  • Alvin Lee, one of the great guitarists of all time. Thanks for the cool songs.

  • I eally like his perception on life. I actually accomplished success in my life, to the point where i can live like he is saying. man this is a really great trip. If i want somthing to happen, i simply sit down and try to take a break. if i want company, i simply play solitaire.

  • Is any member of Emerson Lake and Palmer on this? Sure sounds like it.

  • @Marilyn1966 OMG I sure hope not. I love 10 years after, and could never stand that ELP stuff. Just enjoy Alvin Lee and 10 years after. It doesn't get much better than this.

  • saw them live...many moons ago...

  • Saw them in 69 at the Fillmore; group kick ass group; what's with all this political crap here? Alvin is just expressing an opinion. Don't you folks like the song?

  • great jam

  • niceness

  • amazing...

  • i love how he complains about commercialism, sings about taxing the rich out of existence. i wonder what he's worth these days? hypocrite.

  • @wmosco these are the guys who sold us this commie fascist bill of goods then they took the money and made millions on capitalism and now we are all fucked. the hippies were just con men.

  • @dorodini the british invation really was an invation, to fuck with our heads for the queen, thats why most of these guys were knighted.

  • @dorodini invasion.......it is invasion, my friend

  • @wmosco Geez what an idiot. Do you think all rock stars are rich? Try doing a little research at least before you make a stupid generalization like this. It's well known that a lot of famous musicians got screwed over early on by their record companies, & some could only make money by constant touring. I have no idea whether or not Alvin Lee or the rest of the band made enough money to retire on, but since I NEVER hear their music on oldies/classic radio, I doubt it. Most artists never make much

  • @northernmuse9 i'm an idiot but you don't know how much alvin lee is worth? run along suck up.

  • one of the most under rated guitarist ever. He can really make music with that guitar.

  • so what you can't speak your mind!!! you might not be american!!! bullshit that is being american.. thats what is wrong with this country... oh I didn't hurt your feeling ...did i BRING BACK OUR RIGHTS AND ALL OUR FREEDOM

  • What is wrong with you all who don't get the message? Is poetry dead? It seems the majority of posters are picking up the opposite of what Alvin is sending out. He is a great artist whose audience is sadly unaware of the beauty of his soul. At least that is what I see here on this thread. Not to mention the disgusting homophobe. Say that bs to Alvin's face, buddy, and see where it gets you.

  • @jsbach5001 - Right.. People: don't make Alvin out to be some Pat Robertson wannabe, Christo-fascist shit bag!

  • The one's who can't enjoy the music are the analysts. Everyone's got opinions. If you like the tunes, don't undue it by criticizing others. It's their right to comment. You don't have to comment just 'cause you disagree. Let it be.

  • The tax rate was 90% that is why the stones had to leave england when they did the alblum excile

  • People --- when Alvin wrote this song the tax rate on the rich in England was approximately 97%. Even the die-hard Wall Street protesters of today would not think that was fair. It is amazing how many people parse this song for meanings that Ten Years After never intended. I love you Alvin!

  • Just learned to play this song its the best its on my channel

  • tax the rich, feed the poor ? WTF !

  • We all had transistor radios then... little plastic 9 volt AM transistor radios.... wow

  • @dannysfreind if you didn't hear this in a van with 6 speakers and an 8 track, then you were in science lab...good you found a cure ...

  • Alvin Lee is the shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a great vid...a little chat w/Alvin and a studio cut...TY \m/

  • and we did change the world

  • this song is really .different...

  • So,i,leave it up too you. well whats that mean??/

  • this was apparently the number one song the day i was born

  • you tell it..

  • Not even close to the change one might wish for

  • Not the change you were hoping for, huh?

  • Is alvin lee still alive?

  • ...the starting point of changing the world is to believe that we can.

  • This song was taken off the Classic Rock radio station in Little Rock because of the line "dykes and fairies". Imagine!

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • change is good - but it don;t last.

  • i think nobody can play the guitar solo

  • To live is to change, and to live long is to change often.

  • @basicaa excellent.

  • can you spare some change.....

  • To Two Point Up: You sound bitter, defensive, ignorant and aggressive...mellow out - it's just a song, not a declaration of war on the rich!!

  • The world is constantly changing.

  • We DID change the world. And it's changin right Now and right before your eyes, L0L

  • @walt9nic "The only change we have to change is change itself"

  • I love the lead guitar in this song....hauntingly perfect.

  • Tax the rich, feed the poor, til there are no, rich no mo'... Amen.

