  • Drain the stewed tomatoes and bake them with a mixture of dried bread crumbs, green onion, melted butter, and seasonings sprinkled on top for about 20 minutes. That's what we do at the nursing home and the staff and seniors go crazy for it. We call it "Tomato Bake" and serve it with mac and cheese.

  • A suggestion I do...when you bake it, add crutons for a little crunch and extra flavor

  • That is a great idea!

  • wow, that looks great. now i'm really hungry. :-(

but u didn't taste it at the end. ya always gotta taste it and give ur reaction. have ur family taste it too! :-)

  • Wild Bill, YOU are the macaroni with the cheese! I will forever add half and half to my recipe. Looks delicious!! xoxox, Daphne (fellow Stepford Wife)

  • Thank you, Daphne! It was the best I've ever made, and maybe the best I've ever had. I'm going to make it again this week.

  • What happened to the stewed tomatoes?

  • I did have them, and they were a good compliment to the mac n cheese.

  • Okay, now I'm hungry. ;)

Yes we usually have stewed tomatoes with mac & cheese. We usually add a touch of sugar to the stewed tomatoes to give it a slight contrast to the mac & cheese.

Now.... what do I have in the fridge that I can eat ??

    5/5
