  • my dad bilt this car from nufing v

  • the driver had put in 4 lap b4 hand m8

  • ariel atom v8, 1.15.1.

  • zonda R 1.06

  • stigs to bizzy driving f1 cars to worry about this

  • Ferrari FXX 1.10...

  • the lap record is a veyron super sport that weighs nearly 2 tonnes this looks like a stripped out racer, so ten u got to compete with aston martin dbr9 tht did i in 1min9secs n the paganni zonda uber thing tht 1min8secs so well off

  • Eat your heart out. And film it, might make up for me watching this.

  • It is iritating how slow this chap is .....

  • Fastest street legal vehicles are the atom V8 is 1.15 and BMW S1000RR at 1.16.1, much faster and cheaper!

  • @racefactory900 I don't know about cheaper. The Atom V8 is over $100,000 and the car in this video is a kit car, the rolling chassis for which is about $15,000. Of course you'd need to buy an engine and transmission, among other parts, but it still probably wouldn't get near the Atom's price tag.

  • Stig did it in 59s with a F1 car :)

  • Nice sound quality.

  • The audio blow me away. Literal.

  • It's not a Caterham....

  • The stig wont be beating any times anymore, he was fired

  • God I want a caterham with flappy paddles

  • and you lifted off in the followthrough, still well done, nice clean lap

  • Plansmotorsport your a dick the stig did a lap time of 59 secs in a Renault f1 car!

  • Cut Willson, Ran wide at Chicago, Too much braking at Hammerhead, Completely missed apex at the Follow Through. The stig, even when he is not used to a car will not do anything of these things. Plus, they could easily be slicks.

  • @william59glersh Well it's not really fair, because we don't know how many laps this driver put in before this one, and we don't know how many laps the Stig does in order to get his best time. But this is a street legal car on street tires.

  • looks like a tin coffin

  • @sirlonghair well if he crashed it would be a perfect tin coffin

  • the stig did it in a grocery geter

  • Comment removed

  • who's duncan cowper and why cant he beat stig in the same car?

    wuss

  • Not a fair comparison, the cars are completely different. The Koenigsegg would be a lot more comfortable to drive. 7s are annoying to commute in, the wind is terrible, but for some reason I do it anyway. I usually wear a helmet when i drive mine because the wind hurts my ears after a bit.

  • Very fast and impressive but imo not a real car, its some tubing, with an engine, wheels and some seats thrown in.

  • @AndrewStrang It has four wheels and an engine, therefore it's a real car. Would you remove any other cars from the flawed Top Gear lap times board if they were lacking creature comforts, like the Atom, Caterhams, Ascari A10, Exige etc etc...?

Honesty, you have precisely fuck all idea of the engineering behind this. You don't just bolt random bits together and hope to beat cars costing 15 times as much!

  • @PrivateCustard Who are you to comment on my knowledge of engineering when you know nothing about me. Obviously the cars well engineered or it wouldn't be as fast as it is round the track, I just dont class it as a real car because it does not have a roof , doors etc it is by definition a car obviously but I dont class it as such its a toy imo not a car.

  • @AndrewStrang Toy's don't push out 777bhp per tonne!!

  • excatly how can they even boast about matching the koenigsegg's time when they did it in a completely different car :s

  • I'll bet the Stig could do a faster lap than this guy in that same car.

  • to guitard..you are right. the stig would destroy the lap record in a car like this. smaller, lighter, faster then the koenigsegg

  • that car is not road legal at all!!!

  • yes they are.. almost every lotus 7 replica is street legal.

  • you say almost because the rest are racing cars....what difference has the racing version got to this road version? apart from slicks and maybe the set-up and tuning?

  • those cars are sold as kits, put what ever motor fits in there, with your own fabrication. the difference between a road legal and a race only is just the functioning headlights, blinker and stuff like that. if you have all that working properly you could register the car as a kit car, and don't even have to go to emission

  • totally crazy or what man? i have seen cars that are written-off look 100x more safe than that lol....still imagine doing the stretch to work in that? hahaha

  • yes it is

  • yes i know....didnt you read the comments below?

  • Now that's a proper sports car.

  • great lap!

  • stig would do it in 1.16 something, there`s potential left in a few curvs...

  • the FXX was with slicks so it did not count

  • Stig with ferrari FXX => 1:10

  • You mean Michael Schumacher with FFX

  • Stig with a F1 car => 59 sec

  • yes that's right ^^ but a F1 car is not very the same category that's why I haven't mentionned it but you're right anyway 59s is the fastest lap ever on the track.

