This game is my all time favorite. I highly recommend everyone check it out. Why is it a sub game? because its an mmo. With so many people in the game, they need money to keep the server going. Yes, it isnt crysis graphics, but it more than makes up for it with its realism. tank/planes/guns/men are all created to mimic their real life counterparts. its very realistic this game its one huge map of europe, so you could like drive for one hour north & reach a town. imagine they brought out a modern version of this game, like the entire online took place on a single server with about 2 million people world wide fighting a virtual war over a huge landscape, it would be incredible.
@bayonet262 the map is 30,000 square km, 1/2 the scale of Europe, saying the map is big is an understatement. the fighting is done on one server and is about 50 vs 50 at its quiet times and I've seen about 200 vs 200 on weekend prime times but I hear its possible to host 1000s of players. there are many new players joining daily because its now completely free to DL with no billing info required
I really love the game, i just dont have the money. CRS should attempt to make a free account. I think it would be fair if the free account could be only infantry and have riflemen and SMG's only.
@thewhochilipeppersU2 you have to select air persona instead of army, then u choose a plane from the list. its best to do it on training server or offline 1rst, the planes are not easy to fly.
I just tried this game....It was riddled with bug and the community was full of ass holes....the second i started to talk about how something was wrong with my game the players kept saying that it was my fault and that i was stupid and so on and that i needed to learn the game (even tho i did)and so on. Even after a gm told me that the issue was with me and threatened to ban me for life, i just stopped a day later i find out on the forums that the issue was indeed a bug and a big one at that.

Start the engine, throttle up, use Z and X (brakes) to nudge your plane to the left and right, and hold back on your joystick and you should eventually lift off.
ArmA 2 performs worse and is not set in the same time period, nor is it on the same scale as World War 2 online. ArmA 2 is a modern day, bite-sized military simulator. WW2 Online is a full-scale world war fought on a computer with thousands and thousands of other human-controlled soldiers all fighting at one time across a map that's half the size of Europe.
That's why I said it's a BITE-SIZED military simulator, asshole. Is it realistic? Of course. It's very realistic. But it's NOT ON THE SAME SCALE as World War 2 Online. THAT'S A FACT. Let me know when you have thousands of players at once in a single server in ArmA 2, then I'll revoke my statements. Until then, your ignorance can go die in a fiery car crash.

@cbradley1391 Havent played operation flashpoint, but on the basis that there really isnt another game like this, I will say no. There is only 1 map (Western europe), only 1 server, and 1 campaign can go for over a month. It is combined services (air, army, navy and paras). The emphasis is on realistic physics, not good graphics.

It might seem a bit "dumb" to pay for a game that might seem outdated in comparison with today's hot titled, but the truth is, the company behind it is still working to imrprove this game, not to mention the servers. I do from time to time renew my account when I'm looking for some serious team-oriented sessions and I have to say I don't regret it. This game is not for everyone, obviously. If you only care about the cover of the book, you might as well just play CoD

@Stugs21 In my beleif they have made it $12 now. But once you play the game you are so orientated into strategic gameplay, co-operative teamwork that the gameplay blinds you from the slight outdate styled graphics. Just keep in mind that it's a good thing that it looks this way concidering the sheer scale of the game would make any computer 'lag' if it was increadible graphics. So i would recommend giving it a try. Plus concidering $12 a month is nothing. It's only $124 a year. :)
No matches. Persistent world MMO. Imagine Battlefield 1942 with simulation-level damage and physics and a half-scale map of, well, Europe. Players online at any given time is in the thousands.
With a multitude of systems in place to keep players from wandering for hours in uninhabited areas. It's not like you just spawn in and wander aimlessly like some games I know (cough, Battlefield, cough), you spawn in with foreknowledge of where the battle is being fought, mobile spawn points, direction from C3, etc.

I haven't played Red Orchesta but I don't think it is an MMOFPS. This world is no shoe box server with 36 player maximum. The world is persistent with more than 1000 players on at the same time. There are many "pretty " games out there but they lack the MMO gameplay that makes a game interesting.
What exactly makes Red Orchestra "ridiculously realistic"?
Can you be specific? When I read about the realism factors such as compensating for rifle sway, health not being represented by hit points, the use of iron sights etc. it doesn't seem any different than WW II Online...except for lacking the MMO experience.

But once you play the game you are so orientated into strategic gameplay, co-operative teamwork that the gameplay blinds you from the slight outdate styled graphics. Just keep in mind that it's a good thing that it looks this way concidering the sheer scale of the game would make any computer 'lag' if it was increadible graphics. So i would recommend giving it a try. Plus concidering $12 a month is nothing. It's only $124 a year. :)

No matches. Persistent world MMO. Imagine Battlefield 1942 with simulation-level damage and physics and a half-scale map of, well, Europe. Players online at any given time is in the thousands.

With a multitude of systems in place to keep players from wandering for hours in uninhabited areas. It's not like you just spawn in and wander aimlessly like some games I know (cough, Battlefield, cough), you spawn in with foreknowledge of where the battle is being fought, mobile spawn points, direction from C3, etc.

I haven't played Red Orchesta but I don't think it is an MMOFPS. This world is no shoe box server with 36 player maximum. The world is persistent with more than 1000 players on at the same time. There are many "pretty " games out there but they lack the MMO gameplay that makes a game interesting.

Red Orchestra is ridiculously realistic, and I wasn't saying it was an MMO, I was saying it was more realistic than WWII Online.
There are better MMOs out there than this, and yes, I have played this before. I'd rather play Aion on a Chinese server.

Can you be specific? When I read about the realism factors such as compensating for rifle sway, health not being represented by hit points, the use of iron sights etc. it doesn't seem any different than WW II Online...except for lacking the MMO experience.
