  • Which one is the good guy and which one is bad?

  • @DavidForce Depends on who you consider good and bad.

  • The guy at 2:06 looked liked Mel Gibson:P

  • wish men still fought like this today where men had balls to fight face to face instead now its who pulls the trigger first

  • @Eoin580 now its push button first

  • This does wonders while playing rome total war

  • Rome's no match for Alexander The Great's strategies. Lucky for Rome, Alexander died early. It wasn't they would and the KSA would be conquered and the rest of the Europe.... So sad Alexander died too early. Good for the barbarians.....

  • I wish they could make the actors say their lines in Latin...

  • dante was right, the deepest parts of hell are reserved for traitors and conspirators..... "knives in the senate house"....such cowardice is unforgivable.

  • Hey look, more Italians with British accents.

  • @Afcct12 Because there aren't enough Italian actors.

  • @Afcct12 lol would you rather have kevin costner?....i guess its their theatric history.

  • Why are the Romans British :[

  • This is actually quite well done; it's nice to see a proper battle line and gradual advance instead of the Hollywood riots that pass themselves off as historic battles.

  • this show pisses excellence.

  • excellent work that's excatly what i wanted to do but you did it first. Thx for your job

  • why isn't the battle in the series?

  • Wow how the fuck was this show cancelled? People want to watch garbage tv nowadays. Get some culture.

  • @Nickodemusodurn People want to see reality TV crap...the TV Channels are giving the people the cheap disgusting spectacles that they want...

  • simply epic vid with the music

  • what iam wondering why horses at 1.17 run up and down the line

    ?

  • @bleushift probably trying to find a weak spot in the line.

  • awesome

can you imagne how the adrenaline must be pumping whenyour the first guy in the frontline with ur buddys hand pushing u forward and the relieve when the whistle blows

  • OK ive never seen an episode of this show but always wondered how it was... but in my opinion this kinda sucks. ha sry just my opinion

  • Great series, but they portrayed this battle very incoherently. The Roman armies were well organized and regimented, then at 4:20 they show the battle dissolving into a free for all brawl.

  • Убогая сцена, создатели этого фильма даж историю не читали и понятия не имеют про римские легионы

  • lol at british accents

  • So if it is Roman fighting against Roman and they have the same uniforms, armor, and equipment how do they tell who is a friend or enemy in the chaos of battle?

  • @CrimsonGuard1992 Well back in the day each legion or army had their own codeword for civil wars, so they literally had to say the codeword each time they engaged in a duel with another soldier during a battle

  • @CrimsonGuard1992 they would have done something to distinguished, like ties of cloth other colour dies or shields.

  • the guy who palys antony (james purefoy i think ) is awesome the best thing about the series and hans zimmer is awesome

  • watching one of this battles in real life must have been something terrifying, epic and ... epic.

  • That script if absolutely appallingly bad.

  • this is historical accurate, both sides used the Lorica Hamata armors for the legions.

  • Civil war is THE shit. Great series.

  • 2:38 : "I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am!"

  • I like the twist at the beginning on Shakespeare's idea of brutus and cassius, and that instead of being pompous but noble, he is reckless but brave

  • What the hell is wrong with people cutting others dicks? Sick director, animator or producer whatever who had that idea.

  • At the end I just love the part the legionaries just go into testudo and then he yells shit and then they charge against maybe a legionary. Legionary = 4800men = 10 cohorts = 480 in a cohort.

  • @WarmthNess A legion*, legionary is one man. :)

  • @SternMann93 legion then ty for correcting me rofl :)

  • I'd hate to be in the front row. Or anywhere near that fight for that matter. Nice arrow placement though at 6:07.

  • Looks a bit like Rome: total war xd i always fought with the Jullii family

  • 4:08 OOHHH NOT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how can shows like this get cancelled yet all those shit reality shows like big brother prosper. that's how you know the human mind has devolved into a lower form of idiocy. stupid plebs making up the main populace, they should be thrown in an arena XD

  • @namdrut

It only got cancelled because the BBC couldn't afford their side of the deal with HBO to make it, its a shame, but big brother is much cheaper to make.

  • best part is at the end when they form a testuedo and an arrow breaks through the shields and lodges itself in some dudes face. 6:07 epic.

  • good job, fits nicely

  • The only things in the ancient world that could stand up to a Roman Legion....

    Another Roman Legion!

  • I thought I saw Mel Gibson at 2:06 :)

  • this show sucks

  • Antony's army didn't adopt the new Marian gear for this battle? I'm pretty sure they did.

  • how pathetic was the initial charge.................atleast Spartacus Blood and Sand has decent action sequences, and more boobies!

  • fukn rms. long live Greece!!

  • 3:23 why they not use pilums ? Absolutley not historical and not realistic .

Also rome legioners formation not historical too !!!!!