  • Yeah true.. but WHAT A LAP!

  • Also, one more correction,. The FXX even on road tyres isn't a road legal car.

You pay a million and they loan it to you for trackdays.......and then take it away again at the end of the day!

  • yes he has

  • its your dads car. i have touched it.

  • u r all cocks my dad made this kit car for 50 grand

    and there were no slicks

  • i have touched this car.

  • You'd think this effort is top of the drawer until you watch the video.

His lines in at least 3 corners a waaaaaay off.

This is obviously a very fast vehicel but it can go much faster than that if driven more accurately.

  • slicks.

  • The stig aint one person so doesnt matter if u kno one.

  • I love watching people arguing about who the Stig is, as if one of them actually knows for a fact who it is!! Forget comedy shows, just spend half an hour of 1 evening on youtube looking at all the Stig videos and you can be laughing for days. And some people even get angry and start calling people nasty things, its pathetic!! And as a result. . .absolutely hilarious.

  • That thing looks like a golf kart with cojones!

  • Omg u sad ppl why are u analicing each stick an lap times and making romers as u go. It is just a tv show with a gd driver in it carm down and stop this madness of researching and watching what every stig dose just no need !!!

  • "Omg u sad ppl why are u analicing each stick an lap times and making romers as u go."

    Once more in English please?

  • Even if this was a production car, without slicks, the enzo FXX RAPED the gumpert with a 1:10

  • true enough, but this car could be built for £20-30k. You'd spend that on one session in the FXX.

  • actually u just spend 1 mill and its yours.

  • i dont give a shit about the 'stig' hype. No man can be the best in any and every car

  • i soooo wanna see what my lat time would be in the lacetti

  • FYI - The renault F1 car actually holds the lap record at under a minute.

  • the 1.17 is the record for street legal cars. Much faster times have been done by racecars on this track

  • @muki1016 This is a street legal car. Dax built two of them, one for Duncan and one as a demo car. Both are totally useable on the street, including speed bumps. They have road legal tyres and are registered, taxed and tested.

I went out in the sister car, and it was faster on the uptake than the Zonda F Roadster I went out in at a later date. It's also quicker than my GSX-R1100!

  • @muki1016 ain'ts you twitches

  • @muki1016

fastest stret legal car did this lap in 1:12:xx (on street legal tyres) and later 1:09:xx (on racing slicks)

  • @kars1995 yeah, and Top Gear still say it won't clear a speed bump....lol

  • @muki1016 f1 reanult did it in 51 seconds

  • @muki1016 and the ultima GTR and the veyron super sport.

  • The stig doesn't spend allot of time with one car. Im sure that if he would have a caterham with the same specs and some practice he could beat that laptime.

  • likewise the stig knows this track like the back of his hand.... so it equals itswelf out trust me

  • Actually no, while there is a "main stig" that does a decent amount of testing, for alot of the much faster cars they use factory test drivers and dress them like the stig. This has been rumored for awhile but if you look at the lines taken you see a clear difference

  • you wouldn't necessarily take the same line in every car - as each car has better/worse handling you have to adjust the line.

if they were to use different drivers for each car it wouldn't be as accurate, as not all test drivers have the same proficiency. Having the same Stig gives more consistency.

The word you use shouldn't be "actually", but "maybe".

  • Its the "same" stig for the low end stuff, but NONE of the high end or special stuff is the same person, and its not just the car. The F1 drivers for example all take the same line in the reasonable priced car, but the main stig who knows the track takes a different one.

You also have to remember that most factories don't want to risk it. Clearly the same stig isn't going to be jumping snow mobiles as the same one that tests renault F1 cars.

  • they all take the same line in the reasonable priced car because its the same car.

If it's a production car that's for sale there is no reason NOT to put the true Stig in - remember, Top Gear is the most watched and distributed TV show in the world - what they say, goes. So, if they want to put the Stig in the Zonda or the Koernigsegg, they will do.

You need look no further than the Koernigsegg incident. The manufacturer's test driver would never have risked his job by crashing it.

  • well said very well said, there are a lot of people as fast a Massa or raikonian(however you spell that) I would bet that some are even faster just they don't do motorsport

  • @rolandmik I'm sure he could too, seeing as how he's a professional Race car driver. Or numberous ones.

