Hitler wanted an alliance with the United Kingdom. Hitler was an Anglophile, he loved Britain and the British people. He even tried to get into Art School in Liverpool, but was unsuccessful.
Hitler admired the British Empire and wanted to be part of it.
He knew that to own a quarter of the globe as Britain did, Britain had to be a very powerful nation. He wasn't wrong.
I have created a music album which charts this same period of British history:
Britain At War - Darkest Hour by Rhesus Monkey. The album covers the Prelude to War, The King's Speech, The Battle of France, Dunkirk, The Battle of Britain, and of course The Blitz. I've also created a video to accompany Churchill's address to the United States in June 1941: 'The Old Lion'. You can view that video within my YouTube channel.
Recently, I found your channel and want to say thank you! My father who is British will be 91 years old on 11/26/2011 he lost everything during WWII, and to show him your vids of London puts a smile on his face! My mother who was from Wales was a WWII surgical nurse who would have really enjoyed these moments captured in time! Cheers and thanks again!
This is an amazing bit of footage > It's funny really but as i was growing up i always noticed a big difference in the way my grandparents generation talked about the war and the way the parents did . The difference was the grandparents were adults in the 1940s and the parents were kids. In 2011 if you really want to know what it was like then.. talk to 90 year old not a 70 year old . An read Mass Observation too .. ordinary comtempory accounts shattering the myths

@henrycaville Typical comment from a liberal knobhead who supports human degradation...homophobic? so what? Is homosexuality normal? that's a mental sickness my friend.
Out of all the people who lost their lives during the war there's only one person who's seen it all, lived through it all and still lives on today, his name is Big Ben.
You notice the decline in respect from the youth today since it became illegal for a school teacher to give you a slap if you were out of line. Or since a police office was unable to give you a good kicking for breaking the law.
Thank you, the video has sound but for some reason in did not happen with this clip ,go see more from TOPCAMERMAN they do have sound HAPPY CHRISTMAS enjoy all J
Ahhhh! Good old London, England. Back in the days before the rot set in. When bobbies could still clip you round the ear, when parents didn't go into schools to attack teachers who'd disciplined their children. When people didn't spit on the pavement and when pedestrians used litter bins.
@BNCA70 ahh yes, I'm 15 but im not one of these hoodys who does around nicking sweets from the corner shop. I'm a good lad, becasue I know if i step out of line my parents aren't afraid to give me a slap :o It helps being home educated too though.
I totally agree with jasoncward - since I'm way too young to have experienced it and since there are not that many films and pictures in colour I like this one very much! It really shows the style of the 1950s - and it's so nice to see how the places you've already been to looked like more than 50 years ago...
A great look at wartime London - and in color! Many of us who didn't live through it too often think of the time in black and white since most of the pictures lacked color. This is really an intersting bit of film and I hope you can post more if you have it. Thanks!
I enjoyed this video so much, reminded me of the London I loved, so different then.

Just after the Downing St shot was that smoke over the rooftops that he was filming? As it was 1944 it could have been smoke following a V1 bomb?

I would have liked to have seen the Flying Fortress at the beginning of this clip, instead of the four words in big, red, massive letters.
