  • hey im a charro like these people and i was in the same parade. the horse was too tired and they keep pushing him i know these people and i think its stupid what they did. people like this make us look bad

  • wow... i thought it was dead... i was in that parade that year too... dang...!

  • Stupid cowboys! Hopefully they get FINED OR JAILED for this. That is in no way how you treat a downed horse. And to think that the head of the Tucson Rodeo changed its story after seeing it on the local news.

  • What a country. It's illegal to abuse an animal--except at the rodeo. People can get on horses and aggravate the piss out of them without the possibility of prosecution. Ha, no double-standard there!

  • I was standing right there when that happend. I am very glad that you have shown this to people.

I was very disappointed b/c he got back on the horse when he clearly needed to be taken out.

Needless to say, I wont be attending another rodeo

  • Horses aren't shocked at rodeos, and they are certainly not shocked in parades. Why the hell would anyone shock a horse when there are 200,000 people on the sidewalk?

And before you say "OMG they put a strap on that animals balls!!" Realize that about half of those bucking horses are mares.

  • guniter3: Sorry, but horses are regularly shocked at rodeos. Just search "rodeo horse shock" on YouTube, and some of those videos will come up, including the Tucson Rodeo.

  • UGH I was at the parade and there were some horses that looked dehydrated. My heart broke for them, seeing their legs shaking one's hind legs almost collapsed. I really hope they don't abuse these poor animals. =(

  • And how might you know what a dehydrated horse looks like?

  • well assuming they were dehrydated considering they were dripping with sweat like they were doused with a water horse! It doesn t take a damn rockets scientist to see that an animal needs WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im not an idiot is thats what your replying u rude ass human being!

  • Horses sweat like that all the time. You should see what they look like just sitting around in the pasture on a hot summer day, dripping all over. Just because they sweat doesn't mean they are dehydrated. It's normal to sweat. Trying to be civil with you. I'm just informing you as an experienced horse owner. If dehydrated their skin flattens very slow if pinched (not cruel, don't worry), their gums stay white when you push on them, and their flanks are sucked up and appear to stick out.

  • RE: SHARKonlineorg & your statement of "Rodeo people always have a reason for abusing their horses" How dare you make such a statement! There are hefty fines for such a thing. You're quick to judge, but have you ever asked to go behind the scenes at a "real PRCA rodeo" or ask questions? Nobody would ever be denied that cuz there is nothign to hide! I do agree that the horse in the parade should not have been ridden. Don't put blame on the rodeo or parade committe, find that particular man.

  • can the guy that waz pulling the horses tail and kicking it... can he get arrested or be fined for that?

  • He was trying to help it up. You can't really hurt a horse by pulling it's tail, but it could do more damage just to leave it down like that.

  • Thanks for the explanation Mr. Wagner and cancashingranny. I did not see the video as a case for animal abuse at all; but ...I was concerned to hear that the man got back on the horse. If the horse was sick or injured would that not aggrivate things?

  • god...

hate animal abuse...hate how don giro doez hiz stuf

  • Rodeo people always have a reason for abusing their horses. Last year they were caught shocking horses to make them buck out of the chute at the rodeo. Of course, they claimed they were doing the horse a favor.

Five thousand volts of pain to make a tame animal act wild is no favor. The rodeo was urged to adopt a "no shocking" rule this year, but did not. That's how rodeos "love animals."

  • We compete at lost of pro rodeos, never seen them shock an animal before. My husband rides bulls and they DO NOT shock them to buck, that's retarded. They either buck or they don't, that's why some have great careers in rodeos and some are sold because they don't buck. Rodeo people take better care of their animals than most horse owners, this is because they are a source of income for them as well as their partner. If the animal is in pain it will not perform well. Get your facts right.

  • We hate to burst your bubble with the facts, but there is videotape of the shocking you deny happens. Lots and lots of videotape. To see the horses being shocked at the Tucson rodeo simply search "Tucson rodeo" and it is the first video. After that you can check out the rest of our videos for many, many, many more rodeos shocking horses including the NFR in Las Vegas.

  • You are obviously not a horse person. Go and join PETA if you feel that strongly about it, then you will truly see the psychos of this Nation. Funny...because my husband rode at the Tucson rodeo Friday night. Pretty sure people that are actually THERE have more knowledge about this than people like you who believe every video you ever come across. Activists will try to find the worst videos and make them represent ALL rodeos, which is simply not true.

  • You were proven wrong and the best you can do is make a bunch of excuses? "Cowboy up" and admit it, you were wrong and horses are in fact shocked at rodeos.

  • I don't see how I was "proven" wrong on anything. You're really making an idiot out of yourself. So you didn't answer, do you go to rodeos every weekend?

  • Your an idiot

  • Well, sorry, but I attend a lot more events than most people that are in SHARK. Don't you realize they video everything they see, and if ANYTHING happens or if there's an accident, they blast it all over the internet and make it represent all rodeos and horse people? That's what they do, all the time. There are much more important issues in this world. Have you ever been shocked by a hotshot? Doesn't really hurt that bad on a human. Horse's skin is 5 mm thick, ours is 1mm. I

  • cowgirljdc: The fact is that spokespeople for Miller Manufacturing, the maker of the prod, have stated for years that the company's shock devices should NOT be used in rodeos, and should NEVER, under any circumstances, be used on horses, because they are far more sensitive. The electric prod was only made for cattle and hogs, and NOT in an entertainment venue like rodeos.

  • Mr Wagner is exactly correct. If a horse colics, and "twists" a gut while down, they can die in 20 minutes or less. Sometimes it takes a little more than "get up nice horsey" to save their lives. I would rather pull my horses tail & give it a couple kicks, rather than to let it lay there let children see it die. Think about that! Maybe that horse had a tummy ache before the parade started. That can often be hard to detect. Every horse is different, just as is every human.

  • I took this video, not on a cell phone, but on a old digi camera, lol.

The rider was showing off his lasso tricks when this happened.

The video stopped because the battery died, but the rider put the saddle back on and got back on the horse.

  • We are currently investigating the situation. Our first priority is for the safety of all involved in the Tucson Rodeo Parade, especially the magnificent animals featured.

There are some instances where getting a horse back on its feet is a matter of life and death for the animal such as when a horse colics. Until we know more, it would be unfair for us to speculate about the treatment of the downed horse. We will provide further detail as available.

    Herb Wagner

    Tucson Rodeo Parade

  • Mr. Wagner, if you were concerned about the well-being of animals at your celebration, you would not allow animals to be shocked, and you would have long ago banned jerkdowns and other abuses.

Time to stop talking humane treatment, and start walking it instead.

  • This video has nothing to do with the shocking of rodeo animals. That's an entirely different issue. I don't agree with the shocking of animals either, but this video has to do with the idiot who jumped back on a clearly injured horse.

  • popcornpineappleworm: It doesn't have anything to do with shocking per se, but these incident follows a pattern of abuse that includes the shocking of animals. The Tucson rodeo claims it doesn't abuse animals, but in this incident, as well as with the shocking of animals and other issues, abuse is clearly present and abuse is tolerated and even covered up.

  • The horse kicked up and the rider fell along with the horse; he laid there, horse was hurt, he kicked the horse, it got up and he got on and rode away while the crowd screamed to not ride the horse.

  • Wow. Our float was the 2nd to last and some parents said there was a huge gap in the parade; this is probably why! You should forward this to kold

  • This happened at the 2009 parade? What happened?
