  • i understand you said pimsluer and teach yourself, but for your phrasebook who do you prefer ? im going to get a swahili one. Your truly gifted good stuff

  • @DBerrGT I would have to go with lonely planet, but any phrasebook would do the job I believe.

  • I recommend re-doing your videos and adding some lighting as well as some editing.

I'm sure you have a wealth of knowledge but your delivery will keep people away.

  • @rfwelsh Yea, I agree. It's time to try and take things to the next level.

  • @laoshu505000 Consider opening up a paypal account to help cover the costs of any equipment you might require. People don't mind giving a few bucks for independents who are out to help others.

  • I have also learned about 6 languages at the same time. If they very different, you cannot mixed them. It is more a problem, if languages are very similar like german/dutch/english or rumantsch grischun/vallader or the frisian languages like fering/öömrang/halunder/sölring/freesk/frasch/mooring/gooshiirde.We all have a nice brain, but no instructionset for this. If my english is not very correct, that's came because I am from Allgäu!

  • Pimsleur Approach is the name of the book, Conversational German.

  • you really help a lot man, im gettin started on a few languages now, who knows who else u motivated, and what kinda life changes u bring on in other people, keep it up dude

  • i have the Portuguese teach yourself series . it looks promising . i have one question if you don't mine . do i just go threw the book from beginning to end or do i need to include the back of the book the the verbs and how to conjugate them . can you give me tips on how to study from that book to achieve fluently . i know the sounds already cause my family is Portuguese . your the best , you are such an inspiration to me .

  • he looks like randy moss

  • Hi, I am about to have to take Spanish or French for 2 years in high school, to graduate. I haven't study any other languages other than English. I do know some words in both languages; however, I don't know which language would be easier to learn. So if anyone could tell me which is easier, please do.

  • @iChanceC the one which you are interested in learning will of course be the easiest .... otherwise they are both pretty similar in difficulty (not very difficult).

But being fluent in both in my opinion spanish is easier than french in almost every regard... pronunciation, grammar, orthography, and amount of vocabulary used in average conversation/writing...

  • Thanks, I have an app on my iPhone that is a translator for both languages. Hopefully, that will make it even easier :)

  • Spanish is easier and more important...

  • Hey Moses,

What do you mean on 'constructions'? The way the use grammar to construct sentences in a book or the syllabus in the book?

    thanks

  • Hi Moses, two other important resources I use when starting to learn a language are bilingual dictionaries and verb tables. And for Turkish/Danish I have bought concise grammars, which are not so overloaded. Fasulye

  • Tenerife, Spain, Africa.

    Nice vids, Moses.

What really impresses me is how you take any criticism and even down-right rude insults right on the chin, don't let them drag you down to being rude too, and catch the critics off-guard with a polite but sincere reply.

I'd like to be as zen as you sometimes.

    Keep up the good work.

    Best wishes,

    Solstice.

  • One thing I've been wondering about is the role the computer plays during study. I know you use it often for chatrooms and the like, but during Bootcamp Mode do you tend to study at the computer much, or away from it at a desk? For me I tend to prefer studying at the computer, since I can control the audio more easily and check things instantly with online dictionaries and whatnot. It's like everything's more conveniently at my fingertips. I know others see the computer as a distraction.

  • Can you recommend any good chatrooms? Thanx man. Im a huge fan of your videos. You deserve to get paid for this.

  • 1)What is the name of that program series you showed at 1.54, because I cant hear its name properly neither see it well on the video?

2)Do you like the rosetta stone series?

  • The ''Teach Yourself'' series. I'm not so much into Rosetta Stone because it's quite limited.

  • As I don't have the time to really go through a Rosetta course thoroughly and give a in depth review, would you be able to elaborate on some of the program's shortcomings and downsides?

  • At 1:54, I believe a Pimsleur course is shown.

  • Sorry you feel that way bro.

  • nice demonstration regardless

  • @tappinasians Fumbling isn't a noun. It's a verb, but you obviously don't know that otherwise you would use it correctly, and not as if it was a noun. You must not understand English very well.

  • @YouStoleMyTube It most certainly is a noun. Welcome to the world of basic word derivation via gerunds. I also invite you to learn about action nominal constructions of which the Possessive-Accusative type is among the acceptable forms they can take in English. Before playing the pathological grammar Nazi, please educate yourself first.

  • Had you ever learn 2 to 4 language at the same time? I wondering how you store different languages vocabulary in your brain.

  • Yea, I've studied many languages at one time.

  • You're amazing! I thought you could only speak those languages now as i see you can even write better Chinese than i am.Wow.

    My favorite language is Japanese,Tamil.

  • Hey dude, can I just say that you are an inspiration to learning languages... your videos are very interesting and im just about to watch through your beginning a language series...

Just want to give a tip, if you want the camera to stop focusing all the time you may want to get a spotlight or something aiming at you or the board.... many consumer video cameras dont cope well in low light and go into panic mode and focus all the time.

  • Ah, thanks for the tip. I will see what I can do about that in the future.

  • Wow I am so lucky to have found this. Were has a person like you been? We need more people like you on Youtube. Keep up the good work ^_^

  • How important is the Pimseleur series in your method?

  • Pimsleur is very good for hearing how words are being pronounced and it teaches students some basics to get the student started in the targeted language.

  • This is great man. You are definitely a gift to the Language Learning Community. Come like you Obama or something lol!

  • Did you only know one language growing up? Or did you grow up with a few?

  • I grew up only using English.

  • Wow, thanks for this so much! I always start from grammar and vocabulary and never even open a phrase-book. Usually I don't know how to use them because I think I will never be in situations that they are talking about. I am so surprised of what I've just heard. Thanks!

  • thanx a lot for the help....now i know how and where to start. insha'Allah ill buy the books i need soon. Jazak'Allah khair (^_^ )

  • good luck to you.
