  • HM is so far above and beyond the Rolling Stone picks that he shouldn't even be mentioned in their presence.

  • Hank Marvin has barely any honours as a guitarist. Even John Frusciante (RHCP) and The Edge (U2) who I think are both fucking average made it into Rolling Stone 100 greatest guitarists, but Hank is nowhere to be seen.

  • Taniec z gwiazdami, oczywiście gwiazdą jest muzyka, ale wytrenował ją Hank. Niepowtarzalne.

  • Check out my version on Apache. A mix between Shadows and Black Sabbath

  • i can play this as good as him on my yamaha tyros 3

  • They just dont make music like THIS anymome!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • Heads Up, Hands Down, The Nerdy Guitarist is in Town! I like this!

  • Hank, non trovo le parole giuste per esprimere la mia riconoscenza per la tua esecuzione di Apache, che ascolto da più di 40 anni!!

    Grazie, sei fantastico!

    Sandro

  • What a sound iconic

  • henk wird mit e geschrieben

  • You can't play / listen to this song without a smile on your face! CAN YOU??!!!

  • Truely....fantastic....Bravo well done......!!

  • He always has a smile on his face while playing this song...

  • Is this the man from the original video of this song? If he is, he hasn't changed a bit!

  • Marvelous

  • Hank Marvin is an Extremely Talented Guitarist as well as a Musician. Apache is a Prime example of his Control and command over his Signature Fender Strat. The subtle Vibrato’s created with the Whammy bar is so beautiful and the way he plays the Guitar while following the Steps is a unique, rare talent, which I don’t see from any modern day Guitarist...

  • @Nirmal1991Guitar Paul Gilbert is an extremely amazing guitarist, who has an extreme control and command over his signature Ibanez. Whilst I realise this argument will never be solved by a pissing contest, I'd like to say this - you can't say theres no modern day guitarist with talent like this, unless you know everyone out there.

  • @Nirmal1991Guitar Can't disagree on anything you said! He's superb!

  • what concert is this

  • If you really want to hear this guy at his best then bring him up on the same stage playing "Ghost Riders In The Sky" - that's a better tune altogether i think & complements him more.

  • good

  • Makes it look so easy..but it isn't, just look at all the covers on here....

  • S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G! I fall in love with Hank every time I see this video. What style! What class! Today's 'music' has NOTHING of the romance of the 60's or even 70's - today's youth seem to have no appreciation for the finer things in life - sadly, most of what they can only appreciate seems to be noise and violence - what a loss for them!

  • I like Jørgen Ingmanns version better.

  • On youtube the real swallows in 1984.The swallows in stuif es in 1984 live and compleet whit dancers the Apache born there.

  • sooooooooooooo boring.. David gilmour 4ever

  • @minoxy92 thats why the other top rated guitar players of the world love playing whith him??? clean out your ears!

  • @TheElginboy maybe they like playin with him, but it doesnt change the fact that this song is fucking boring. no emotion no feeling.. Same shit 4 mins long. My ears are cleaned out, you gotta clean out yours.

  • @minoxy92 Touche!

  • @minoxy92 This isn't shit that is is real music and if you dont like it then get lost and go listen to what crap music is around, this music is great and pop music is shit it doesnt even deserve to be called music, so just go away you total fucker!

  • I just love Hank Marvin, one of the nicest guys and one of the greatest guitar players in the world, also yes very much underated. I just love this video and at the end bless him, so funny !!!

  • Certainly true about this guy, he's a real demon on a guitar & one of the best you'll ever hear. In some ways these great players have their own unique style, with such as Mike Oldfield & Brian May also two of my favourites

  • I do!

  • Hank marry me!!

  • Hank, verresti a suonarla al mio funerale?

    Fantastico!!!

  • amazing song. and I know how to play it, and i can play it. not perfect afcours not even close. but you can recognize.

  • If someone says that there is no better guitarist than him, he should watch this video and try this song before says anything. it seems it's easy to play, but he can surprise. maybe not but respect for Hank Marvin!

  • @Mopsingot i can play this and it is very easy but its not about difficulty its about sound, and i reckon this is one of the best sounding guitar melody's ever. metal guitarists can play 1000 notes a second if they want but theyll never produce anything as good as this

  • @8down10 Yeah, that's true. I'm proud of you if u can go this song and i hope you are yourself too :) I mean that I'm not against of Hank but just saying :)

  • Long live Hank Marvin.

    Fantastic!!

    5*

  • He was the 1st guitar player, who actually knew how to use a tremelo!

  • Just awesome! Thanks Hank....

  • You are best...cem-Turkey

  • I know? He's not even in the top 100, yet he's the Boss!

  • Yeah Ricky King!

  • Come too Sweden Hank!!! Love you!

  • Is Hank wearing a rug?

  • @Tremolux59 Like who cares?

  • @TheMarty1234567 I do!

  • Hank the king.

  • Magnificent!!

  • im playing this as a solo in my ukulele group and im learning it in mu guitar group at music school :D

  • Bombart

  • this is harder than U think...to play.

