In response to your question. Jesus is our Sabbath day. The Sabbath day in the O.T. was a forshadow of Jesus. He is our rest. He has done it for us. We rest in Him. Because what he has completed and accomplished on the cross, His buriel, His resurrection, and His ascension, there is nothing for us to to but put our trust and faith in Him. All the work has been done.
Mosaic Laws (annual sabbaths) were a foreshadow of Christ. Then when He came, they were fulfilled (Col 2:14-16) and hence done away with them at the cross because after Christ had come, there's no longer any need to keep the shadow of Him.
The moral Sabbath is not a shadow of Christ. We honour it for creation (Ex. 20:11) and for redemption (Deut 5:12). All 10 Commandments Stand forever (Ps. 111:7-8) and hence The moral Sabbath remains.
@ChristineMcoy Evidently you are not acquainted with the Lord of the Sabbath,
Because If you were you would understand that the Sabbath is as eternal as is the Lord Jesus. Open My eyes that I may see, glimpses of truth Thou hast for me.
Place in my hand the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free of error
@Boricua39aug, I'm not sure of your position on the sabbath. It's vague and could be interpreted different ways. I am very acquainted with the Lord of the Sabbath. He is my everything. Please clarify. Thanks.
@TreasuresOfTheLORD NT believers are no longer under the OT Law. Christians can choose to rest on Saturday or not. We have that freedom in Christ. Check out verse Col. 2:15-17. There are some that think we are saved by grace then we must live under the law, but that isn't scriptural. God has written His law on our hearts. We live by a higher law and that is To Love Him with all our hearts, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors.
Christ vinidciated and honored The Law of God. He said He came to fulfill it, not to do away with it (Matt 5:17-19). If you LOVE as Jesus did, you will 'fulfill it'. David says that the whole Law stands fast forever and ever (Ps. 111:7-8). The book of Revelation foretells that there will be no sin in heaven (Rev 21:27) and thus everyone hoping to go there must be 100% obedient to God's Law (Rev 22:14). James 2 points out that we are judged by our works, although saved by Christ
Just wanted to thank you and let you know that we are very much enjoying including your excellent videos in the worship sessions at the new English-speaking church that we have started in Boquete, here in the west of Panama, Central America.
Thank you for sharing, and may God bless you in your ministry.
