What game were you watching? Ireland were leading by a goal scored in the first half.

perhaps you forget that its over two legs and France won the first 1-0 so the score was actually 1-1. They were tied, and if that goal hadn't counted then it would have been penalties, and then who knows what would happen, but it would be a shame either way.

The only problem I have with handballs is when the players celebrate after. It is the refs responsibility to call it, and disallow the goal, as it could have been an accidental handball (things move pretty fast, reflex, wtva).

im well aware it was 1-0 but they werent leadin! the game is played over 2 games and im sure you and i know that. if it wen to penalty shoot out i would say france had the better advantage in terms of JUST scoring. at most i would say its a 50/50 chance not a potential win for the irish. if the irish had more extra time then the advantage would be on the irish side as their form is better than the french side in team play.

Yep I know that but the fact that if the goal hadn't been allowed it would have gone to penalties, does mean that potentially Ireland could have won and gone through. It's a shame that it never got to that point...if it had and if we'd lost fairly that would have been fine, but it's just the fact that we should have got to that stage but never even had the chance that is a little hard to take on
