  • The cooling in the lower section doesnt look well designed. The two exhaust fans are close to the power supply which also exhausts air. Those 3 will share air from the front intake fan that has one half obstructed by the front panel...

Better would be a design with power supply mounted fan down to intake air from outside the case.

  • haha En Zed Ex Tee

  • nice heater

  • is that vantec fan anygood in terms of cfm

  • 外人って何で雑なの?

  • thanks for this video. It was very helpful in making my buying decision.

  • Lol "Finally have a listen to the stock cooling" *Turns it on* *No difference*.

  • i swear to god i switched videos... this review sounds exactly like all your other reviews, you even have the same tone of voice LOL!

  • What? Sound dampening at front, back, and bottom?

Bottom is understandable mention, but back, there is no place to put the sound dampening, because there is fans, Power supply exhaust holes, PCI-E brackets. When you put the sound dampening at the back, it simply block every functions at the back of PC, and front, there are front fan and 5.25 bays. What you only can do at front, is cutting down the sound dampening material and stick it on each of 5.25 bracket.

  • for those who use a DAW PC this is the case for you :3 ... I wish there still stock of this here in Asia though every place even in Japan where I live doesnt have it anymore :/

  • Are you Andy Leavy from Redeye on Fox news?

  • Watched a lot of your videos and you keep talking about a port for the CPU cooler retention plate access. I've never seen a case that had one so it must be a rare species and I'm not sure why you keep saying "it doesn't have one" like you're displeased.

I'm pretty sure that having a large hole like that in the motherboard tray would greatly reduce it's rigidity and increase the possibility of warping of the tray and shorting of the motherboard. I would pass on a case that had an opening there.

  • @junkymagi usually they are used so its easier to mount your CPU Heatsink. fare enough some people dont like them. but sometimes they are a big help. :D

  • @junkymagi I think you never look at the recent competitive mid/full tower cases. Every single (mid/full tower) gaming case or case for PC modifier/enthusiast does have one.

You wanna mention the examples? All Corsair cases, Coolermaster HAF series, CM series, Gradiator series, All Antec's gaming cases and Dark fleet series, All recently released Silverstone, Most recent case from Lian-Li. All Bitfenix case, All recent Zalman's case and recently NZXT, too There are sooo many of case do that

  • i think almost everyone needs a full tower for the newer grapich cards lol

  • That foam looks like a great way to get a ton of dust.

  • I have two of these cases and they ROCK!!! The sound dampening works and I am glad for it.. the second build I did with this case I got a pair of different fans with out the acoustic dampening I would have driven myself crazy. it does support EATX mobos ( particularly the dual proc versions.. just be careful of the fans you get ! for space was tight but I managed.

  • Bought one of these last week and am waiting for it to arrive. Didnt realise it was a steel construction - sweet! Heavier cases mean less noise. Just like speakers.

...That's why my speaker boxes have been cast out of concrete, lol.

  • The water cooling holes on the back are very small, I am going to have to cut one of the vents to allow my 3/4" OD hose to pass through. My old Antec 900 had massive holes

  • will it fit a 5970 black edition

  • @extremegaminglive it will laugh about it ;)

  • how good could the cooling of ther 9HDD be with only the 120mm fan

  • + 2 80mm fans for hdd's and front 120mm the top 120mm has to suck and push all the air for other drives, a bad cooling design and it generates 39dba outside of the case when closed so much for a "silent" case

  • @ipullstuffapart i own one of those, the only sound you hear is the front fan. a noiseless computer is nearly impossible because of the airflow (fannoise)you need. cheers

  • @Decebal825 its a 140mm at the front and two 80mm in the back, so its pretty windy in there :))

  • Comment removed

  • @David12King yeah rofl :D

  • I see on the nzxt website, they will send u a 3x5.25" 120mm fan holder if you just ask

  • nice video, i get one for 60€ today....

3:45 carefully sliding back... hahaha i break apart

  • i say go with the S

  • HE NEEDS TO DO A REVIEW OF THE CM690 PURE

  • this case is awesome.. very tempted to get it but i think its going to get very hot inside the case with 3 graphics cards.. and it only has 2 180mm fans.

so im thinking of getting the cooler master s.

What you think ppl.. which is better for cooling and air flow?

    thanks :)

  • One question! and pls respond, asap, if that is possible... what is better?

    Silverstone Raven SST-RV01B ?

    oR

    NZXT Whisper?

    pls answer!

and one question, does the silverstone case, making a lot of sound?? (in a quiet room..)? < if i use a lot of fans?(around, 3. mayb 4? working with 1800-2000 rpm)

  • Gonna buy this chassi next week, but I'll change all the stock fans except the one in the front to Noctua fans, they are the best on the market in terms of sound/performance :)

Nice review, the sound comparison with/without side panel is just sick :P

  • Best part at 3:45 .

"And then _CAREFULLY_ slide it back into the harddrivecage" *BAM* *BAM* *BAM*

  • i laughed when is aw that it was kinda funny^^

  • hahaha i noticed that too, i was like hmm...

