There are very tight tolerance roller guides at the top and bottom near the sprockets aligning the chain before it rolls on. The bouncing you are seeing is on the loose side of the chain and not the drive side. Scores of runs and no problems with the chain so far.
@TraderTurok I saw the rollers on your build blog - a neat solution, too, I thought - but since it looks, viewed from behind, like the loose side and the opposite side bounce close to each other I wondered if there wasn't some danger. Thanks for clearing that up.
Isn't that chain liable to bind, with all that bouncing around?