  • @vlad9vt

Both armies decided not to use pilums because the two forces were both veteran armies and I guess they though they would not be worth using or dishonorable to use against other Romans or something like that.

  • i dont get it. ho won

" Rome was a great series, but the English actors in it can't seem to give up that Shakespearean style of acting they are bred with"

This commenter *has* to be American. HBO/BBC selected english actors epecially to depict the classic feel of the time, and the aristocracy in which the main characters lived. What do you want, seriously? "Like, OMG, lets totally march on rome" ?? Give me a too-english depiction over an americanised one anytime.

    Ps, I'm Irish, not english.

  • nice, the music is for gladiator

  • No they picked English actors over American because American audiences expect any film with people carrying a sword and shield to have foreign accents. It wasn't always like this. Before Hollywood started outsourcing talent movies about Rome always had American accent. It is also about money. British actors work for less. The guy who played Marc Antony in this said they were called the White Mexicans of Hollywood.

  • I disagree. I think you have a culture of american movie makers insisting that the lead part go to an american- Ben hur- Charton Heston, Spartacus- Kirk douglas ..I could invoke this precedence all day, which was nothing more than to appease american audiences and bring them in to the cinemas. Fact is the supporting casts of these sorts of movies were dominated by english actors for their ability to lend an air of aristocracy and a flavour of acting that cant be done by US actors.

  • It has nothing to do with aristocracy every single character in this show had an english accent including the plebs, if you even know what that means.HBO an American company designed it this way. "Moreover, anything with a sword-and-sandals theme offers employment opportunities to British thespians. It has often been suggested that American audiences expect their Romans to speak like the English. So the HBO/BBC mini-series Rome was peopled by British and Irish stars." - BBC

  • BBC: Why are British actors playing Americans?

    remove spaces

  • @NJRocks281 not at all, American accents sound ridiculous in historical films. Britain is usually associated with the past, America the future.

  • TO crush PHILIP TUBBB ONCE AND FOR ALL!

  • They had birthday cakes in ancient Rome?

  • @kevinguy247 from wikipedia: In classical Roman culture, 'cakes' of flat rounds made with flour containing nuts, leavened with yeast, and sweetened with honey were served at special birthdays.

  • @kevinguy247 Ancient Rome found a shit load of things we still do today

  • @kevinguy247 yup

  • @kevinguy247 yes.. actually most were made from wheat dough and manna, honey, and cinnamin. topped with exotic fruits.

  • @kevinguy247 Yes indeed. According to wikipedia, the Romans enthusiastically celebrated birthdays with hedonistic parties and generous presents. In revulsion that the early Christians rejected the practice as inherently pagan. Now, I assume a cake is a hedonistic present.

  • Great job!

  • 4:08 A guy gets stabbed in the crotch

  • 4:21 they depict a complete frenzy, no ranks whatsoever. of course, this is almost completely absurd. especially romans would never have fought like that. maintaining ranks was most important, and plus, romans would have feared leaving the formation and risking their lives.

  • "4:21 they depict a complete frenzy, no ranks whatsoever. of course, this is almost completely absurd. especially romans would never have fought like that."

True enough, but if the battle had been shown accurately it would have been endlessly boring (to an onlooker at any rate). In most cases the casualties were hacked to death over a few hours rather than dying of a single thrust in an exciting one to one duel.

  • i really like the part where antony says "this is how history is made."

it shows his proud character, and also makes us remember that it was few men who commanded many, but it was the many who carved the path for the few.

  • It's weird to hear romans speaking with a british accent, lol. Such posh soldiers xD

  • LOL

I love the music, its amazing

    Gladiator definitely fits with Rome

  • I just thought..sod being the chap in front! "Stop pushing at the back...stop pushing please..now please!" hehe. what a way to go, why i wasent this age then?!

  • This a keeper! I felt sorry for Brutus..just bad. poor chap i'd like to hang onto the Republic a little longer.

  • BUT LOVE THE PART WHEN BRUTAS DIE FOR HIS believe REST OF THEM DIE FOR LUST OF POWER

  • Thank you so much for posting it:)

  • The only thing I didn't like about the show was that it was inaccurate with the deaths of Brutus and Cassius. They were actually both suicides.

  • Not only that....but Cassius died in the first battle....Brutus died in the second...about 3 weeks later on October 23rd.

Also...Brutus and Anthony were good friends. Anthony searched the hills to the north for Brutus' body...and covered it with a purple cloak...(purple!).

The series got that part right though. Brutus really did refuse to join the conspiracy to assasinate Caesar unless the rest of the "Liberatores" agreed to spare Anthonys life.

  • You've made good vids.

But It can be more improved editing.

    it's vexing.

  • Thanks! Yeah it was basically my first try with Windows Movie Maker. I'll look into improving the sound volume + synch issues.

  • Rome was such an awesome series.
