What is American complainning about, in that war there were more than 2 million vietnameses soldier and a lot pp died. And there were nothing left in VietNam. But they exploited the political elements brilliantly and won their objectives by beating the snot out of Washington politicians and a war-weary electorate.
They were 'war weary' after no less than 11 years of seeing endless bodybags full of teenagers wrapped in Stars 'n Bars (twice longer than WWII). If US intervention was that effective then the war would have been won well before then, and there would have been no need to draft unwilling boys as extra cannon fodder, over and above the regular US army. How many other times in history has the US had to force regular members of the public to swell troop numbers..? Sounds rather ineffective to me.

The point of these mid-east wars is not to "control" the oil, but rather to assure "access" to the oil. We don't dare blatantly taking over of the oil fields, So we defend our oil trading partners to keep the oil flowing.
We did it in 1991 when Saddam invaded Kuwait and threatened Saudi Ar and we did it in the 80s when Iran threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz. Oil is a vital interest and we prefer to deal with it militarily rather than diplomatically.

Rather than trying to portray Vietnam as a heroic lost cause, people like McCain and Reagen should accept the war was a humbling and fitting end to America's arrogant belief that it will always win wars and occupation and bombing is justified in the "fight against communism". The US military should stop saying that it actually won but was betrayed at home, all that happened was that the Vietnamese resistance had forced the Americans to give up.

What is American complainning about, in that war there were more than 2 million vietnameses soldier and a lot pp died. And there were nothing left in VietNam. No land to grow food, dead body and bombs from America every where. More than 10 million Vietnamese died in 10 years after war because of not enough food and medical. They were 'war weary' after no less than 11 years of seeing endless bodybags full of teenagers wrapped in Stars 'n Bars (twice longer than WWII). If US intervention was that effective then the war would have been won well before then, and there would have been no need to draft unwilling boys as extra cannon fodder, over and above the regular US army. How many other times in history has the US had to force regular members of the public to swell troop numbers..? Sounds rather ineffective to me.

The point of these mid-east wars is not to "control" the oil, but rather to assure "access" to the oil. We don't dare blatantly taking over of the oil fields, So we defend our oil trading partners to keep the oil flowing.
We did it in 1991 when Saddam invaded Kuwait and threatened Saudi Ar and we did it in the 80s when Iran threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz. Oil is a vital interest and we prefer to deal with it militarily rather than diplomatically.
That is just the hard truth.

I have family members and friends who are either serving in Iraq or have been there previously.
All those radical left-wing protestors in the 60's who spat on the troops coming home from Vietnam, called them baby killers, and threw feces on them upon their return is one more reason to support our troops, regardless of your opinion of the conflict.
Thank you to all of the veterans who have served in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, or other conflicts.

people like the Bush, his administration, the defense companies...etc are the cause. Iraq war is so much like Vietnam war. People were believed to be fighting communism and now some people think we are fighting terrorism. Everything is made up so a few people profits. Think about how chemical companies (producers of Agent Orange) and arms / bombs companies make money if there were no war? THEY love war because it produces cash. You don't see their family going to war do you? Just ours

Of course it is for the oil. Bush is not nice enough to get a dictatorship out just because he is ruthless (there are so many in the world why don't he target the others?). He and the people who runs this world wants to control oil production and jacking up the price, hence high oil prices now. Why oild you ask? Because oil is required for everything single product out there and it's important to our life. To understand more, you should watch "The oil non-crisis" on youtube or google video.

You have no real logic at all do you. You claim bush went into the war for oil because hes not nice? what kind of statement is that? Also if bush did go into iraq for oil he wouldnt be makeing any money for it would take so much oil to run all the machines of war over there. Also how would he be able to sneak the oil out of Iraq? The UN has kept its eyes on iraq seeing it has troops there. It would be impossible for him to take oil out.
