For what I'm looking for, the tank like features of the challenger RT, make it a good daily driver over the camaro and mustang. I currently live in MN and the Challenger RT has the best winter handling out of all three. The mustang and camaro have and always will me winter death traps (IMO) Call me a practical muscle car buyer if you will. Oh and SRT8s are winter death traps as well and it's hard as hell to find snow tires and rims that will clear their brakes, thats why I prefer the RT app:
Many people are just saying what they think is the best of these. But, there is more to these cars than looks.......I would say, actually that the challenger is the WORST of the bunch. This is simply because the interior is rubbish, it is massive, it is slow, and the worst to drive. I would say the camaro is second almost completely because it is hard to live with. The blind spots are absolutely HORRIBLE and it's hard to see out of. The mustang is small, agile, and easy to live with. Easy winner
@HotCet Because they are comparing the v8 counterparts. If they were to use the SRT8 in a test, it would be competing with the Shelby GT500/Boss 302 and the ZL1, as they are all the top-spec models of all of these muscle cars. hope that answers your question :)

Mustang has the best bang for your buck. Fast, powerful, great-looking inside and out, and many options. I've seen some Mustangs go for around 60k and I've seen others go for around 20k.

I rented the Ford Mustang for a week. It's a really nice car for short, in-town driving. Being 6'1" with a medium sized body the interior felt a bit cramped to me on long interestate drives. Even with the seat pulled all the way back, my knees still bump against the bottom of the dashboard, and felt like I was seated in a go-kart.
@Phantazmagoriia thats exactly the same problem i have with fords. im 6'2 215 lbs and as far as i can go back my knees or shins bump the bottom edge of the dash and its a bit sharp. i drove my aunts new mercury mariner and i think if i had a front end crash, the dash would chop my legs off at the shins lol. the late 70s-80s and some early 90s fords are fine, its after they redone the interiors i have that prob. just not comfortable in a ford, really no other complaints.
But Mr. My stock challenger always smokes all of the camaros around my town. And the mustang don't even wanna race. Not sayin anything is better but I think there should have been more time spent on the challenger. That pissed me off

I've driven all three. The Mustang is the same old boring car from 1994. Chevy sure made one ugly camaro both inside and out. I have to agree that the 2008-2010 Challenger's handling needed improving. The 2010 felt heavy to drive.
The 2011 challenger suspension is perfect. This car is in a league well above the camaro and mustang. It's like compaing apples to oranges.

Both the Camaro and Mustang are built to be agile cars where the Challenger is built more for comfort so of course it's not going to handle as well as the other two. Every testing company uses the Challenger R/T with the 5.7L HEMI, why? The SRT8 is a better comparrison to the Camaro. What idiot decided to test a convertible against two coupes? Ford and Chevy killed that personality by making "muscle cars" into the 80's and beyond. Challenger was reborn and retains its personality today.

I prefer the Challenger for all the same reasons this guy puts it down: I like very old school, American, pure mass. That can work for you if you know how to drive. If you want light and nimble you're better off with a BMW.

I am fascinated by American car design. Yes, American muscle cars are heavy, have big engines that consume lots of fuel (not really affordable these days) but still, gosh I love 'em.
The only thing that bother me is the quality of interior materials used. It's a known fact they're poor quality in comparison to European or Eastern cars, but hey, does it really matter? It's a MUSLE car.
Anyway, I'd love to know if a modern muscle car is so easy to repair as it was in the old days.

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 is the way to go. Performance is important but with muscle cars looks are also key. Seriously, new Mustang looks like crap (05s were better). The Camaro looked good in pics on the street it looks very poor especially from the side and rear. Gotta give the nod to Challenger. The vette is the only chevy I would consider.

Every testing company is retarded... No SRT8s for them. And the 2011 Charger SRT8 is faster than the Camaro, and handles about the same. And neither of tue others have decent sized cargo space at all, which takes a dump on practicality. The Dodge may be big, but it's not wastefully big.

Ford will always be king. it was the only one not discontinued. it has been the heart of muscle cars. the only one that kept beating, & kept the muscle alive. now, the camaro which is the only other legitimate muscle car took over the throne for 1 year, 2010. then the mustang came back and kicked the crap out of everything all over again the next year. the other brands are once again playing catch up. not only that, but as they chase the gt, the boss is back, get ready. always Ford tough.

@mustangs4life25 mustang has ruled 47 years, nothing is quite like a mustang. #1 in sales and #1 in this country period! I like the old camaro's 67-69, when they didn't look like full sized cars. There's too much sheet metal on the new ones today, and they weigh much more than a Stang. And the rear of the car is ugly as hell.

Every testing company uses the Challenger R/T with the 5.7L HEMI, why? The SRT8 is a better comparrison to the Camaro. What idiot decided to test a convertible against two coupes? However, no matter which versions are tested the Challenger tops the others in looks and is an all around bad ass. People forget that muscle cars are built on personality. Ford and Chevy killed that personality by making "muscle cars" into the 80's and beyond. Challenger was reborn and retains its personality today.

I prefer the Challenger for all the same reasons this guy puts it down: I like very old school, American, pure mass. That can work for you if you know how to drive. If you want light and nimble you're better off with a BMW.

I am fascinated by American car design. Yes, American muscle cars are heavy, have big engines that consume lots of fuel (not really affordable these days) but still, gosh I love 'em.
The only thing that bother me is the quality of interior materials used. It's a known fact they're poor quality in comparison to European or Eastern cars, but hey, does it really matter? It's a MUSLE car.
Anyway, I'd love to know if a modern muscle car is so easy to repair as it was in the old days.

@compprufus Not really, the Mustang gets up to 31mpg and thats a stock Mustang/automatic for $23,990. It's also got great quality interior, but shit, I'd only care about the seats and the steering wheel. What, are you going to be touching the center console and the padded material covering the door? My grandmother owns an eastern made car and it's cramped as all hell. It put my old Focus to shame despite being bigger. Now, my Fusion Hybrid is just not a fair comp since her car costed apr$14,000.

Camaro looks like an oversized HotWheel, but does have the best performance.
Challenger has the best looks, and usability, plenty of space for passengers n cargo.
Mustang fits in the between, its got good styling, n got decent usability. only thing holding back its performance is that Live REAR Axle

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 is the way to go. Performance is important but with muscle cars looks are also key. Seriously, new Mustang looks like crap (05s were better). The Camaro looked good in pics on the street it looks very poor especially from the side and rear. Gotta give the nod to Challenger. The vette is the only chevy I would consider.
