Bon was the shit. saw AC/Dc about 5 months before he died. I'd been a fan since '77 or so, when one of my bandmates got hold of a copy of the bootleg "Let There Be Rock"". Been in love with them ever since. Angus = my guitar idol. Bon = one of the finest frontmen to ever front a band, if not THE finest.
@unightprowler If Bon had used lemonade in a song you can be sure it'd be a euphemism for something much different, still yellow but much warmer........
The Brits perfected it....Maiden,Motorhead,Slade,Sabbath,The Who,Jethro Tull, and if I remember right ,isn't Uriah Heep..British ?? ;) And one of my faves Deep Purple also......I'm from the USA
The demo versions of for example this and Beatin Around The Bush are better than the ones on Highway To Hell at least if you're looking for a true Bon Scott sound, they made it a bit poppier only to please the friggin americans
@56nickjames Its true you f..kin fag, as soon as they smoothed the sound America picked it up, a tip: if you dont know anything about AC/DC or their albums sales in different country STFU!
Sweden on the other hand was one of the countries AC/DC toured most often in their early years because we embraced them even if they didnt had Robert John ''Mutt'' Lange as a producer to smooth their sound. If you deny that Highway To Hell had been americanized you're just plain stupid.
@56nickjames If you wanna prove me wrong to think you're just another selfcentered american just say Im right because I am. Aks anyone who know anything about AC/DC, many people I know have said the same and music reporters. And thats because we know the truth, if you still say Im wrong then you're helpless
@maxinator96 Invented their own rock n roll yes, they cant stand anything with a harder/rougher sound especially if its not american. They want big productions and they got it with Highway To hell, Back In Black and For Those About To Rock thats why AC/DC made it in the states
Personally I think that the demos on Bonfire of songs that were remade and released on Highway To Hell was better as demos. No way Highway To Hell would have been as succesfull without the little changes in the sound (softening, delay) and the details but to me the demos sounds much more Bon Scott.
Highway To Hell was the beginning of AC/DCs sound with Brian in the early years and I just like AC/DC best when they are totally Bon Scott.
(AC/DC is still my fav. band with Brian, he ROCK!)
"In the book Let There Be Rock The Story Of AC/DC it said that Bon played the drums on some of the demos for Highway To Hell, now I don't know if it's true or not but, you can't rule it out.Bon did know how to play the drums and Phil Rudd might not have been around. Then again it could mean nothing, of course it'd be cool if you could see Bon sing and play though R.I.P. Mr. Scott---------"
yeah this sounds like Phil, but on one one of the demos(back seat confidential I think) is the one if any Bon played on,of course Phil probably did all of these I was just saying what was from that book.Bon still would like to see Bon playin' drums and singing
This version is good, but I perfer the one released. It's hard to pass up the "blood and the streets, blood and the rocks, blood in the gutters, every last drop"
Volts is the 4th of 5 CD's of the AC/DC Bonfire CD Package released in 1997 with rare live tracks, alternate takes, and previously unreleased material
why couldn't they make a compilation of all the australian songs that were released with the australian albums.... or better yet, they should make a box set with all unreleased songs from Bon to Brian.
There is one song I bet you haven't heard (RockNRollDamnation3) is BlackBalled. It is an Ultra Rare Demo but how were you able to get all these songs.
I just like hearing this as it's kinda like listening to the soul of the song, before they slicked it up with production and Back up vocals. I love the final Version but hearing where it came from is like an added gift!
This version is not at all produced right? More like a demo. Highway to hell is heavily produced, like the next two albums of Mutt Lange. All of them has a slightly slick FM sound too them thats not quite ac/dc. (how can a compromise ever be rockn roll?) I like this version more and more, even the halffinished lyrics.
True. I actually prefer how the tone of the chorus vocals "you got it" is opposite from the final version. Also I'm pretty sure that the solo is a total improvisation.
