That's because it IS the same animation. THQ made this game and it uses the Smackdown engine. Only they added in a bunch of cool moves and some standard submission moves (like the leg lock) have been a tad reanimated to look better then they do in the SD games.

It's the same engine as Smackdown and it could have been alot better in some aspects. Like they could have added a bigger variety of moves and it's more like a beat em up then a wrestling game so the opponents dont stay down for long and such. That's a lil summarization, I dont feel like writing a long review right now, hehe. :)

But eh, if you want to know. I just find the game boring. :/ I really tried playing it seriously, I made Teryo and fixed his moveset and played career mode for a while. And it's so god damn boring.. just doesn't provide any simulation. They are using a 15 year old engine and I think they need to update the damn gameplay soon. Not that I have much hope for those games anyway, they stopped being fun with HCTP.
