  • Wow I made this video when I was 13... time flies.

  • The thing I don't get it, why even try to escape? They offer you free food and shelter. Better than being on the front lines, no?

  • @leafyutube It's their duty to try to escape, join their troops again and continue fighting the enemy.

Of course it's nicer to live in that camp, than to die on the front lines. But they weren't cowards. They wouldn't watch their buddies fighting and dying, while they enjoy the easy life in camp. They wanted to win that war for themselves, their family, their country and because of their belief in justice, humanity and democracy. And you can't win a war while enjoying the easy-going POW-life.

  • @MrRemembertheALAMO

I never thought of it that way.

In my opinion, one of the greatest movies ever made, Thank God no one has tried to do a shitty remake…RIP Steve McQueen

  • Danny: Hendly I need a pick! A good heavy one

    Hendly: Only one?

    Danny: Two would be better!

    LOL!

  • poor Ives...

  • I so love this movie! "wow"

Could I swap with Jimmy Coburne? I'd be great with that watching and lifeguard thing! Really!

I also love the scene were the cooler king grabs the keys from the guard but it's not in here...

  • I really enjoyed this movie. But this movie's premise and style was taken from another amazing film called "Grand Illusion." And even to a greater extent "Le Trou."

Nevertheless, still enjoy this movie whenever I get an opportunity to watch it.

  • Could someone post the entire Movie again? The as$hole, " censors", took it down about 2 months ago; Thanks !

  • love it -wish i could find password is courage in full ... xx

  • lol straigt down 3 feet, he should have used wood, and dug out 12 ft of dirt, then tried it, moving the wood along. Would have worked. lol back to the cooler!

  • It's been years since I read the book, but the problem with the "mole" plan is that there's no way to compact the freshly dug earth back to its original mass, so pretty soon you run out of room. Like if you dig a hole, then refill it; there's always a mound of extra dirt left.

Brilliant movie, though, with great characterizations. It was the first film I ever fell in love with; I kept returning to the theater to see it over and over.

  • @LCabrillo Yes, the 'mole' would eventually run out of room. It was meant for short distances and a minimum of 30 feet of 'starter tunnel' was needed for three men to succeed over a 100 foot distance. The idea was actually used twice, the first time with complete success and the second with near success.

  • comedy works well in a serious story... or vice versa... look at the serious moments from All in the Family....

  • 8:02 - Many shows have tried that, but never did it as well as this.

  • "I'm a lifeguard" lol. Great line

  • The best film ever made. Makes me feel proud to be British !

  • Thanks for the post! One of the greatest movies ever made. I hope a remake is never filmed!

  • I would be sad if they made a remake of it because it could never be as good as the original.

  • "'i love you'?! what bloody good is that??"

"i dont know, i wasnt going to use it, myself"

    lol thats a good one

  • you really picked the best scenes from the movie, I hope the turner classic movie channel plays this movie again soon

  • hillarious !! the whole movie is hillarious ! so subtle and brilliant, thanks for posting it, its a classic... even more, its a legend !!

  • Coburn/Bronson bit is good. I love the whole moonshine sequence. McQueen's parched "wow" always gets me laughing. This movie is the greatest.