  • btw this is a catraham but its got a hybusa engine so it will easliy do 200mph lol

  • errr... a little thing called air resistance and weight brings the top speed down loads fool :P

  • its a turbo busa engine so it could be making up to 600bhp. in a car that small it will easily do 200mph and it will get there quite fast. also weight dosnt affect top speed.

  • Hybusa engine with 600bhp..... perhaps for one lap... furthermore the windscreen added would drop the drag coefficent by 2 points...

  • the drasg coefficent is more affected by the shape of teh back of the car that is actuly quibe bad on a caterham but the cer is still small and with 600 bhp it will easily get to 200mph.

  • It looks a bit like a caterham , or lotus super 7 , but they have an equvalent power to weight ratio to a konigssegg ( dont know how to spell it) give or take a bit

  • what's the car?

    really fast i think,,,,

  • Dax Rush Hayabusa 1300cc Turbo, if you do a sarch on here for (Dax Rush at Brands Hatch) there is some vid of the new car !!! best watched in high quality

  • thanks^^

  • i reckon if u gave that car to the stig he woud hav been way quiker

u make a right mess of the follow through

    cool vid though

  • whow!! this is the first time ive seen the whole track like this.

  • He had the Followtrough completely wrong something like 10 feet too wide, losing a lot of speed. And then, with a car like this that I bet has a million horsepower and weights 100 Kilos he just matches the Stig in a Koenigsegg that is a much heavier car? (It is pretty powerful but I don't think the power to weight ratio is from its side).

Tsk.. Don't name "Stig" without a reason

  • shame the wind noise drowns out the engine note. Good effort ....... but what would Stiggy get in the Dax ;o)

  • Much higher, i can assure you that, besides, this has flappy gear peddals, the koenigsegg didn't, it doesn't change that much, but it is a difference.

  • the difference is power/weight ratio and the serious grip that this thing has, plus electric shift on the steering wheel, just needs a touch to change gear... AND he messed up a couple of things

  • I've been out in one of these (Dax built two of them). I don't think the shift is electric, I think it's all mechanical. Two lovely curved chrome levers either side of the steering boss.

But the GSXR-1300 engine has a lovely tight gearbox anyway so not a lot of efffort is needed to flick between gears.

I've been out in many supercars (inc. the Zonda ) and superbikes, this thing was off the scale, awesome!

Power/weight ratio of this is around 770-800bhp per tonne, it's almost 400bhp!!

  • this doesnt count, doesnt follow speedbump or sleeping police man test ^^

  • thing is, can this car get over road humps? if not, under top gear rules this lap time can't be counted... lovely engine noise though

  • Trust me, it'll go over a speed hump. It's also road legal too.........although the lack of a windscreen is 'interesting'!!

    (Speaking from experience)

  • The real question here is, which would you prefer to be? the stig in a comfortable Koenigsegg, or an idiot in a silly little track car?

  • well in the defense of the silly little track car, it probably costs a tenth of the koenigsegg..

  • yes, but you are getting literally a tenth of a car...i mean no windshield, no proper cabin for people to sit in...and if you're as big as Jeremy Clarkson, those teeny tiny footwells could prove tight.

  • The real question is, which would you prefer to be? An idiot making stupid comments on youtube, or someone enjoying themselves on a track in a very quick car?

  • neither, i'd be someone enjoying themselves in a NICE car.

  • Like you'd be out doing anything outside paintsniffer, you've got 17,000 video views lol you sad old housebound twat. I bet you don't even have a car lol

  • I do have 17,000 video views, is it a crime that i like videos now? are you going to deliver some more stereotypical crap, perhaps about my username this time?

  • This TG track really does have some credibility it seems.

  • Can you not figure a way to eliminate the wind noise so we can enjoy the sound of the motor??

If you had a bit of tape laying around to cover or wrap the mic your video would be enjoyable to watch.

Thanks for your consideration. Nice car.

  • Hi here's a link to a vid of the new car on it's first shake down, worth watching in high quality better sound!!!

  • can't seem to post a direct link but if you search on here under Dax Rush at Brands Hatch should find it.

  • wait..is this even a road legal car??

if it isnt...stig has done some faster times..

  • Stig did 1:17.9 with a 260hp seven, whats the power of this turbo busa engine?

  • was that a caterham?? .

  • it was fucking fast for what it is

  • Dax Rush Hayabusa turbo

  • 1.19 if I calculate it right.

Isn't that the same time as the Radical did with the stig ?

