  • Really? This is when Kahlan uses Con Dar? When being interrogated/tortured by Wizard Giller?

Funny, because in the book, she uses Con Dar after she thinks Richard has been killed. What's even more funny is that Giller dies before Kahlan ever gets to him and it turns out Giller was one of the good guys.

Oh, and what's also funny is that the book made the Con Dar sound a million times more awesome than what was shown here.

    1/10, fail series.

  • @Qaoz

I agree, it was so much cooler in the book, especially with what she made Demmin Nass do. There was no awesome ground-shaking or any of that. And I am also upset that Giller is seen as a bad guy, especially since he gave his life so selflessly in the book.

  • Giller's hot

  • someone should make a dramatic video of all the major momentus magic occasions, like this

  • i got into enya because of this, perfect song for the sean, although i kind of wanted to hear gillers casting, after the needles, before his death

  • genial scene!

  • looks like something from saw

  • I hate that they made Wizard Giller evil - in the book he gave his life to save people.

  • @Nightwish581 and @lilchantal13

This is from season one and the episode name is called 'Conversion.' I'm not sure the actual number out of the 22 episodes, but it is called Conversion. :)

  • @rollerchick1654 Oh ok :) tnx bytw this is the best show ever

  • @rollerchick1654 thank you

  • what season and ep is this ???

  • Best scene ever, seriously this episode hooked me to the show and Enya is the perfect addition! Thx for posting!

  • @JediGoddessChristy Thanks! No problem!

  • Her look also reminds me of Liv Tyler in Lord Of The Rings. They need a mischeivious magical character that they have to chase around stumbling over each other for an episode. Would be funny seeing Cara and Kahlan bump head to head into each other and Richard trip over Kahlan at some point.

  • I'm most glad that everyone gets a good piece of fighting & that Kahlan isn't some lame damsel in distress. Originally I found her fighting style odd 'cause she blocked/deflected EVERY type of hit with her arms; the big gown kept her legs tied. I kept thinking someone just sweep kick her already lol. Then they got her a 2nd outfit so she can kick. I was most impressed that she can handle a sword well and it's a bigger/thicker sword than Xena carried too. Awesome a female Valkyrie/swordswoman.

  • This scene was a big surprise. One of the best moments of Kahlan in the series. Memorable!

  • the need to protect richard is what brought fouth the con dar not anything that was physically done to kahlan. it was her love for richard and her need to protect him that caused this he didnt want to see richard at the mercy of darken rahl!

  • I don't know I think the pain brought out the con dar not necessarily the needles...but besides this in this scene one thing I did not understand, the confession is suppose to immediately kill the mord'sith but in this episode she confesses the mord'sith along with the guard. How do the mord'sith keep fighting? Is it because of the blood rage?

  • @purplekaity

It may have been from the fact that it was from the Con Dar but, as shown in later episodes, it takes a few minutes for the mord'sith to die after confession.

I can never be sure because I didn't make it, but from what I've seen from the clips, the mord'sith are not seen to serve Kahlan after so they probably died after Richard went after Rahl.

  • @purplekaity +1 about the pain but anyone notice how much she's like a blend of Rogue and Phoenix from X-Men? Can't make love with her love, extreme distress makes her go "Dark Phoenix" psychotic rage. I was going to say rampage but she didn't physically touch/break anything herself so rage is sufficient.

  • @purplekaity as I know, the Confession belongs to the additve Magic, the Condar is the opposite therefore it will not destroy the mord'sith as it is not gained from love but from hate. love (confession) would kill the mord'sith

  • @purplekaity I thought that the idea of richard being confessed and serving rahl

brought on the con dar. Also I think the mord sith have a few minutes before they

    die when confessed.

  • ok so, giller is poking kahlan with those ancient needles that are imbued with "very powerful magic". i was arguing with my friend that it looked like the needles awakened the con dar within her as they kept stressing how magic they were and how rare the blood rage is.

my friend argued that they were just pointy things in her and she could do that all along. she was just extra mad, and went for it.

what's your take? did the needles have anything to do with bringing the con dar to the surface?

  • @threeprongnet

Well, like it says at the end, Kahlan doesn't know either. I don't know if you've read the books but it says that the Con Dar can only be brought on for one person. So if Zedd was about to die, Kahlan could not possibly use it but it Richard was, she could.

I personally think that if a similar life-and-death situation had come up concerning Richard, Kahlan would have gone into the Con Dar. The magic probably did help it but I don't think it's the only reason/way =]

  • This is really good

This is one of my favorite scenes out of the whole LOTS. And I love the music that you put to it. You should have shown the bit where the spikes fly out of Kahlan and fly into Giller though

    But overall I liked it

  • Thanks!

I would have put that part in it but I didn't really have enough song for it. The song is Tempus Vernum by Enya but it fades right into another song on the CD that wasn't dark enough and I didn't really have any other 'dark' songs to use.

    Yeah...

    Thanks! =D

  • i really wish they would have gone more into the Con Dar part of the story than what they did.

the blood rage is soooo freakin cool !!

but since they aren't exactly following the book to a tee... maybe that will be part of season 2. her learning her inner ancient power of the Con Dar.

    Loved the Vid 5/5

  • Yeah, hopefully it will be in season two because it has to be known that it is a huge part of her. I know that obviously they were going to deviate from the books but I wish they wouldn't for such important things like the Con Dar and even the ending.

    Thanks though =]

  • completely agree!

i liked the ending... but i would have rather seen the book one because of how the book played out and of course the end where they kiss etc

  • the ending of the book is so romantic and everything, it made me so happy! But, noooooo, they have to change it for the show. They should have at least had her confess him accidentally then it doesn't matter because they love each other so much =]

The thing about that though, the other seeker and confessor must not have loved each other very much if she confessed him so maybe that's why they couldn't use it...

  • actaully... with vivian and kirin. their love was selfish... where as Kahlan and Richards love is Selfless.

i think that would be the main thing in why Kirin was fully confessed and how Richard would not be.

that would be a perfect way to approach the ending and still have it related to the book since the book was obviously more romantic and real imo. and with their love being Self-Less ... that being the key to unlocking true love between the Seeker and Confesser.

    idk, what do you think?

  • Yeah, I agree. I see your point too. I think they should have at least ended with something more like the book so the fans would be more content. It was only a little bit like it was supposed to. Have you read all the books? I wanted to know whether the Mistress Cara was in the books. I've only read the first two and some people were excited about her being in the season finale and I didn't see what was so great about her.

  • i love whenk kahlan uses the con dar. doesent anyone ever learn not to piss of kahlan lol. pissing of ricard isent a brilliant idea either. The music to this def makes it very dramatic! I hear that we should see the con dar again maybe an even more powerful one that leads to what happens in the book :). I hope the last episodes of this season are all intense with lots of kahlan/richard moments. I like how their relationship has been developed in this show!

  • I know right?

I thought the music would go well because Enya always goes well and since it was creepy and sort of evil, I thought it would fit with the Con Dar, not that the Con Dar is evil but it's sort of 'dark?' I guess? Thanks much!

  • I believe the Con Dar is the subtractive side of magic so it is dark. I like it! I love how kahlan and richard are both so definant.

  • It is. More specifically The Con Dar is the Subtractive Side of Confessor Magic. The Confessors Touch is the Additive side fueled by love while the Con Dar is, obviously fueled in part by rage.

  • Oooo, creepy, scary...awesome vd, Grace!

  • thank ya! =]
