Nah, Gene's just like the others, but he stays behind when he remembers anyway because he wants to help people avoid Hell and he never got the chance to have a career when he was alive so he wants to make the most of the opportunity he has. He'll join them soon though, I bet. :)
@beatxthexpizzas it was Dixon of Dock Green I think. The link (if there's any) is that Dixon was killed in the first (feature length) episode/film and the series then they did the series so make of it what you will
even after 5 serious, this slots nicely in them. the writers were spot on and gene made a hard decision at the end but i think i would of done the same decison aswell. this marks an end to a truly fabulous serious and awesome show. and alex drake, well shes well fit.
Don't tend to watch much tv these days.... but Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes are without doubt two of the best series I have ever seen.... all the characters in both series were absolutely fantastic.... think if there was one I'd love to have been it would have been Ray actually..... one final point, Keeley Hawes looked absolutely stunning in all three episodes and I think if I'd have been Gene I'd have accepted her offer to stay !!!! :-) ..... fantastic series.... brilliant ending...
Best TV ending, well apart from Life on Mars so yeah I really hope BBC bring some new amaazing shows soon Because I'm in need of some great telly. I mean they do put some craap on and we do pay for them so yeah my rant over.

Felt a little sorry for the Genie at the end tho, but hey, it looks like he's gonna have a merc to play with this time ('Gods' reward for his hard work??). Loved the good v evil thing between Hunt & Keats, never quite sure who's who until the end. Not very often the Beeb has got things right in recent years, but I think with this and LOM they excelled themselves
@avenellroad1971 well the Audi was all about performance, so maybe a bit of class was being offered this time (I know, why wasn't it a jag brochure!). Anyway, it was only a brochure he was looking at so we don't know if a Merc is what he'll actually get!

:'( Best TV ending of all time, but I was angry for a few days after this aired because:
1. Gene didn't go with her.
2. Alex didn't stay.
3. They didn't do it!! I'm glad they kissed but the night before was going to be something else!!!
