@pl0xified1 Yes it does have the subwoofer built in. Well, playing Black Ops on max settings with that configuration is not possible lol, even on 640x480 resolution. The 4650 of my laptop is better and can't run Black Ops, even the 5650 with an i5 and 8GB of DDR3 ram of a friend of mine can't . ;)

@OwnerOwnsAll Hey. Sorry but I don't think that you can run it on high settings. I would try to go for medium settings. A good thing is that you have the quad in your DV7, GTA IV really takes advantage of that.

@xLYRiiCSMASTERRx Hey there. Well it's not easy to find out what your problem might be right now. Did you press the mute button in the media bar by mistake? Is your windows sound very low? Also it coulb be that single programs are set to 0% volume.

@WilliamDCU Hey there. The cooling system is quite good, but I bought an external notebook cooler for hot summer days. I already played MW2 up to 8 hours straight without the cooler as well. The only problem I noticed the last time is that the WASD letters on the keyboard are disappearing. So, don't game too much. ;)

I have the same laptop, and I absolutely love it :) Strangely i think it restored my faith in laptops again (prior I had an Acer Aspire 3050, and before that a really old laptop - both of which pretty much took a dive). The HP DV7 laptop though is wonderful :) I'd recommend it to anyone... until of course the DV9 or whatever is next comes out...

the problem that I have currently is that when I scroll the sound touch sensitive buttons, the on-screen sound bar is not visible , although the sound is turned up or down accordingly. It is kinda annoying

@OwnerOwnsAll Hey, I removed all stickers a few months ago. It's quite easy. I first tried to get them off the usual way, but the stickers left some glue residue. I removed it with nail polish remover. Don't use too much tho. The graphics are imprints and are not on the top ground level of the notebook so you won't touch them. ;) If you have more questions feel free to ask me.

I also got a DV7-3178 with the core i7 with the gforce 230.

The only complaint I have to this moment is that everything is gloss on this laptop so as soon you touch it, it leaves marks everywhere.

The touch pad with the two buttons are chromy and they also mark alot with your finger prints.

Other than that, it seems a killer machine for the price. I would have like to get a 1920X1080 screen though...

In terms of physical size, it's 17.3 inches, which is a bit bigger than the standard 15.4, so it has a nice big screen at a high resolution. Is that what you meant?

Notebook > HDMI > TV > Optical audio > Z5500. So the optical comes from my tv and my TV is getting the audio via HDMI from my notebook.

Interesno. So what about music, then? While it's cool to watch HD movies or DVDs in 5.1, how do you utilize 5 of your speakers to listen to MP3s? On my old Dell laptop I had a Creative Labs sound card that I put into the express slot and 3 audio cables were hooked up to it and to the speakers' console. Too many wires, man. Also, that card has an Optical output for my movies. Strangely, Dell laptop didn't have HDMI.

Music plays through all of the speakers automaticly. Since it's all via the "standard" soundcards it's pretty awesome sound. My Creative Soundcard in my pc is still better, but for a mobile device it's really really good. Also you can manage alot via audio software of the soundcard.

You're welcome, well my uncle has a two year old Pavilion DV7 with an older AMD dual core. It works pretty good, better than I thought. AMD is still a bit slower than the current Intel Dual Cores, but you shouldn't notice a big difference. :) Have fun with your dv7, you will like it.