He makes it look easy... it's taken me 30 odd years to realise what a genius he is

  • this song can be in a cowboy movie:D

  • does any one know what accord that is on 2:51???

if you do please let me know.

  • @1995GioT It's just an A major chord, half-barred at the 14th fret with the little finger on the A at the 17th fret.

  • @1995GioT Do you mean chord? its A minor..

  • The Shadows walk, the tune, the dance, totally amazing!

  • jestem mlody ale moj ijciec stary haha

  • can someone please explain to me why people see him as such a genius? i found this rather bland and indifferent. He must have something i don't hear since so many like him.

  • @Crazyguitarman1991 My friend, you have twenty years and that explains it! Mr. Hank Marvin created this music! This song is used in colleges of music to test whether students have reached higher levels of learning! Listen to all the versions posted here on You Tube version of the same by other performers! Perfection in the components, melodic, rythmic and technical

  • @kindrespirit Er, having had some experience of music education at a fairly high level I don't think, with the best will in the world, that an analysis of Apache, however thorough, would yield quite the same insights into the compositional craft as the non-functional harmonic and other more advanced concepts one might encounter in a well-rounded music college syllabus. Cracking tune though.

  • @Crazyguitarman1991 I don't think he is called a genius by many. However, he did have excellent tone and touch and was playing tunes with clarity, space and drama - i.e something more modern (to early 60s listeners) than the more advanced (but dated-sounding) jazz guitarists. Remember, before this there were no long 'big' guitar notes in popular music - blues a la Clapton (etc) had yet to emerge in guitar styles - so yes it can be hard for younger ears to 'get' but it was great for its time.

  • @sludgefingers Thanks for your reply ! "A long journey always begins with the first step ", This famous phrase explains the genius of Hank Marvin. After Picasso's, great artists performed works magnificent but he continues to be a reference to modern art. My parents and parents of my friend, have some flaws ... however, these comments will never could not exist without interference of them! Thank you again.

  • @kindrespirit An little additional information, Hank Marvin is now 70 years old !

  • @Crazyguitarman1991 bare in mind he set guitar playing to what we know today with clapton hendrix page list goes on and on

  • this is the secrets of guitar!!!(L)

  • screw the words let the guitar do the talking

  • my granny knew best! awsome!

  • Hank sounds better than that guitar sound from joe satriani or steve vai,

  • muito massa esse video

  • Oh baby I am shaking all over. Do I watch the guitarist or dance until I drop

  • magic with a fender

  • Great playing! Inspired to play guitar by him when I was a kid. Good programme just on the BBC about him...

  • I'm one of those guitarists Mike, This man is an institution in my opinion

  • MUY BUENA SINCRONIZACION

  • To MDJdecorations. thanks for that, so very true, most of my own music playing , including drumming, was inspired by this man and his group.

I was so happy to see them all in Auckland NZ a couple of years ago, Hank still looks and plays the same.

    Many thanks for posting.

    Brian Jacobi . NZ

  • Klasse !!

  • World class. Apache for the eternity!!!

  • BRAVO !!

  • all i have to say isss..its beautiful!!!!

  • It is unbeliveable that one of the most influential guitarists in the world is one of he most underrated too. He is all in one: melodic, rythmic and technical.

  • Awesome!

  • He looks like a Jehovah's Witness.....Oh wait he is one.

He plays as clean as his suit. I wish I could.

  • I agree, the best sound of any strat I have heard including mine.

  • little bastardsthis music can suck a nigegrs dick

  • @PaulKingIII You suck one already you little shit.

  • @TheEclipzed well fuck y ass boy, u wanna cum ova here and deal wit me?

  • @TheEclipzed you wanna fuck? i got like 9 inches

  • my top 3 favorite guitarists (in no particular order)- knopfler, clapton, and marvin

  • This guy is such a sack but he really can play the guitar.

  • Bill Gates can play guitar! Just kidding.. I really love their music

  • I ave da same sound , wit a yamaha , roland amp, and chip,an , fish ...lol brill vid .

  • The great man Hank B Marvin.

  • Att få uppleva den musiken igen gör mig glad,

  • if eric clapton and mark knopfler say they looked up to him... and that he's one of the "greatest"

Then trust me... Hank marvin is one of the greatest...

  • his guitar wud worh quite abit of money cus is vintage not that it be more cus it been played by a legend

  • to @TheMG63 I respectfully disagree with your position on Ingmann. The twist of fate is that his version made it to the States & got far better airplay than the Shad's. Hank & company never regretted that twist of fate. They just kept on producing impecable music for thier UK fans. Those fans knew that the Shads belong to them & they've responded with loyalty for 50 continous years. Loyalty, the best kind of reward bar none!

  • The Shadows were my intro to start playing the guitar in the 60is......this song brings back good memories

  • mr hank.U LEGEND MATE.CHEERS,FROM RHYTHM BROTHERS (SINGAPORE)

  • mr hank.U LEGEND MATE.CHEERS

  • You can imagine the Apache brave up on the ridge riding along on his paint pony and looking down on a wagon train. An iconic piece of music.

