If that's Ogre's opinion on Final Destination and Saw, I'd hate to hear his opinion on the Spike TV show "1000 Ways to Die"... and how it's gone on for 3 seasons already. Heh...
That said, I watched the first three movies, didn't bother seeing the fourth or fifth, and with Saw, I just watched the first two films, then lost interest.
All things considered, I consider the series successful (hard not to, it's spanned 5 and 7 films, respectively), but... it's just not my cup of proverbial tea.
i have to agree with Ogre final destination is a really bad movie it has no plot to it it is just a movie that is only based on its gore if I want to see a gorey movie I rather watch a horror movie where theres some gore and has some sort of weird story.

I was impresed with the first Final Destination because it was psychologically disturbing. The way it shows innocent events leading to a horrible death? Very unsettling, and a solid premise for a horror movie. The ones after that? Just an excuse to kill a lot of people, and even goes against the original premise, so no thank you.

God, those Tribals are the cutest lil' things I've ever seen.
At this stage of the game, I pretty much used the plasma shotgun exclusively against the big purples. Particularly useful for limiting collateral damage (so you don't use explosives around Tribals)
No kidding, Ogre. Mangled flesh alone does not make a good horror film. In this one's opinion, you can watch several other horror anime and get a much better effect that most movies.
Petite Cossette and Evangelion spring to mind instintly. Sure, they aren't realy Horror oriented, but their better mind fucks then things like Saw and FD.

Your pistol reticule responded to the security panel. I believe if you are searching for the hard to find panels that your homing missiles could help. They'll lock on if you wave the gun over them, and then reveal where they are. Then, switch to your pistol or shotgun and unload.
I believe that is how it works.
Also, the lantern carrying tribals can fill your flamethrower. Just shoot'em first.

May I just say that to me, there have been next to zero good horror movies for years. The Shining is one of the only horror movies I find good (Though I haven't seen any recent horror movies... As far as directors go, though, David Lynch definitely does some messed up crazy stuff.

Won't disagree or agree with you on Final Destination but Saw I find entertaining. Though, that's probably mostly because I find engineering interesting so all the killing machines are fun. I think it's probably the same reason why I watch Mythbusters.

Yeah. This. Saw's concept is that a psycho is telling you to do something and you must keep doing it or he kills you. Which isn't the most compelling backstory. It would be impossible to get anything much but a slaughterfest out of it.
The basic concept behind Final Destination is a lot deeper. The characters are faced with fate itself as an opponent. How do you defeat fate? It sets the seed for a story more epic than the one that ultimately gets told.(Fight fate by being a horror movie cliche)
Well, Saw's concept has some VERY slight merit to it. A guy decides to find people with horrible character faults, and tortures people with an aspect of said character fault, to try and teach them how to be better people.
Unfortunatly, the movies go waaay to far into the "humans are iredemable basterds" path, and thus more or less everyone dies.
Like with FD, I think the concept MIGHT actually give us a decent movie, if they went about it the correct way.
I have similar feelings about Final Destination and Saw. They don't really have interesting plots or characters, although Jigsaw was a pretty interesting character to learn about. My mom LOVES those films, and all I can thin kis that it's not really horror films, it's gore and death. But everyone is entitled to enjoy different things, but if you get stiff watching those people get killed, keep it to yourself and try not to go postal, you freak.

honestly, I enjoyed the saw series just cause I liked how creative they got with the methods of death rather than "Bullets fire out of gun into your face" But the Final Destination Series was more on the lines of too far. I honestly think saw has an underlying message to it (at least the first 3 did) But final destination was pure destruction and death. Also I wanna be like Rome T^T they were a powerful nation who didn't let fuck ups (not naming anyone) rule over them. Amusing rant either way :D

The ideas of Saw and FD are pretty great, but they try to "gross" you out too much. I rather read about the plots than go see the movies.

Won't disagree or agree with you on Final Destination but Saw I find entertaining. Though, that's probably mostly because I find engineering interesting so all the killing machines are fun. I think it's probably the same reason why I watch Mythbusters.

I utterly despise movies like Saw and Final Destination. But atlest for FD, I like the CONCEPT. People avoid their apointed time of Death, Death is supremly pissed at this, Death fixes what once went wrong.
I just wish they went with it in a more adult, and less murderfest mainstream bullcrap way.

Yeah. This. Saw's concept is that a psycho is telling you to do something and you must keep doing it or he kills you. Which isn't the most compelling backstory. It would be impossible to get anything much but a slaughterfest out of it.
The basic concept behind Final Destination is a lot deeper. The characters are faced with fate itself as an opponent. How do you defeat fate? It sets the seed for a story more epic than the one that ultimately gets told.(Fight fate by being a horror movie cliche)

Well, Saw's concept has some VERY slight merit to it. A guy decides to find people with horrible character faults, and tortures people with an aspect of said character fault, to try and teach them how to be better people.
Unfortunatly, the movies go waaay to far into the "humans are iredemable basterds" path, and thus more or less everyone dies.
Like with FD, I think the concept MIGHT actually give us a decent movie, if they went about it the correct way.
Saw and FD are still horrible.

I have similar feelings about Final Destination and Saw. They don't really have interesting plots or characters, although Jigsaw was a pretty interesting character to learn about. My mom LOVES those films, and all I can thin kis that it's not really horror films, it's gore and death. But everyone is entitled to enjoy different things, but if you get stiff watching those people get killed, keep it to yourself and try not to go postal, you freak.

I agree with Ogre most of those movies are just bad and I don't get why you would want to watch people die. might just be me but that's just a little messed up. same reason why i don't like slasher movies.

honestly, I enjoyed the saw series just cause I liked how creative they got with the methods of death rather than "Bullets fire out of gun into your face" But the Final Destination Series was more on the lines of too far. I honestly think saw has an underlying message to it (at least the first 3 did) But final destination was pure destruction and death. Also I wanna be like Rome T^T they were a powerful nation who didn't let fuck ups (not naming anyone) rule over them. Amusing rant either way :D