  • @TwoPointsUp what is wrong with rich people? Rich people are not evil.

  • @keaton1895 Well not my rich relatives, they are GREAT people. But some other rich people are bad because TV tells me they are. But which ones are bad changes a lot and I can't keep up. Is Jane Fonda good or bad now ?

  • @CallousD Jane Fonda will always be Jane Fonda, no matter what!

  • @TwoPointsUp You dumb ass, if that ever happened every one would starve to death. do you thank all these rich idealistick people give there proseeds to the poor? If you give all the funds to the poor they use them up and ask for more, If the rich keep running buisness,s then the poor keep earning a living and partying it away, while the rich keep investing there earnings so the poor can keep earning there party money! Go try to take somthing away from a protester, like there iphone see if yucan

  • @TwoPointsUp ummm who ya gonna tax to feed the poor then ;D

  • The whole vibe of some of these songs just come thru so strong! It was a feelong of despaire but hope as well!

  • OK...Ok...who the hell is the ONE!!!!! person who does not like this?

  • i love this song :) *repeatedly playing video*

  • hoot hoot

  • Alvin always seemed so cool, a superstar but still a guy you could hang with and have a beer

  • Ten Years After. What a superb Band. I saw them at the old Pershing Auditorium in 1970 and they rocked the whole house down. Alvin lee was so precise on his guitar licks that you were really blown away. The concert turned into a brawl with chairs flying and people rushing the stage. Man, it was the best cocert this old Vietnam Vet. had ever seen. Lincoln, Ne. July 1970. Cleartwater.

  • This song sums it all up 4 me... It was a beautiful time to be alive amides protest, free love, drugs and rock 'n' roll... Beam me back, Scottie

  • I also noticed how the concerns of the past (60's) seem to recycle over and over. Listen to the words of the song and notice how they could be applied in certain situations. " I'd love to chang e World, but I don't what to do".

  • This may well be more relevant now (2011 - 2012) then it was (and it was) back then

  • I...LOVE...HIM

  • Una de las joyas del buen rock and roll, uno de los grandes guitarristas por siempre......Alvin Lee.

  • 240P, we meet again.

  • Alvin Lee, one of THE all time greats. He deserves a higher place in rock history.

One of the finest lead tones out there. I've never heard anyone over the years play like him, the same for Hendrix

  • Me too. I feel tingles all over my upper torso after listening to it.

  • Hearing that song just brought on a Rush of emotions, youth, idealism, spirituality and a longing for times long forgotten. Too Cool!

  • @Aginghotie amen to that things now days are not what they used too be i really miss the 60s and 70s take care joihn

  • Please do not put down the Ten Years After! Alvin Lee may be an underrated guitarist historically, but could this group get into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame? None of the group's videos are shown on VH1 Classic. The odds of the TYA getting into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame: Nil. Maybe in 10 years.

  • Ten Years after was the first show i had every seen I was 13 years old i remember my friends and i crashed the gate it was a big venue and we sqeezed tho the turn style gates that where all over.Montreal Canada 1970. or so.

  • Timeless song

  • @gl797 yes , you are correct ! I remember being so shocked when I learned about all the songs by Zep that actually came from old blues tunes from here in America. But WOW ! I love the Zep versions ...I think their music spoke to our generation, and revitalized the original songs with amazing interpretations , ....these guys reinvented them, and made them so much more....little masterpieces you could say ! From a raw sketch to the completed painting I think.

  • @cillajeanluvmayn & cillajeanluvmayn : it's all right. Zep's "stolen" covers were commended highly by some of the original artists. Like the line from the movie "Crossroads", "get the music where you find it and take it someplace farther; that's what the music is all about." Ten Years After, Ten Years Later and timeless truths are there.

  • Alvin NEVER performed this song live on tour. Quess he thought "if it ain't broke .....don't try and fix it"

  • The intro reminds me of the led zeppelin tune Babe I'm gonna leave you, two favs of mine. I never tire of them!

  • @cillajeanluvmayn Even though Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is credited on the album as being written by Page..it wasn't. The song was recorded many years earlier by someone else and never credited correctly by Zep. 80% of the first three Zep albums are like this. Nearly 3 complete albums of stolen songs.

  • it be hard to sing and play lead with this song

  • @flyinv1967

why? it's pretty much a 4-4 song... I could play it on my accordian - and sing it too! LOL! Lamar

  • Inacreditavel.....Essa foi uma das milhares de musicas que eu ouvi quando garôto.Vale a pena ouvir de novo e relembrar os bons tempos.Saudade não tem idade.