There wure faster lap times then that : like that DBR9 but also a roadlegal one !

  • This is miles off Stigs record, the F1 car was less than a minute and the Aston Martin DBR9 did it in 1.06 i think.

  • You can't say eat your heart out stig if it's a different car dumbass! the koenigsegg would be more impressive

  • The Stig is Vitantonio Liuzzi

  • No because the Stig is English.

  • e to mare ela puttana?

  • e to mare ela na baldracca?

  • HA HA LOL XD

  • Nice video. Good to see a different view of the track. Nice car too.

  • How about trying with same car?

  • The Caparo T1 did it in 1:10 and the F1 car did it in 59 secs. 1:17s nothing special.

  • the stig did the track in 1:08 i think, with a caparo t1

  • the idea if the stig is to get the cars round as fast as he can, not to see how fast he can personaaly get round the track

  • jajajajajaja

  • he is a power ranger , dur its the blue one

  • stig did this course in 1:13 in the ultima

  • anwyway- both the Gumpert and the ascari a10 have gone round the track faster than this

  • LOL, A power ranger.. Good one!

  • Er, Perry mcCarthy was an F1 driver for Team Modena back in the early 90's........

The current stig has also posted a 1.10 in the new Caparo T1.

  • stig had done 57 seconds in a f1 car also

  • That was kovalainen!

  • ....... nope

  • *59 seconds in an r24

  • Edhilthoniel

you know knowthing, stag 1 was perry mccarthy and stig 2 is ben collins, neither are good enough to be f1 drivers or rally drivers for tht matter, though they are both excellent nevertheless!

VR 46 is the greatest, don't know what i'm on about? view 'valentino rossi tribute'

  • Oh come on, really... We all saw that this car had tons of more grip (and perhaps more acceleration, as I saw when he was in the follow-through). The Stig is an amazing driver... If he wanted, he could probably compete in Formula 1. That's my opinion.

  • stig did a 117.6 in a gunpert apollo

  • Duncan was on standard E-marked road tyres, pump fuel, no corners on the track were cut, so it is a real acheivement - but both Plans and Duncan still think it can be improved upon.

  • all so car was mot and tax

  • how is this equaling stigs time. if driver and stig both used same car on random track the stig would destroy the driver. the stig destroyed a PRO TOURING CAR DRIVER AND WAS 4 SECS DWN TO START go figure. that guy stig beat did it for a living. this driver no better than EVERAGE JOE

  • That's exactly what it is....Equaling a TIME. It's just to prove that you don't have to spend hundreds of thousands to have a quick car. Duncan is not saying that he's a better driver. Will everyone stop being so bloody negative. The boy done good!

  • When did that happen.

  • IMO this just shows how good the supercars are.

This is a track car, and there matching it's times.

  • lol the stig would ave been "full on" on the 4th last turn :P

  • The Stigs done 59 seconds In an F1 car! But If the stig was driving this he would get into the 1.16....

  • The guy driving that car was Duncan Cowper!!

  • theres a new fastest car now

  • the fastest car now is the gumpert Apollo

  • that's a track car, if Lordstig was allowed to pace the track with a fullon track car/racer, he'd do a 1:07 easy

  • damn right he would

beating a proper supercar with a high output motor and minimal weight isn't like beating it outright.

granted, solid driving, not trying to detract there. but as many have said, track-day cars and street-legal cars are far from apples and oranges

  • This car IS street legal!!! I know the car well, I built the motor!

  • Put the stig in that car and it would blates get a better lap time than that.

  • He really would, I saw at least 5 places where this driver could have done much better.

  • Yeh m0ost of the corners

  • this is a track car- of course there are several which are faster than the ascari A10 but they are not allowed on the board because their nose has to be high enough to go over speedbumps- which this clearly isnt.

  • The Ascari can clear speed bumps, it has a hydraulic lifting nose, and the Harrier Jump Jet can certainly clear a speed bump lol

  • i didnt say about the ascari did i????- that is legitimate to go on thje board, wheras track day cars like the caparo t1,this thing and the ultima cant.

  • Tha Dax Rush will easily clear a speed bump, no problem.

  • ascari a10?

  • ultima GTR 1:13 is a road car/kitcar(treaded)

caparo 1:10 sort of road car (treaded)

    DB9R 1:09 racecar (slicks)

F1 58:00 (slicks) or race tires however you look at it

  • well they definitely arent slicks in the f1, just grooved tyres