  • a real indian menace which full of strength and unity with nature

  • Pure class!

  • Just a superb guitarist and the sweetest sounding Strat anywhere!

  • great band the best part of song is 1 10 1 13

    glad you enjoy it

  • This man is a legend !!!

  • BILL GATES hahahahahahahahahaahahahaha

  • I love this. It reminds me a lot of Mark Knopfler.

  • I wonder what the new king of the block, Steve Vai thinks about this guy.

  • Total genius,,along with John Williams, Mark Knopfler, Chris Spedding, Brian May,etc etc etc..

  • greatest guitar player ever. such a fine, happy, respectful man. such a talent! he will go down on history

  • greatest guitar player ever.

  • The first time I listened to this song was in the early 60's and I had seen The Shadows live on stage in the 80's.

  • Have you ever heard from Pete Korving, he is Dutch and a phenomenal guitar musician. He also plays many songs from The Shadows .....listen to it on you tube!

  • Feels just like it did first time I heard it ,,, just G R E A T.

  • He is dancing with his guitar as well as playing it.

I i cannot see who is leading, though.

  • @ComradeGramen

As your name would suggest Comrade, perfect harmony together.

    best regards

    Mike.

  • check-out the band rubber soul playing this, these boys can knock a sound out

  • This is a very very good music!!!sad that now days you could bearlly hear it { Esta es una buenisima musica lastima que hoy en dia se escuche muy poco}

  • my only regret is that he never mastered playing with his teeth like Hendrix managed. What's wrong with setting fire to it, Hank old love?!?

  • Very Nice.

  • A legend!

  • He's out of tune on the muted bits...think its the A and D strings

  • He is the saviour.

  • hermosa la forma en esta persona toca muy suave melodia

  • thank god for people like Hank!

  • Maybe we should all remember that, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend, and a certain guitarist and singer from Dire Straits all first picked up a guitar and learnt to play it because they were inspired by this man and his genius on the guitar.

There are countless others as well to many to mention tonight. (think my glass is empty, here endith the first lesson)

    Regards from Mike.

  • @mdjdecorations The Beatles have also stated that they used to watch this man on television, to see how he played certain things, and see how he achieved certain effects. A superb musician. Always plays perfectly and gets a wonderful clean tone. Unlike later guitarists, played no unnecessary indulgent solos, just added a little flourish at the end sometimes, as here.

  • @mdjdecorations so right mr mike, and thank those inspired ones for being persistent enough..

  • @mdjdecorations Thank you for the lesson O Great One.

  • @mdjdecorations and david gilmour :)

  • @mdjdecorations Count me amongst them!!

  • @mdjdecorations i think you missed one guitarist,, his name is Richie Sambora the guitarist of Bon jovi.

  • @1995GioT I will check him out Sir thanks,

    Mike.

  • good rhythmic

  • I was here... Such a great night! Always have respected Hank for all them years he has produced!! He Will always be remebered by his glasses lol!!

  • Loved it four decades back and still love it .

    Great.

  • this man is a genius

  • I have no idea who this guy is, but he sounds like a less aggressive Dick Dale.

  • Back to past. wonderful playing nobodies can deny it. just listen and relax. talented peoples like Hank is much less.

  • Is he Dustin Hoffman? Sorry, this is a great classic!

  • Best guitarist ever

  • I just flipped over & listened to Jorgen Ingmans version(They FINALLY got it up) also on youtube, "Jorgen Ingman Apache Original Vinyl". His version is much more complex, more complicated, more intricate, in short SUPERIOR to Hank's. I'm NOT knocking Hank, Jorgen simply does a better job of it & his version of Echo Boogie is the best there is also.

  • @bootsnspurs33 Yeah, that's why Hank Marvin had a number one hit with it back in 1960 (five weeks at No.1) and Jorgen Ingman didn't (unless you count Canada's charts). Duh! Why do people always think more complicated and intricate is better? There is an atmosphere and simplicity that is lost in these versions that try to be too clever.

  • @TheMG63 The real issue is that Ingmann was MUCH, M U C H, M U C H more talanted with the guitar than Hank will EVER be, Hank COULDN'T do the licks on the guitar that Ingman could, that's why he doesn't. The Monkeys had more # 1 hits than Hank, does that mean that Davy Jones is a better musician than Hank? D U H! No one's putting Hank down, but he's RIGHT "Jorgen simply does a better job of it".

  • HANK MARVIN.....HATS OFF TO YOU,,ALWAYS.

  • @tomandjerry2007 Great Video !!. Hank Marvin is too good !!. Thankd brother Tomandjerry2007 for sharing. Regards John.

  • gracias Jose Buron de Cistierna (LEON) por tus buenisimas imitaciones de este señor cuando en los 60 estabamos por valle de SABERO disfrutabamos con vuestra musica.Una de Sahelices
