Hi,

does the GPS reception antenna of the car kit only work when it is connected to the car charger? Or does it have a battery?

@jerryx2000 It has to be connected to the car charger for the car kit GPS to work, but if it isn't, you can use the GPS reception from the iphone and it still works, but the battery will go faster since it isn't plugged in.

@jerryx2000 No it does not boost gps reception when not plugged in, just acts as an expensive mount. If you plug into the car charger, it boosts reception of course.

Thanks for the fix! It didn't work on my first and second try. Then I doubled the velcro and made sure it didn't overlap the part that moves. That has to hinge back flat when you dock, or it wont connect. With 2 strips of velcro (maybe mine was thinner than yours), immediately the 2 tones sounded, the battery charger indicator came on and I Bluetooth shook my hand. Oh, in case you forgot, the TomTom default password to connect the Bluetooth is 5555

Then why does it say on Apple's website that the iPhone 4 is fully compatible with the carkit >.< Anyway, I don't like having more shit on my dashboard, but I guess it's better than nothing.

@thatcrazyjames bad iPhone 4 mic, Apple is replacing it. Plus I uploaded via 3G and should have transferred the video via itunes to get the HD version.

Once you add the Velcro everything works just like with the 3G. Charges and Bluetooth.
