laws such stoning your disobedient son to death, burning to death prostitutes, killing homosexuals, and killing adulterers? If so, why? If not, why?
@willjohnson456 why are you pressing for an obvious answer? does anybody in the world want to do what you just listed? dont really get why you are not being direct and asking about hypotheticals. are you trying to get at something else here?
@Kohria Here are the laws in the Torah I am talking about in case you didn't know. Deuteronomy 21:18-21, Leviticus 21:9, Leviticus 20:13, Leviticus 20:10
@willjohnson456 You asked the same question 4 times and I answered you. Just admit that you are out to troll Christians and have yourself set on blind ignorance by ignoring logical answers.
@willjohnson456 who knows, I was never born in ancient Israel so I have no idea how I would have thought. All I know is that it doesn't apply in the modern world.
@Kohria You clearly don't want to answer my hypothetical questions. It's okay though. I know you wouldn't want to follow those laws that are in the Torah that's probably why you don't want to answer the questions.
@willjohnson456 I probably would not want to. Your question sounds almost rhetoric or a "trap" because anyone in the modern world who is sane would say no. If you're going to ask a hypothetical question you should have some form of objective. Right now, you're proving nothing by asking hypotheticals.
@Jondadon2006 I was asking him if the laws of the Torah were put into practice today would he want to follow the laws of the Torah. Such laws as stoning disobedient sons to death, killing homosexuals, killing adulterers, and burning to death prostitutes.
@willjohnson456 First, the laws you are referring to in your discussion with you and Kohria were exclusive to the Jews under the old covenant. When Jesus was sacrificed, He ratified the new covenant with his people. According to this new covenant, we are to love our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves. Plain and simple. Therefore, you cannot say that we fail in our faith because we don't practice the laws of the old covenant. (cont.)
@willjohnson456 Second, your hypothetical question about following the law of that time and culture is of moot point. It would be like saying because you don't like the laws your country/state/municipality of birth adheres to, you shouldn't have to believe in or follow them. Of course you are going to follow the laws of the land you were born into because you will learn to regard them as just. To deny them and break them would make you a criminal, now wouldn't it?
@Zombieslayer5P Well, according to the law you would be considered a criminal. So if you were living in ancient Israel and had a loved one that was an adulterer would you be ok with stoning them to death?
@willjohnson456 I already answered your question. It wasn't that difficult. If you cannot put 2+2 together, it's not my fault. Any furtherance of the issue on your part is pointless.
@Zombieslayer5P So I am sure if you were living in ancient Israel you would be ok with stoning your disobedient son to death, burning your daughter to death if she was a prostitute and being stoned to death if you didn't obey the Sabbath day.
dang.... when i was listening to this i heard the dear satan poem before and i was contemplating deleting all of my music, this just confirmed my actions!
I've been struggling with a personal sin that has been knocking me down countless times. One minute I don't do it, the next I do. This poem has really inspired me to get serious and work harder to focus on the things of God and not dwell on sinful desires or thoughts. I don't want to deny Christ or hurt him any longer. I want to be a real Christian, not only in the sight of people, but most importantly in the sight of God.
@aeromaximon "It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." - Gal5:1 This means that you are already free if you are in Christ. I can do all things from the One who strengthens me. "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." - Phil4:13
Praise jesus! I find myself sometimes wanting to evangelize to strangers around me, sometimes i get scared because i dont know how to approach it, but then realized its not all about just walking up and mentioning jesus , its your lifestyle, its in your love for him.. Your testimony, knowing how to discern when you can talk about it or when you cant( ie work)
