I dont get it what are you holding the baby fish in....is it just a regular glass box with the same water as the tank....i have a salt water fish tank with Clown fish in them and all they do is lay hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of eggs like every week or so...and i have no idea what to do with them....They are exactly the same clown fish in the movie "Nemo" do you keep the same water in that small glass box or do u filter it...how do u filter it..?
it's a tray that floats along side your tank wall, you can buy it at any pet store. it's for breeding purpose, on the under side of it there's vents that the babies can go through but the mother is too big for, it's to keep the mom from eating her own fry.
@AnotherGook But don't the little fry die if they get out of it? Wouldn't they get eat from the mother if they leave that tray? and if they do leave it they will most likely get sucked up by the filter....Now does this breeding method work for Salt Water fish tanks? I appreciate the help!
this is the title about your question. i found it on youtube, kid explained it pretty well, and i think he covered everything about the breeding trap. hope it helps, good luck.
sorry i can't answer for the salt water fish, i don't recommend using it. i would get a 5 to 10 gallon tank if i'm planning on breeding fish. MY WAY IS NOT THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT.
i just use it to hold my guppy fry after they are born, they stay there until they're big enough so other fish can't eat them.
i mainly use the as feed for my bettas and other fish.
You reminded me of myself when I got my first tank with mollies and guppies and other fish and found babies a few days later! I loved the feeling, and I still love it whenever I find babies (I have 16 babies now). I know the video was uploaded almost 3 years ago, but using a breeding net is safer, so the babies won't slip through the holes like someone commented.
I have 23 days old guppy fry AND MYSTERY SNAIL BABY'S IT'S AMAZING thaws mystery snails are thaws that clean the aquarium search theme on YouTube if you don't know theme they do good job
heyy just to say i had that breeding tank n my malawi cichild had 20 fry and one of the other breeds eat like 15 of them with that tank so.. next time they breed concider maybe getting another breeding tank but the malawi cichlids are quite clever so i dont know with mollies they will do this but just to say...
They look like guppys, the reason I know this is because one of the teachers at my old school breeds them and gives them to the students!! Well the tanks in her office..
My guppy gave birth to 11 fry today =) i had to remove the males because they harrased her and chased the babies. My fighter is too slow to catch them and will only be able to eat them if they die.
If they are separated then that's good. All you need to do is maintain a clean and heated environment. Use flake food because it is easy to crush up really tiny.
better seperate them, i just found babies in my tank and some got eaten =[ luckily ton ight my dad is buying a breeding mate net thing that seperates the adult and babies =] gl

you need a breeder tank to put in ur original tank and u need to grind up flake food and give it to them about 2 flakes for every 3 fish

3sasufish3 1 year ago
Some fish can keep sperm inside there body. My fish give birth many times with out a male because they store sperm.
tokyoj3 1 year ago
@3sasufish3 no a fish can store a male's sperm after mating for up to a year , she decides when the baby's come :D

Please, don't stick your hands in the water... it can give them fin and tail rot and many other things... trust me, it has happened to me before.
FishExpert1231 2 years ago
@FishExpert1231 So true, unless your hands are really clean lmbo
ChEnGsTaRz 1 year ago
it could have been cross breeds because guppies and mollies are near enough the same fish if you look close enough
