  • i was reading a excerpt the titanic last week,an i came across the unsinkable molly brown woman,i really think paula deen should've played, ponly if she were famous when the movie came out.

  • give me the scoop on you and paula.

  • my best friend works for tv station in SC. He was interviewing Paula, who I've met before at a cookbook signing. My friend was telling Paula how big of fan I was (I made GOT BUTTA shirts for the book signing) and she just looked at the camera and said... "HEY TYLER" unprompted! I was thrilled!

  • What regions to people talk like Paula Dean in? Would she also be considered mid-western? Sorry, i'm from Cali.

  • People only talk like Paula around the Eastern Georgia coast or at least that has been my experience. A lot of the older Georgian women in my family call it the "Sweetwater" accent. People ask them to talk all the time when they travel and it took them years to figure out it was because they had a Southern accent, a really regional Southern accent.

  • Thanks for explaining, I really appreciate it. I love Paula Dean's accent! It's the best!

  • PS I love her cooking too!

  • It's also important to mention that this sort of an "Old Money" southern accent. Many older southerners from wealthy areas may have this accent. A poorer person in the south often speaks a cross between this and African American Vernacular English.

And so happy I could help. There's a whole lot of crazy ladies like Paula down here, you should drop by and meet them sometime!

  • I'd love too and thanks again!!!
