  • I wish the kids were like they back then today. They weren't all grabby for all that video-game, 1st person shooter, Steve Job, stuff. They found fun in simple, fun toys and imagination.

  • i wish i lived back then all the stuff was so kool ~.~

  • i want 1 they look so cute!!!

  • omg... i love slinkys!! The metal original ones not those dumbass things... my favorite was always Mr an Mrs Potato head and of course... these!

Oh the times are changing... (damn i feel old now and considering i went the first ten years of my life without a computer this was pretty much all i had *and i'm only 15*)

  • I WANT ONE!!!

  • I think the dachshund in this commercial is feeling a little forlorn and displaced by this toy, don't you?

  • my favorites the catipilar

  • IT'S THE DOG FROM TOY STORY!!!

  • Good toy, charming commercial, but I keep thinking of the "Log" parody ("it's better than bad, it's good!").

  • Was this in color once?

  • man, right when the internet came out america was screwed.

  • Too bad they didn't tell the kids about the tangled mess two days later...

  • i like slinky's :)

  • this is like a toy for kids back in like the 1960s

  • Unbelievable quality and content!!!

I am so impressed. The author deserves recognition here: HOW WAS THIS ACCOMPLISHED? VCR's weren't invented until the early 80's!!!

    BRAVO!!!!

  • My Father's friend worked for a TV Station in the 60's and he had a "Studio Quality" Black and White Recorder. The sucker was huge but he had a Library of Movies (about 100) in these big tapes. It was the coolest thing to go their house and put in a tape and watch a movie.

  • duh !!!! ever hear of TV? Tv has been around since about 1940 by the time this commercial was done early 1960's almost everyone had a TV.

  • @smdog66 Some people are like slinkies. They're not really good for much, and you just can't help but smile when you see them tumble down the stairs.

  • @smdog66 yh but with only a few channels and barley any programmes for kids.

  • This awesome!!!!

  • See....we need ta get muthuhfuckin back to tha fuckin bitchass basics. Get kids off tha sofa of tha damned!

  • I got a Slinky at $ 3 yesturday if Slinky now has better metal

LOG was & will allways be fake

  • Log kicks you in the dick.

  • its all fun and games till u tangle up the slinky then u have more fun with it as a weapon haha

  • How could a kid have fun with those?

  • Probably the same way kids have fun with 'Ball in the Cup', 'Kick the Can', and a 'Hula Hoop'..... Lo-tech 'toys' that seemed to satisfy kids before the electronics and computer explosion... yah?

  • @Dylan6758 How could a kid NOT have fun with those?

  • @mrscoffeekiller It's just metal. I would get bored after 1 minute

  • @pat20105 liez.

  • i just bought one today and it was only $2.50 i bought it at Wal-mart

  • lol i bot the slinky jr. @ the dollar store

  • i bouight a metal one for 2.75 today

  • ha. now the dude that invented them is rich. i want to make a very simple toy and be rich :D

  • im playing with one right now , got it out my stocking

  • lolol.. You want your slinky, under a dollar(and $1.00 apears on the screen)

  • slinky slinky

    lol XD

    luvd it

  • That kid looks bored out of his mind pulling a Slinky on wheels...I would be too.

  • Slinkies will never die. I love them so.

  • A dollar! Wow times have changes

  • that's like $10 back then i think?

  • not so cheap now

  • I bought one about 3 years ago for £1.50. =D

  • R.I.P. BETTY JAMES (wife of SLINKY inventor,

Richard James). Seen in Los Angeles Times

    obit. Nov. 25,2008.

  • BETTY JAMES,btw, literally improved upon (and

    turned the once-struggling SLINKY empire

around...to become one of the most successful

    toy EMPIRES of all time!!

  • UNDER $1.00!

  • what happens when it gets tangled for the billionth time, and they're like "...Fuck."

  • it is very easy for me to untangle them.

    its just strategic.

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!

  • Wow

I wish I lived back then!!

  • Oops sorry for my last post..

    Anyways...

    I just bought one today...

    It was $3.99 lol.

  • lol Under a dollar..??

    I

  • i prefer LOG! from Blammo.

  • All kids love Log!

God, I hated that song. It was so annoying and it got stuck in your head.

    It'a Loooooooog, it's loooooooog...

  • WHAT IS LOG JEEZ

  • Log was an old skit they made to make fun of these old slinky commercials on Ren and Stimpy cartoons. Back when it were good.

  • Everyone NEEDS a LOG!LOG LOG LOG -from Blammo!

  • Damn my grammar, I meant back when it was good.

  • Barndancer, math classes have obviously changed since then too because 10+10+15=35 cents, not a quarter.

  • That toy never lasted a day. Once in got

tangled - forget it. It never worked after

that. The inside of houses seem so ugly back then - with the dark paneling in the "den."

I don't they called them "Family rooms" like they do now. We called our "den" the

"rec room." There were 5 kids in my family.

My neighbor had 10 kids in the family. Most

families had at least 4 children. It was fun

back then. I wouldn't trade my childhood

for all the fancy toys they have today.

  • What the hell? You writing an autobiography?

  • EnvyMylgnorance -

Well, you've twisted my arm! As you can

see, my childhood was fasinating. I am sure

people all over the world would love to

read more about broken slinky's and lack

of birth control in the 60's.

  • 1=4-........

  • its slinky its slinky i still remember the song i had one i got it to walk down 3 stairs once if it got tangeled 4 get it now their plastic the old dangerous spring was better

  • man, slinky's costed over a dollar back then???

isn't that like... a fortune for a kid? what the frick. WHAT the frick.

  • Well, yes, but that would have been something we would have bugged our parents to buy, not something we bought from our allowances. In those days (40-45 years ago) a quarter bought us two candy bars (10 cents ea.) and a bottle of pop (15 cents).

  • fun toy. I didn't know commercials ever asked you so honestly to buy their product.

  • No, they suck.

  • Can't reist... too catchy!!!

  • i luv em =P

  • I have my original Slinky lol and all the kids have played with it ..

    ren

  • MUST BUY SLINKY

    MUST MUST

  • slinky ruuuuuuules!

  • OMG, That toy is sick, i need to get out to the store now and get one!

  • the slinky dog is the best!

just recently did a slinky video

the sound of slinkys is pleasing and relaxing

  • The Toy Story Dog :)

  • 20 years later Mario came and saved the day

  • jesus - was that clip shot in my nana's livingroom??

  • Slinky, slinky, I loved my slinky!

  • O M G!! i want 1

  • This is obviously what inspired the "Log" bumper in Ren and Stimpy

  • actualy it was a different one from the 50's.

  • ok thanx
