RIP, he was a good man from what I have heard. I lived in New Zealand for over a year, which makes me one on a handful of Americans that realize how much of an icon he is to you Kiwi's.
Man! he was the only living New Zealander to be on our bank note. Oh, well. He was a gr8 man. he WAS new zealand (which, btw is a cool country) may he R.I.P.
Hes was not just the man that climbed mount everest he was also a very generous and amzing man, take for instance he set up a charity to help people in tibet from going blind because of there high alititude he saved many many people from going blind. no nothings wrong with you not mourning but pay a little respect for this amazing man
A great Totara of our nation has fallen. A very, very sad occasion. He will be missed greatly by not only New Zealanders, but also by everyone he touch all over the world
i dont think its an over statement to say hes one of the most deserving heros of our time. never became full of himself on fame, great down to earth moral character did so many good things for the world.
As a young person, I think MTV needs to dedicate multiple complete back to back days of programming to educate young people of the true valor and moral character of Sir Ed...if anything, this needs to be done to balance out the crap thats being pushed out that promotes the glamourous party life and not much else.
RIP Sir Ed
Although you have departed us in body, may your legend live on in the morality and compassion of the people whose lives you have touched
I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Edmond about7 yeas ago, where he was the key note speaker at a confrence and I was the sound man. One great guy to talk to, and will be hugely missed.
Never again are you people going to see a chap from our shores move the planet so much, he will be remembered for so much of what this planet strives for, but cannot attain, that is, love of your fellow man, and goodwill and kindness in all that you wish to do, but never find the time for
sir ed will be missed by all, sad thing is people trying to profit, like on trade me peole selling sir ed memoribilia for a profit, i can imagine them waiting for him to pass so they can auction it, well shame on them, also the media will be all over the story for weeks, which isint fair for his family to be in the spotlight when they are getting over their own personal grief. a tradgic loss for all kiwis, sir ed, i hope you rest now, high in the sky again!
He paved way for other climbers to achieve what he did.. Because of him he inspired Filipinos like Leo Oracion and Rome Garduce to reach the top of the Everest. God bless his soul.RIP
ha ha ha...are americans that dumb? No offense..Anyway, you are right. He is the man. He will always be remembered not only for the first to climb Mt. Everest but as well as his generosity and charitable works.
Most Americans know who he is, except high school students, who aren't taught about him because too many white males have been successful and it's not fair apparently...
the knowledge Sir Edmund gave us, is the way more people should think and act to others and their environment. Have a good lasts climb Sir Edmund. Strenght to his family and friends. CU on summit.
His still alive lar..