  • @vinzenzr haha that was hilarious!!

  • loooool

  • @vinzenzr

I lol'd so hard, was about to post the same thing xD

  • RODNEY you need to work more

    where is the review of

    COOLBAY HX

    EL DIABLO

    MYTH

  • Another Intake Fan for the upper Cell would be great ...

  • great videos, very informative.

  • When are you going to do a review about the nzxt khaos?? :)

  • when he can afford one! those things are gigantic overpriced pieces of junk! i did a build in one when the i7 cpus came out. they were a terror to build in, the side panels didn't fit properly, and one of the USB ports on the top of the case was faulty. its a shame because most of NZXT's cases are great (i've built in a tempest, a lexa, a rogue, a hush, an apollo and a guardian 521 and they were all great)

  • he does not buy them

he gets them for free from the companies and this is something like his paycheck

  • yeah you're right about the getting parts for free, i guess I didn't remember that part when i made that comment. either way, the khaos is a pretty terrible (for it's massive price) case.

  • he did the review as of 2day

  • He reviews them when he gets it, or if he even wants to review it.

  • Aww you could still hear the loud fan.

Then again, I have MUCH weaker fans, and they still sound about the same when he put the side panel back on.

  • Yeah, just think that the fan he used is a fan which you wouldn't get anyway.

I"m getting this case, the only things in the system that will make a bit of noise is the Corsair 750W PSU, the eVGA 9800GT Superclocked GPU and a bit of sound from the Zalman CNPS9700 LED CPU Cooler, but that is made to be quiet, so not much worry there.

I think my machine is going to be a very quiet one, unlike the system i'm using now.

  • Okay I have one question, I really want to build a new computer but i have no clue really how to build one, should I buy this?

  • Did he even switch it on when we heared the stock cooling? Holy crap that's silent.

  • DAMN OWNAGE CASE!!!

  • I thought he was a Western Digital fan but he had a Seagate drive at 3:44

  • this guy is awsome. He can talk fast but you can still understand him. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE HES MAGIC!

  • Hey Rodney,

Are you going to be doing any video of the HIS turbo 512mb 4870?

    Thanks! Love the vids!

  • i meant &fmt=30

  • It doesn't work the higher the number the better the quality. fmt=18 (mpeg4 HQ) is better than 30, and =6 is true high def flv.

  • i like he's reviews ;]

  • Jesus I have to say, the clarity of this vid in HQ is insane!

Adding &fmt=6 really makes is HD qual.

  • i add &fmt+30,lol

  • Pardon my American ignorance but why do you say "zad" instead of "Z" in your reviews? Thanks..

  • Wow... He says "carefully slide the Hard drive back into the case." (3:46) then he does the exact opposite. :P

  • Thank you

  • nice review rod, as usual, and btw, have you ever reviewed a case from thermaltake's soprano series? (the RS, DX...)

  • Why that reminds me so much of... Antec P182b?

  • i agree with the sound dampening.

  • the tornado sounds like my mom vacumming right now!

  • lol @ 2:31... "the one at the battommm"

  • I'll be there when you get yout hands on the new Coolermaster Atcs 840, Rodney :P

Really need to see that review!

  • Hope to have a video review on Coolermaster Atcs 840 case later this month (Nov 2008).

  • nice review, loving the noise demos, very helpful!

  • lol 5:45 the screen at the left of Rodney =p

  • That tornado fan is a fuckin nightmare!

  • Do you have nay ratings lower than "Great Product?"

  • any*

  • He doesn't review bad products:P

  • Yeah, he has "An Overall Great Product"

    lol

  • Lmao

  • Yes, two lower ratings; Needs Work and Great Value.

  • okei thanks mate

  • brxazilian is a fag

  • thts it noisey even with the sound dampening

  • I have this case, its fantastic :)

  • Thanks Rodney for the 100% kickass review

  • when in the world will nzxt start making good looking cases??

Whats going wrong with youtube i try without logging in and even switch between different browsers i keep getting "we are sorry this video is no longer available"

    Any way to fix this>??

  • Very silent case. :O

  • ugly =(

  • With a small investment you can make a case that is just as great. Innovatek makes foam plates...

  • Wow! Extremely silent! And i really like the construction system...PSU and HDD down...great for cablemanagment!

  • Haha its terrible, i mean 'great'... good review, seems like the front fan has a lot to suck through with the door as well :S does that sound stuff make it hotter?

  • That foam makes a large difference.

  • pretty good case for some file server.

  • wow thats pretty silent, lol i love how he gives the shit cases a 'great' reccomendation. It's his way of saying fuck u to the manufacturer

  • did you just listen to the part where he put in a really loud fan just to show the sound dampening effect?

  • FYI: A great rating is about 6-7/10

  • Omg, thats a super silent case!

  • So the motherboard chamber were one can stick two video cards has one (1) 120mm case fan, this is not going to be good for anyone looking at a gaming rig. It will be fine as a general user case but then you may as well get the better made Cooler Master CM690.

