I'm sure the brutal and effective stuff is there buy all I ever seem to see are ridiculously high kicks, pseudo Aikido and breakfalls that are designed to look good but which would see you maimed if you were forced to use them on the street.
@baldieman64 If you do not think this is a good demo or this would not work on the street you are not verry bright most people cannot fight for shit and would get destroyed by these guys alot of other martial arts styles would get demolished to.
@TheShinobi32 "If you do not think this is a good demo or this would not work on the street you are not verry bright"
What do I know ? I taught Aikido and Japanese Ju-Jitsu for more than 20 years. I have trained extensively in Muay Tai and Bujinkan Ninjitsu and I have more than a passing knowledge of Kali and Wing Chun - and I've used then.
I suspect that you are confusing pretty with practical.
BTW: I'm bright enough to spell "very" correctly.......
Hapkido is a very amazing and practical martial art, it is similar in a few ways to taekwondo but with no doubt more deadly and useful, i practice taekwondo and we practice a lot of kicking and blocking techniques but we lacks defensive techniques.
@JeanMarcKawas That's right, in Hapkido learned many techniques to fight back, even kicking. If you have a serious chance that excellent practices for broadening your knowledge and implement the Tae Kwon Do!!!
@JeanMarcKawas Hey im the same way i took and like taekwondo but hapkido is way better it has all of the same moves and alot more there are over 2,000 moves in it.
@TheShinobi32 Try a breakfall like those in the demo on concrete ?
Fist things you learn when you practice for real is that the object of a breakfall is to minimize injury to yourself and having already lost the initiative (that's why you are being thrown), to put yourself in a position to cause maximum damage to your opponent.
You turn your feet up so your ankles don't crack on the floor. You go over low to minimize impact and you grab his face, his clothes or his balls on the way over.
@MrDarkVampire666 Thanks for the encouragement. I'm 58, a 3rd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and just started hapkido myself. Hope I've still got what it takes.
@countsmyth Yeah, I'm 58 1/2 and just started hapkido myself. I also have a 3rd degree in Tang Soo Do. But, I can't last nearly as long as I could in my 20's. When you're young you don't realize just how much all those falls take out of you. Stamina is my only concern now.
sweet techniques! to determine which techniques could be used in a practical self defense situation and which ones are for, motor skills, acrobatics, drills, control, and amazing demos. one would need a trained eye.. meaning. people who are talking ill about hapkido don't know the history, and the vicious strikes it has to offer as well. i would love to see this style used in an MMA fight. my dojo practices hapkido. though very little. this opened my eyes to even more! thank you.
@g1zm01 In Korea, the Hapkido is 100% Korean, is an art and very well known and there are schools in almost everyone, so no doubt there is a school in your country.
@lonostrecatala Gracias, compañero del mismo arte, un cordial saludo tambie desde tierras lejanas, que nos une una diciplina tan genial como el Hapkido :)...
Anybody that says hapkido would not work on the street is retarded.
