This is God punishing the Chinese for Tibet. Don't ever recall the Chinese offering Tibet sympahty for the years of rape and pilage they have undertaken. Funny that.
Rape?Pilage? Tibet was a slavery society before the Chinese government came(fact!). Tibet lacks natural resources, and these were brought to tibet from all over China(fact!). Thousands of scholars move voluntarily to develop tibet each year, and that's why we built railroad linking tibet and eastern China. The fact is, tibet has never seen that flourish as they do today! although i am in UK, but i always remember where i am from. my second grandpa went to Taiwan in 1940th, but even his grand grand chlildren never forget they are chinese.
currently i have so many friends who are from Taiwan, we have to reteach them the glorious Chinese history, our common ancestors' history. they are so happy after they know the truth and so angery for being cheated for so many years, especially that even the history teaching books in Taiwan tell lie!

Rape?Pilage? Tibet was a slavery society before the Chinese government came(fact!). Tibet lacks natural resources, and these were brought to tibet from all over China(fact!). Thousands of scholars move voluntarily to develop tibet each year, and that's why we built railroad linking tibet and eastern China. The fact is, tibet has never seen that flourish as they do today! Funny that some of you can interprete it in this way, while you have no idea what went on there.

you are saying God will punish a entire race of people (in fact, more than one, a lot of ethnic minority such as Tai and Tibetans will be living near those areas) indiscriminately for what somebody else did somewhere else? If that is the god you worships, then same on you!
By the way, just to let you know, Sichuan province is just next to Tibet and there will be thousands of Tibetans affected too, and was saved.
