Fear can be a good motivator for begginers, LOVE is the ultimate motivator, think about doing something just because you love it or because it benefits the ones you love (urself included) and you'll see the difference!! If this would be my last day on earth I'd do what I always do, waking up, bathing, working, eating with my family, have fun with them, telling them how much I love them, probably surf the net one last time and a last glass of scotch. All that matters is here and now!! XOXO
It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction!

I always liked that one because the theory behind it is it doesn't matter what you need to do to accomplish your goal (landing the plane, in this case) as long as you reach the goal.
I write a list of everything I can reasonably do to achieve my goals and then try to stick to it, mostly academic related. im now in honors so it seems to be working but I had to spend less time at the gym ...
This one is particularly good if you're feeling down and measuring your success against others. Or if you feel that someone is looking down on you. It's a very nice perspective quote. Basically, at the end of the day, regardless of success, we're all still people. Or, from a reverse perspective, if you're being a jerk to like, homeless people, you can look to this quote and be all like, "Ohh, yeah, they're human."
I don't really have any quote or mantra. For inspiration, I look to history. Tales of adventure and daring that make me realize the potential of the human race.
So many great quotes already here - I won't try & compete with them.
But; (and I know this is cheesey)
If you feel your life is in need of a spiritual lift and you do something to help someone else; this makes you feel better about yourself. ...Which stops it being a 'selfless' act of course, but both of you still benefit from it.
"When I was young, I kept a 'Dairy of Regret' and tried to record my mistakes day by day, but there was never a day when I didn't have twenty or thirty entries. As there was no end to it, I gave up. Even today, when I think about the day's affairs after going to bed, there is never a day when I do not make some blunder in speaking or in some activity. Living without mistakes is truly impossible. But this is something that people who live by cleverness have no inclination to think about."

Whenever I used to go to my father troubled he would say to me, "son, that isn't a problem, that is merely a challenge, a real problem is being dead because then you will never again be able to experience the satisfaction of rising above these sorts of challenges".
When I take my last breath, if those who gather to remember me will say that I never cheated another for the sake of profit, I never knowingly took advantage of another and I always took up the fight for those too weak to defend themselves, I will pass on satisfied with my life.
Also, I'm fond of "It is what it is" although my wife wants to murder me whenever I say it...

I think to live by one phrase is kind of dumb. Sometimes the 'live each day as it were your last' does apply. Its good to live with no regrets because otherwise you will always be worrying about the past and never be about to enjoy the present. There is no reason to live in fear either. Just live.

The Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
"be nice to your future self so tomorrow you can thank yourself for the things you did today" and don't forget to say thank you for the things you did yesterday, like when I go to cook, I say thank you to me for doing the dishes because I don't have to wash dishes before I can cook, sometimes it's just that little thing that can help motivate me
also "do it or I'll beat your ass" seems to work with my kids, j/k but maybe that'll work for you
the thing i say to myself is simply ''Don't Give Up'' And lately it has come true cos a couple of days ago I got made a youtube partner after 16 months of trying. ''Dont Give Up'' Works for me :)
i got this stupid saying in a chocolate wrapper and i've had it hanging by my bed for a couple months. it says something like "do a little more each day than you think you could"
and i can't seem to get it out of my head. it really sticks. i'm one of those indecisive people who finds it's always easier to say no.. but with that phrase stuck in my head i've found myself in some surprising (and good) situations, because i force myself to just try shit. yeah.
I LOVE the idea of a hippo lunchbox. It makes putting together an earthquake kit so much more fun. I just added some cans of mac and cheese for my hippo!
Quote that works for me from Voltaire, "The perfect is the enemy of the good." Keeps me productive, otherwise I could just put something off if I don't think the idea is good enough. Sure, it could lead to some crappy or incomplete content, but that has certainly worked better for me than doing nothing.

"Compassion for myself and others".
My greatest motivation is my wife, so that isn't going to help you much. :)

Behold the hippopotamus!
We laugh at how he looks to us,
And yet in moments dank and grim,
I wonder how we look to him.
Peace, peace, thou hippopotamus!
We really look all right to us,
As you no doubt delight the eye
Of other hippopotami.
I don't know what this means. But I thought I'd try and help! Love ash

Here is a famous quote.
The Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

1. Unplug your television.
2. Place television at the curb.
3. Allow several years to pass.
4. Enjoy your new brain.

It's an April Fool's bit from YouTube.
Click on the top-right that you want the old format to fix it.

i got this stupid saying in a chocolate wrapper and i've had it hanging by my bed for a couple months. it says something like "do a little more each day than you think you could"
and i can't seem to get it out of my head. it really sticks. i'm one of those indecisive people who finds it's always easier to say no.. but with that phrase stuck in my head i've found myself in some surprising (and good) situations, because i force myself to just try shit. yeah.

I LOVE the idea of a hippo lunchbox. It makes putting together an earthquake kit so much more fun. I just added some cans of mac and cheese for my hippo!

Brigitte, you put together an Earthquake kit and didn't make a video about it?!? What's up with that?

This is one that works less well for like, motivation to do creative stuff, but more like when you're all depressed and bummy.

Quote that works for me from Voltaire, "The perfect is the enemy of the good." Keeps me productive, otherwise I could just put something off if I don't think the idea is good enough. Sure, it could lead to some crappy or incomplete content, but that has certainly worked better for me than doing nothing.

Freaky...I take it the inverted layout was for April's Fools? For a second there I thought I had gone crazy.
