There are no "always" in poker. It depends on the situation and opponent. This guy probably figured that Hachem was aggressive and would pay him off over the course of the hand, better then folding pre-flop. He just got very unlucky.

I agree with you that AK and QQ flat call was very stupid and retarded but the reason why they did that was because they're afraid of bubble, which was very stupid. AK called because he figured that if he didn't see A or K, he can simply fold and make it in the money while QQ figured that if no A or K comes up, he has high chance of winning with overpair, which is very stupid and ridiculous. AK and QQ should've either pushed or fold during pre-flop. During bubble play, it should be push/fold.