  • ONE OF THESE DAYS BOY! THATS WHAT I LISTEN TOO IN VIETNAM!

  • Do people think his tune targets gays? Think again...Listen to Alvin...This a song of the struggle of life, and if you are gay your chances just took a hit! Ask Freddie Mercury! Aids activists took huge strides towards finding cures because of Freddie yet Alvins wisdom states other issues than just gays. If everyone would wake up and shape up they'd find they have a lot to live and give! Take the lyrics to this song to your mirror each day and I bet you will realize there is more to life.

  • @MrDjmacd

Been listening to this song for the past 40+ years and never once thought it was about Gay people. I just thought it was a song about "changing the world" as we know it today. Some things need to be changed that's for sure! On the other hand this is just a pop/rock song, he only had a few minutes to say stuff, and we love his guitar and voice. Why does it always have to be some larger social isssue going on? I have no idea if Alvin is Gay - so what!!! Lamar

  • so you stole the video from NetworkES335, bad karma to you

  • @K9RUHBRLFQ ur an idiot...

  • The song is NOT down on gay people, it's a statement about the world view of all the things in the song'

  • @Thaimiles Who the fuck said its about gays?

  • @Thaimiles Who cares if it is.We are still a FREE people and can feel anyway we want about anything .

  • @Thaimiles ITS AN ANTI WAR SONG......AND NOTHING MORE

  • @Thaimiles

Says you. Did you write the song? If not, then shut your mouth. The lyric is exactly right. Dykes and fairies everywhere, and what a wonderful culture they've brought with them--AIDS, high suicide rates, high substance abuse rates, rejection of the family and children.

  • @Pizuzuzimmer chill dude, aids wasn't for another 10 years after when this song came out...sorry your coked up mom ran off with a lesbian...

  • @oscarandbernie

Oh, you mean the plague only came LATER, as a direct result of rampant assfucking? Oh, well, then by all means, let's go ahead and celebrate rampant assfucking!

You're about as smart as a dish rag.

  • @Pizuzuzimmer -- You missed it perfectly. It is a protest song. Duh. Protesting AGAINST prejudice of all sorts -- including your particular brand of homophobia. Your ignorance is typical. Homosexuals did not bring AIDS. Homosexuals do not have higher substance abuse rates that heterosexuals. Homosexuals are the ones usually rejected by their families not vice versa. However, I am sure since you completely missed Alvin Lee's message you won't comprehend mine either. Peace

  • @mujercita1000

    Que pinche pendeja eres.

  • @Thaimiles everywhere is freaks and hari's, dykes and fairies... tell me where is sanity.."

like all those things are insane.. or am I not hearing something? explain,.

  • @futuristfood People are just tooo STUPID Today coupled with no experience and even less desire to learn..Most likely he's reflecting on the scene in Manhattan in 67-68,left out the Krishna Crowd though, everybody say'n Hooray for our side,I was one of those "Freaks".Where's the right path ? Not where we r today..this is the end ! Press 2 for Spanish,3 for Arabic,Politically Correct-The Road to Hell.Do YOU know what to do ?

  • why they down on gay people?

  • Es una reliquiaa!!!

  • ¡Pulgares arriba si estás aquí por Arriaga!

  • Great song!!

  • America has completed its ascendency and has now started its decline...like rome on steroids...at least I was there for the salad years...

  • I have listened to this song (a better copy) at least 15 times in 2 days. It doesn't get old. I was only 5 when this song was charting. Timeless baby.... The song as well.

  • aaaah que buno gracias rareza increible bien

  • Excelente!! una verdadera reliquia!!. gracias por compartirlo.

  • Not high enough High lol!! The school I mean...

  • Alvin Lee...stunning, magical, inspiring, quintessentially cool, artist extraordinaire. I played this song on the jukebox at my highschool every day at lunch. Better than food! I'm still there...

  • @covenantofgrace100 Me tooCov! He pretty much is the white Jimi Hendrix. This song made my schooldays really easy! what high school was that??

  • Timeless, absolutely timeless song. I like this song now as much as when I first heard it when it was first played on the radio. I'm guessing I've listened to it at least 5 or 10,000 times. Alvin was definitely top 5 EVER. I would say #1, but I know everyone has their preference, but I would hope they would at least place him in the top 5 where he rightfully belongs.

  • I love this song .... a lot!!! I don't get tired of listening to over and over and over....
