@nigahiga878 go to oldapps.com or oldapp.com to downgarde the itunes but first delete the new itunes and download the old itunes and when its pops up and said "the itunes library wont letting because of the new version of itunes," just go to start>search>type: ituneslibrary.itl>and when it shows up just delete it and click the itunes and it shows up. let me know you need help :)

@amajlesi not sure if it wipes, but a way to copy your music & videos to your desktop is an application on the computer called sharepod. I got it a couple of weeks ago and havent gotten any viruses or anything. as for apps, just back it up in itunes. hope it helps

Open the zip file and you should get another file inside. Extract that and your good to go.

If this doesn't work whoever put it on there probaly changed the extension just change where it says zip to the correct file extension. I think it says in the video .iup or something.

If your getting Error Code 20 then your doing it correctly but you just forgot to put it in DFU mode. so restore it, put it in DFU mode, and try to downgrade again. If you get another error code just tell me the number and i can tell you where you messed up.

Go to 3.0 for ipod touch 1G, first download it then shift click restore in itunes and select the file you downloaded it should then update then just update in itunes to get 3.1.2 If you have any problems just message/comment back. Happy to help!

I'm pretty sure you can't upgrade STRAIGHT from a firmware as low as 2.2.1 to 3.1.2.

I know it sucks, but you have to upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.0, THEN upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1.2. That's just how Apple designed it. (I think)
