@FeuerimKopf Check your account info on your PS3. Technically you should be able to download it on your PS3....If I remember right the PS1 classics are some of the few downloads that work on both systems without needing a specific PSP or PS3 version like other downloads (namely the SNK stuff...)

The colours look to be better here than on my PC version. A few questions...

Is the framerate higher than the PSX ver (ie. >30 on field, >15 in battles)? Does it have smooth texture filtering?

Also, as I want a proper aspect ratio and framerate, I want the NTSC version over PAL. Is it possible to access the US PSN store from a UK PAL console/ISP?

@leck0rkuchen Have to agree with you. I was a little shocked with how good it looked on the PSP (On youtube). I have a new LG 1080p tv and it looks just like the ps1 version on the ps3. It's a little disappointing but I've played 14 hours already in a few days so I'm not complaining. I really wish they had put in more effort to port this classic game though... My favourite FF out of them all.

Look at the ppl on PC, fans made PSOne games look almost PS2 like, they put a lot of effort into it, just to play their favorite games and share it with others. Now take a look at Sony and its backward compatibility, its there and thats it. Theres a machine with Cell + nVidia graphics and it looks like crap. And agreed its my favorite FF too. Cheers.

The loader lets you chose any resolution you want and applies anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering to the 3d models but the backgrounds, battle screen, and field map are very low quality. Overall I would say the pc version is the best if you have the patients to tweak it. Second best would be a PS1 emulator cause you can add filters to make it look better. PS3 strictly plays the original no enhancement added.

To my oppinion, when squaresoft quited (Afther ff 10) and became square-enix, all games sucked. x-2 12 13. The fighting system wassent the same. 13 is the most facked up version i have played. Just pres XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX­XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and sometimes switch class for healing. Thats it!!!!!. It sucks...

The game itself was made by Sqauresoft and released in japan while the company was still known as Sqauresoft. At most the only thing Enix can be blamed for is the translation and perhaps the changes in the international version.

FF9 is almost on it's level to me, but for some reason, I couldn't stand to play FF8 past the part where the spider robot chases you and you have to make it back on shore. It just didn't "captivate" me like the other ones did.

@EarthlingChild Ace Combat 2 wasn't bad looking if I remember rightly, Gran Turismo was released same year, FF8 was only a couple of years after it and on the same system etc. The backgrounds in FF7 weren't awful, I'll give you that. But the characters looked plain horrible. Not knocking your original comment either, FF7 isn't overrated at all, it was an awesome game. I just didn't like the graphics :)

PS1 games cannot run true HD, instead sony add some filter to the games before releasing them on PSN so it gives off the appearance of being in HD as well as resolve any compatibillity issues with using a HDMI lead and so on, but i agree it looks amazing none the less

No. However, while playing the game, you can hit the Home button on the PS3 controller, and then go to screen settings and change it so that the game takes up the whole screen; however, it will be a stretched screen. The game was made before widescreen formatting became popular, so the game never had a 16:9 format.
