It depends on the type (degree) of the disorder. Alopecia Totalis is loss of scalp hair. Alopecia Universalis is total loss of body hair. It can go back and forth between all degrees...you can lose all body hair, then grow some back.

You are lovely and I love the scarf ideas. I don't have Alopecia, I simply choose to go bald because I hate all of the fuss, bother, time and money spent on hair because in the end "it's not about the hair" just like Farrah said.

I love being different and not the clone of another person. Being bald does give us the freedom to be who we really are: our "authentic selves."

You look better bald than with the wig and head coverings. You are actually quite an attractive woman. Being bald gives you a uniqueness that sets you apart from the crowd. From a man's perspective, unique features on a woman are quite the turn on. It gets boring seeing the same old hair styles, the same old women copying the latest celebrities from the magazines and tv. Bald women=sexy. Good luck with everything!!

Alopecia totalis is the loss of all head hair.

Alopecia areata is just patches.

That's what I thought at first, too. But, as I understand it, Alopecia Areata is the overall term for the entire disease, as well as for the loss of patchy areas. Alopecia Areata Totalis refers to the loss of all scalp hair due to the disease, and Alopecia Areata Universalis is where all body hair is lost.
