DO NOT DELETE PREFETCH!!! It slows down your computer if you do. Sure, it is safe but it makes an impact on the speed programs can startup and how fast your computer boots. One thing i recommend also, type "Msconfig" on the program RUN. Press on autostart and click on those you dont need like Skype, Itunes or whatever. What it does it all those programs wont start when the computer starts and that makes your computer ALOT faster.

IF you delete the prefetch folder, it wont make your computer run faster or give you much space. Pretty much what it does is making everything goes faster, when you remove it it will go faster for a while but it wont help. So i recommend that you DONT remove anything from there. I can agree that %Temp% command is making your computer faster.

I keep losing memory from my hard drive. ( I'm noticing by a gadget that I have that tells me how much memory I have currenly.) Can anybody help me. I tried everything. I tried to do everything. I clean the Prefetch folder, the %temp% folder, I clean the hard drive with my anti virus, yeah i'm getting some MB back but that isn't nothing compared to the GB that I lost. Help me.

Good video although it's a bad idea to clear the prefetch folder.

Emptying the Prefetch folder will actually reduce performance, because Windows has to re-create the trace files the next time you run a program.

The Prefetch directory analyzes files that you use at startup and when you run programs. It creates an index to the location of those files on the HDD, including the order in which theyre loaded. This allows programs to start quickly after the first time you use them.

one other thing you should try is go to more option in disk clean up and go to the bottom and delete system restores it cleaned up 20GB ! now that awesome try it out !
