Actually the conquistadors did not come in the name of God. They came in search for wealth. They originally came looking for a faster trade route to Asia, but ending up obtaining wealth by mining for gold and setting up plantations. The missionaries, benedictines, were separate from these conquistadors and often got into conflict with them.
