Thank you for the nice video by the way.

    ciao

  • love all the comments I will be trying the recipe with the tweeks too this weekend....I'll you know how it turns out,...

  • @lovecats2011 I love the constructive comments because I learn a lot from them. It is always a good idea to read the comments on all my videos.

  • It sounds great, but could you list the measurements or a text version of the recipe?

  • Pathetic

  • 19hotstuff the man admitted he is not a good cook, were't you listening? lol

  • major disagreement on your prep

season oxtail with salt, blackpepper. onions, escallions, thyme garlic let that sit for a while

put on pot add a little oil and put the oxtail pieces in brown the meat for a couple of minutes add seasoning cover with enough water to cover meat, simmer for a couple of hours or use a pressure cooker about 20 mins to speed things up when meat is tender add a tin of broad beans and let it thicken dry beans may be used need to be added when the water is added

  • Your prep sounds very good. I am going to remake this video and this time I will add the broad beans. Do you know if the beans dissolve after cooking?

  • broad beans are sturdy if u r going tp use the dry 1's soak them and add them with just enough water to cover them u may want to take the meat out of the pot until the water with the beans start boiling the add the meat back and cover with room temp water this cause the beans to sink to the bottom of the pot which strangely makes the beans cook quickly and if using canned beans they are the last thing u put in a couple of minutes before u want to turn the stove of

  • @microdac, what you want to do for quick preparation is to simply buy a can or two of white beans (some people call them "butter beans"), add them to the meat before placing in the pressure cooker. You can these beans at most supermarkets. They have a very mild flavor and add a wonderful texture to the meal.

  • @CheezInspector Thanks for sharing your constructive and positive contributions. I hope the next person who see this video will also read your comments. Thanks again.

  • @microdac, hey no problem. Thanks for taking time to create your vid and help people :) All the best!

  • @19hotstuff , you are right about this, with a mom from Jamaica this is way similar to how oxtails is cook, not microdac way.. thanks for the correction

  • @19hotstuff hie, thanks for your comment.Could you advice what sort of seasoning you use before simmering.thanks

  • @19hotstuff instead of using BEANS, I use YELLOW TURNIPS (RUTABAGA) and it taste delicous

  • Thanks this does make it a quicker easier way. i think its great for people to adapt recipies. it makes them your own

  • I know you are trying, however we dont deep fry ox tail. we brown in oil till its brown. then place in a crock pot, add some ketchep, water, a tablespoon of butter, some ja dumplins, (spinners), your seasonsing, cook for a bout 1 hour, then take off, and add a can of butter beans

  • Great ideas all. Thanks. I love getting good and positive ideas. As for the 'spinners'. Yes!! I drop them in every chance I get. Have you seen tonight's video on beef stew? I added dumplings there, too.

  • @skippdatt1 deep frying is a faster alternative i do it but without the batter method

  • I have never had ox tails made like this...who told u to deep fry anything???????? But as along as you like it.......

  • The deep fry was simply to brown the Ox tail. It was only for a few minutes.

  • Thanks you. Very good suggestions!

  • ok kool video but if u take out the flour and brown the oxtail in a pot with little oil ur good to go.and if u dnt have 2hours try using a pressure pot that how we do it in Ja.

  • hellllll no yhu do not kno how 002 make ox tail

  • You enlighten us as to your expertise on the subject. Thanks.

  • sorry that was my little sister she can be a real douche bag at times i would say u cook oxtail differently but all the same it is still oxtail. its how ever u enjoy it. sorry for the useless comment

  • love oxtail yum

  • I was looking for an easy receipe for oxtail and I found it here!!! Bravo!!! My Jamaican friends enjoyed the food, and I WILL do it again,m at least once a month!!! I used the crockpot, and cook it at slow for 6 hours, everything was smelling good when I came back from work. Only had to cook some rice and beans and voila!!! Diner's ready in 10 minutes!!!

  • Oxtail in a crock pot! Brilliant idea. Thanks for the compliment. have you seen my 'microdac chicken' video? Simple, easy and delicious, AND, always taste the same. One of the few videos I did using exact amounts for the sauce.

  • Microdac, what brand of Jamaican oxtail seasoning did you use in the video? I ask becuase the price tag covered the name of the brand. Also, there are so many different brands of Jamaican oxtail seasoning out there, one is not sure which to use. Thanks.

  • The brand: Lall's Jamaican Oxtail Seasoning.

