Amazing how the Ball State (BS) announcers are so biased towards their team.... The 2 players, Whitfield and kameneicki had an innocent tangle and fell to the floor. it was the "idiot' Davis who got things going when he joined in. In hockey, the 3rd player involved would be ejected..Moot point, as Western wins without Whitfield, and wins the MAC West title. after watching this video, and hearing the announcers, Ball State really is BS. i was at the game, and can be clearly seen in the stands
Look closely only one of #33's hands is on the throat of #3.. Flenard's other hand is on the floor trying to push himself up. He was NOT trying to choke anyone. The so called punch the Ball St. Anouncers call it.. was a slap. Then they call it a hit and then a punch. If #3 Ball St. hadn't come running in and jumped on Flenard then #5 Mikey Douglas WMU wouldn't have pushed #3 down . It would have been a personal foul against Ball St. It was a mess for sure. It's sad. There I said my peace.

Douglas did not do anything but merely try to get a player off of his teammate. DO YOU NOT SEE ANY OF BALL STATE PLAYERS OVER THERE PUSHING Western players, when Western players are trying to get a player off their teammate. There are 4 guys over Whitfield how does that look to one of his teammates of course he would push him off.
No one should have anything to comment on this video being none of you were on the court playing with these guys. It’s clear that Ball state player pulled Whitfield down when he fell. Ball state played dirty through the whole game Whitfield probably was fed up who knows what was being said.
@Wmubronco67 - So no one should say anything... except you? Cause you were on the court playing with these guys, and we weren't? What number were you wearing?
Wouldnt have happened of the little white kid overreacted and thought it was more than it was. pathetic on ball state and MAC part for the suspension. Just weak
Wow, couple of tough guys going after the smallest guy on the court. I guess if I had to go to Western Michigan, I would be pretty pissed off too though.
The refs did not see this television broadcast replay. In fact they saw an angle from western michigan's one camera arena view in the opposite corner of the arena. The MAC will review these replays and sort it all out.
I was standing right there when it happened, from where I stood it appeared that Whitfield was rolling off when something happened to set him off, I did not see the punch. Frankly Davis and Berry should not have gotten involved; the ref was right there to sort it out and Douglas should not have come in the way he did.
Whitfield has a history of getting caught in a tit for tat with other players, I think that is what happened here. From the video an ejection would not have been uncalled for.
Where do you see Davis throw a punch, btw? They have three different camera angles. Randy clearly goes in and tries to separate the two, gets pushed over the players, gets choked, and then stands up. He in no way threw a punch.
Not being at the game gave us ample opportunity to see the same replays that the refs did. Had I been at the game, I would have had to base everything on my memory of the incident. No, I don't think that Whitfield is a thug. He clearly got caught up in the moment. Davis was pushed down on top of him, and he reacted to the player landing on top of him. Regardless, hands around a neck equals ejection.
FWIW, Kamanichi and Whitfield are friends according to the article from WMU...
he had to fall otherwise he would have suffered a leg injury...yes I do agree whifield should have been ejected...we did not even need him that game. we were going to win anyways...but I dont want to hear it was him and all him...whitfield yes should have been ejected, but Davis should have been to. The other side of the stands was yelling 3 because it was obvious he punched Whitfield.
How great must it be to have your own media network make the assumption for everyone else to agree with?
@JBStemp5 You can clearly tell that Davis did not throw a punch, so there would have been no reason for him to have been ejected. He went over to keep Kamanichi from throwing a punch back and starting a brawl like the Ohio game and was pushed from behind and then choked out by Whitfield.
I was at the game and saw a guy try to choke out another guy. I'm not claiming that he is a thug. I am upset with the officials that he did not get thrown out of the game for a punch and a choke.
oh come on...none of you guys were probably at the game so you dont really know what happened. Of course your going to make an wild assumption based on your biased as hell announcers. Kamienecki or what ever brought down Whitfield clearly on purpose...kamienecki was jawing whitfield the whole entire game. then Rand Davis ran in and what your sorry media missed is that when Randy Davis got up he punched whitfield in the face...whitfield is a guy who plays with a high motor, he is not a thug.
This is ridiculous. To have an official right over the top of him and not get anything called at all is ridiculous. The NCAA should look at this and suspend him. You can clearly see the choke or the attempt to choke out another player.
@thebenwagner The ref could clearly see that Flenard's other hand was on the floor holding his body up off #3 Davis. He was not choking him. The announcers make it sound like Whifield was intentionally choking someone. I'm just saying there was a lot of speculation going on. Flen and the guy were talking about it after the game and neither were mad at the other. Peace let's just have some Peace.
@MrSporttracker Exactly, Flenard was holding himself up to choke (or attempt to choke) Randy Davis. One hand or two hands, I still consider it a choke. He was not holding himself off of Randy lol He intentionally jumped on top of him. I just hope this doesn't end up carrying itself into the MAC tourney if they do meet again.
Besides being totally inept officiating, it totally changed the complexion of the game. WMU came out fired up, and the officials started calling a completely different game. It's BSU's fault for not adjusting, but that's a little bit ridiculous that one player is choked out and another one is punched, yet no ejections occurred...

Surprisingly, WMU's Flenard Whitfield has been suspended for Saturday's game at CMU by the MAC Conference.

@robertlphelps Of course the MAC had to do it, since WMU wouldn't.