  • No this is not really intended for a gaming rig. Although it could be if water cooled everything (including the video card(s)). It would certainly be ultra quiet then.

  • I recently got an Antec P182 (sound dampening case). I'm very happy with it.. and from what I can tell it has a better design than this.

  • Cheap and nasty case by the look of things, not very well thought out ... better cases on the market, if this case sells for more than £30 your being ripped off...

  • Made me laugh at 3:44-3:48

Carefully slide it back into the cage.

Admittedly its hard doing that 1 handed while recording and talking, but just the emphasis on the word carefully and what happens is just funny.

  • LOL i see what you mean

  • Metal rails on a metal case = loud

  • Nice Case, i dont think i would run out to go and get one though.. I like the idea of the acoustic foam but there is something about this case tht i dont like.

  • lol i have one of these with some ultra kazes in it which is pointless cause the kazes are loud as shit

  • Looks cheap

  • I'd expect that to be kickass at the very least! that's an awesome case. I might use this instead of the antec 1200 for my next build

  • I need some rubber screwa ;( my case = so loud lately stupid fans :P

  • I don't understand why people freak out about computer noise. its so minute how can it even bother you? Maybe its just me but the noise doesn't even phase me...

  • you for got to say 100% kick ass product

  • not a kickasss O_O

  • nice, needs a clear side though! =P

  • Which would mean the sound dampening material would have to be removed, which is the main attraction with this case.

  • Thanks for reviewing! I was looking into this case.

  • Yeah Rod I also wonder about the acoustic foam keeping heat in that case, looks somewhat cramped and with only 3 fans I question that...

Have you perhaps tested the sauna like capabilities of that acoustic foam?

  • LOL

if you take a good look the fan on the middle is off.

  • Great stuff. Have been following you for a couple years now and appreciate the quality reviews. Exactly what consumers need.

    Thanks

  • seems like a pretty good case to me

  • Lawl, A new case w/ 80MM fans?

  • Considering the location, it's the only fans that would fit. Even though they are 80mm fan it's better to have them there then not.

  • carefully slide it back :)

  • rodney excuse me but..i think you are kinda hard about the "non remobable motherboard trays cases" ... theres a lot of room to work in that case.. i think is not something bad ...i think those big cases doesnt need a motherboard tray.. in fact is kinda dumb because the amount of room... sorry.. but... extended atx cases are ok.. people who wants motherboard trays with those are really lazy people... i dont want to be rude.. is just my opinion.. im a fan of you..sorry if i was a little rude

  • I hear ya, but I prefer a removable motherboard. I'm far from lazy, just really really busy and any time or headaches I can minimize I'll gladly take it. Being able install and remove the main hardware outside of the case is a godsend. Well, at least it is IMO ;) I really need to design my own line of cases.

  • DO IT!

  • loll.. place the hard drive CAREFULLY into the drive rack **RATTLES THE HD VIOLENTLY AGAINST THE CASE**

  • Rofl, was thinking the same thing as I was watching.

  • LOL!! He couldnt fit it in!!

  • DAMN its LOUD! ROFL!

  • Doesnt the sound dampening panels make the case temps hotter?

  • @ S3S6X, the heat can't absorb into the side panels

its like wearing a jacket on a warm day

  • But wouldnt it act like a blanket? Keeping the warm air in?

  • Putting other pieces of foam into the case is probably an expensive hassle for the manufacturer but they should supply extra pieces for the builder to apply. Thanks Rodney.

  • NZXT keeps copying Antec.

  • Sound dampening material would probably only serve to retain heat in the case. Who cares how quiet it is if everything thing is over heating? And How many cases must you review? It's incredibly mundane.

  • Who the hell gives a shit? The reviews are awesome!

  • its real loud for its name lol

  • "Mount the hard drive in the hard drive bracket and carefully put it into the hard drive cage.." SMASH! BANG! CRASH!

  • LOL

  • lol i lol'd irl :D

  • Dang that other case fan sounded like a Vacuum cleaner lol

  • That's what 56.4 dB(A) sounds like. It spins at 4800 RPM so finger tips can be badly damaged if your not careful - OUCH! Believe it or not there are louder, faster fans out there.

  • have you seen ever delta fans? they are VERY loud :D

  • iv lost a finger end on a 'plastic' fan spinning at 12000 rpm, it was overvolted but strangly didnt burn out. im scared to even touch fans spinning less then 2000rpm now :(

  • Ow man

  • Pretty nice looking case.

  • pikabu

  • thank goodness he didn't say "kick ass"

  • but its cool when he says it!

  • I know it is

I'm saying he didn't rank it "Kick Ass"

  • oops I mean

good thing that he didn't rank it "Kick Ass"

srry I was typing too fast didn't make sense lol

  • oooh, lol sorry bout the thumbs down.

  • lol its ok my fault to not make sense =/

  • Looks like it might be good for modding.

  • agreed

  • LOL

  • case looks cool thanks for the review

  • Nifty.