  • Oh, ok. Thank you. By the way, nice informative video and very good quality. I love oxtail and will be preparing some next week. Thanks for posting.

  • You are very welcomed. Be nice and keep sending your comments and suggestions. All the best, my friend.

  • Thank you. I have a quick question please. I have been looking around trying to find Lall's oxtail seasoning but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can this seasoning be purchased online somewhere?

  • Thanks for asking. I have checked the label and it has no address, website or phone number. Here is the phone number of the store where I bought it: (757) 466-0220. I hope they can help.

  • I will certainly give them a call. Thank you microdac.

  • another terrible video of how to prepare oxtail, man and there aint no ganja in oxtail.

  • I am willing to learn. Tell me how you prepare Oxtail. Thanks.

  • what the fuck this guys not even jamacian. real jamacian oxtail has 2 grams of ganja for every pound of oxtail.

  • good recipe, but where are the butter beans & dumplings, pray tell?

  • I agree 100% . I forgot the broad beans and dumplings. Forgive my shortcomings and keep supporting my videos. Thanks.

  • I tried Oxtail the other day but I didn't like the sauce they put on it :( and they put sooooo much sauce on it, it was like swimming in the sauce

  • Thankyou, microdac. I looooooove oxtail. I just wanted to chime in one last time to mention that a cheaper alterative might be beef shank (leg). It has the marrow bone in the middle, and the marrow cooks out into the stew. There is more actual meat per pound with beef shank.

Oxtail is king, but beef shank also has plenty of gelationous collagen (which is not fat) which is one key to making a great stew.

  • I like oxtail the next day, cooling off the cooked dish overnight, and removing the hardened fat off the top.

A freindly suggestion from me to you would be to leave the carrots in larger pieces to survive the hours of cooking and leftovers re-heating. Or, add them later. No matter what, oxtail is sooo succulent, and really hard to mess up.

    Cheers!

  • Maybe I should move to SoCal because I do love Oxtail. Thanks for your kind comments.

  • Very nice! Now, let's all agree to keep oxtail a secret to keep it from getting more expensive!

in SoCal, Oxtail usually runs about $4.50/lb. I bought a few pounds a couple of months ago for $3.29 at a regional Mexican owned supermarket. A freind of mine told me he paid $2.89/lb. at an Asian market.

I'm learning new stuff all the time. I love how the frying of the meat that way, makes its own roux, rather than searing the oxtails...then making a butter and flour roux.

  • damn...y'all steal everything...hahaha.... needed the recipe though....no sugar?

  • Thanks. Let me know if you need another recipe.

  • k ..first of all: DO NOT PUT STYROFOAM IN THE MICROWAVE.

  • Good Point. Thanks.

  • yeah mean its own fat

  • Thanks. Next time i will have the butcher cut off most of the fat. Good advice. Lima beans sounds good too.

  • $4.29 a pound!!!...i was screaming the other day when i saw it at $2.99...you need to add large broad beans and flour dumplings...nice video ..thanks

  • $4.99 was a good price. It has since gone up. I guess it is because an Ox has only one tail. (My attempt at humor). Thanks for the tip on broad beans and dumplings. I will definately try that the next time. Did you see yesterday's video on Fricasseed chicken?

  • Dude, having cooking videos in HD is just mean.

  • Watching in HD is an option.

  • I know, and its mean. The food looks so good.

  • Thank you. I'll be making some more soon.

  • Did you see my video on "Jamaican codfish fritters"? I received a 1 star on that video. I was hoping for at least a 2 star. I now have a can of seasoned bread crumbs. Needless to say, I will be using the bread crumbs in future recipes. Thanks.

  • Thank you for your suggestions and comments. Thank you. That is what makes me happy; making videos with people like yourself offering your comments. I am going to try that dried breadcrumbs the next time I make some.

  • It's only to thicken the gravy you know the bread crumbs I mean, I prefer using thebutter beans because that's the proper way!Crumbs are a substitute.

  • You must put canned butter beans in it but if you run out of those use dried stale breadcrumbs.

  • I love oxtail.

I never tried your way, but I soon will.

  • Thanks. Be sure to share the corrections and suggestions. Hopefully, we will all learn to make the perfect oxtail.

  • Deep frying them though is not necessary. I shallow fy the oxtails no fuss no muss!

  • Nice video!!! Went out and bought my ingredients lastnight and I'm going to start on this masterpeice right now!!! I'll tell you how it turns out.
