  • its 5:00 in the morning and this i scaring the shit outta me o.O

  • My main local find however is that there is a monestary located EXACTLY on the Machu Picchu/Soo line. It is called St. Benedicts and is built on the highest point of land above sea level in the southern half of Michigan/s lower peninsula.

More covert discoveries await! I hope.

  • @oleosis007 I remember seeing a large house-like structure with a drive/parking area on the east side of it. As I remember, it is southeast of the City of Lake Orion. I wonder if the local historical society would have info on the naming of Lake Orion and Orion township. My dad grew up near Tawas. I remember him saying that Tawas is a native American name for the pole star.

  • Awesome! I have just started researching the great lakes biome and came across your video. My curiosity was stricken because of the alignment of the great pyramids with the Orion constellation. I live in Lake Orion, Orion Township Michigan and wanted to know if my towns name had any sort of higher reasoning behind it. I guess it just might. I plan to try and pinpoint the exact line leading from the Soo to Machu Picchu walk it and see if I am able to make any local discoveries. The fun begins!

  • @profwito ...Pt 5: one another, consistently followed the same economic principles that we consider today for urban/regional development. In respect to the Great Lakes region, I found evidence of 8000 copper mines that were mined in 2500 BCE (confirmed by carbon-dating). How many people would be required to work that many mines? To tie it to current times. The original 3M company (Scotch Tape, etc.) used the deepest of the ancient shafts at Duluth for their primary mine. Shall I continue?

  • @profwito ..Pt 3: The point is that the layout and development of cities throughout the world has remained rather consistent since ancient times. On the Macro level, cities develop for a number of reasons including resources (e.g., Mining towns), trade routes, and communication. As I looked at many ancient cities, I found that major sites of commerce, religion, and political power not only followed a similar development in their economic development, but their placement in respect to...

  • @profwito ...Pt 3: Detroit's radial pattern of development is modeled after that of Washington DC (the urban planner L'Enfant deliberately used what is referred to as Sacred Geometry to survey and lay out the Nation's Capital). However, from a compendium of sources, I discovered that the principal routes of Gratiot, Woodward, Grand River, and Michigan Ave. date to the time of the Hopewell Mound Builders. In fact, the FAB at WSU sits on the site of of the former Carson Mound. However, I digress..

  • @profwito ...Pt 2: (including Metro Detroit) have semi-high rent at the city center, declining rent that first decrease, and then increase to secondary peaks at business subcenters (for example, Troy, MI). While writing my dissertation about The Development of Business SubCenters in Radial Monocentric Cities, I found comparable models described in the works of Plato and others. In fact, they addressed issues that modern economists are just beginning to rediscover. The common myth is that...

  • @profwito Good question. I went to your channel and look at your background and interests. As I teach Urban Economics at WSU, I will give you a good answer.

Economics focuses on the allocation and use of Land, Labor and Capital. Urban Economics primarily focuses on Land. The payment for Land is Rent, which is determined by location. Traditionally, rent is highest at the city center and decreases at a decreasing rate as we move outward. However, today we are seeing many cities...

  • 1:00 Meridian lines and sunrises:

Meridian lines run north and south and are not used to sight sunrises.

What are Pythagorean Triangles? 30-60-90 , 20-70-90 . Aren't those just right triangles?

  • @followingtheplanets 1. Correct. Meridian run N-S. Sunrises and sunsets are always going to be somewhere else lest the sun just "pops up" and immediately disappears. Refer to 22:18/30:39. I did a separate animation--Nebra Disc & Solstice at Mettleberg Hill (end of this playlist) that illustrates your point. 2. Yes they are both right triangles. There is a large set of so-called "Pythagorean triangles." Euler did a nice treatise on these (see "Special Right Triangles" on Wikipedia. However, ...

  • @followingtheplanets ...what we know as the body of math known in the west as Pythagorean, appears in the Sastra (Sastric texts) of the Vedic literature of India about 600 years before Pythagoras. The Sastra was the "math book" used by architects and others in ancient India.

  • Bravo. Great stuff. Thank You.

  • @SurvivalCell Thanks for the applause. It's greatly appreciated.

  • Nice work John. How curious is that. A nexus of the world those Great Lakes.

  • @geometryofplace Thanks Peter. I couldn't have done it without you.
