erm, at the end of the series, she's shown talking to miyoko, and it's implied that because she talked to miyoko and changed miyoko's original plans miyoko's parents lived, cause then later, at the end of the day, miyoko is seen and she's talking to her parents, so apparently the didn't get on the bus, or something like that. i think that's how it happened
you know what's odd? the only thing i found REALLY disturbing in this series (like, i'd seen all the gore scenes before i even watched the episodes) is when Satoko goes to the school and sees everyone there that had died from the gas...ugh

All of the time lines in Higurashi are alternate worlds of one another. Therefore, whatever happens in the alternate time line in the final scene of the last episode would be different than the entire series, but it would have to no effect on the other time lines.

also you can think of that this way everytime rika died she move to another world->fact therefor when the truck hit her she died and moved to another world,but this time she could come back too.

I think what mion did to shion was very painful that the only thing I could'nt whatch without thinking ow ow that look so painfull.
