I loved the Bass Communion piece in Lips of Ashes so I don´t see why there cant be a drone style to PT just like Lips, as long as it´s not 14 minutes long....
Some artists get depressed because their career has peaked, and they've got nowhere to go but down. PT just keeps climbing up and up... Steven Wilson must be on a high 24/7
my video was taken down by Porcupine Tree LTD. It was a shitty quality phone quality movie of their concert in LA. (los angeeeleees) Pathetic. I bought your albums, I paid for your concert. I gave you tons of free publicity through my friends and channel, and this is what I get. Signed, a former fan
@jahmbo Are you sure that the band has anything to do with your video being taken down? With the schedule they have? It's probably the Record Label or the agency, usually bands does'nt have a lot of say in these matters.
@t3hpez I guess so, but you can put that down to a mix of the estuary accent and cockney :P I guess if you're looking for something you'll find it, so I guess what you're interpreting as Australian I'm interpreting as Estuary :P
Wilson is a modern visionary. One of the few left today. I'm greatful for a man/musician like him and that he just lives for the process of making music.
Wow that's a tasty looking drink at 6:58!! I want one!
Seriously though these guys are amazing, I love listening to Steve Wilson talk, he just speaks so well. I saw this melbourne gig and was blown away :)
i know he seems really intelligent, not like some of the dumbass metal bands like metallica who can't even string a sentence together properly. steven wilson is probably one of my favourite interviewees to listen to after children of bodom haha
metallica are actually pretty intelligent, i just think they swear way too much in interviews. not that i have qualms with swearing but there are times when it makes you sound stupid.
thats when you know that a band really thinks it's important that their preformances are good, when they come to a country a week earlier to be at the top when it's concert time
thankyou roadrunner Australia!! very good informative interview.. Steven Wilson like so many other Progressive artists have so much talent to give to the music industry and i always look forward to hearing new pp
You've also got a big audience in Chile Mr. Wilson and probably you're not aware of that just like you were not aware of mexican or australian audience. But we have years following your music and it's sort of a dream seeing PT performing live at least once in our lives.
Anyways... it is also a dream that you'll ever read this message... roadrunneraustralia... if you really are the label... could you make this message reach until Steven?
2 years ago a friend of mine introduced me into Steven Wilson's music, and I can say that Porcupine Tree has been addictive and magnetic for me (just like the other projects of SW).
Steven, come to Guadalajara, Jal., México, you will be surprised ..... I missed you concert in Mexico City (and I'm still hating myself for that).... :(
can someone please tell me if the new remastered versions don´t change to much from the old original ones? i mean the quallity of the sound and the sound of the instruments themselfes specially the drums cause some remastered versions of old material have the drums like extracted from a synthetizer . please
I have been a fan for a while and starting with Lightbulb Sun I think the recordings have been good. I really like Absentia and Deadwing and F.O.A.B.P. is a continuation of the bands good work.
I also enjoy the interviews that SW does. He really seems to enjoy talking about the work.
listen to some of PTs early stuff as well...pre lightbulb sun and stupid dream pt sounded quite different...the really early stuffs really spacey and psychedelic
This guy is really something. So focused, simple, intelligent, really looks like a nice person, although all the success he has and his obvious capacities... It's an example :) Oh, and he's pretty too :D
sweeat, cheers. I bought the Stupid Dream album the other day, but i bought the rereleased 2005 version of it and didn't know it was actually recorded in 1999, the only other album ive heard in it's entirety is Deadwing, which i definatly prefer over this. Incredible indeed...i rly need to get Deadwing..was the concept or theme behind that??
Rockstafar 3 years ago
It was really layered...
On one hand, every song could be interpreted as a love song in some form or another.
On the other, it was a ghost story.
And on the third (It was a mutant album), it was a valuable analysis of religious and ontological authority.
In short: It was genius.
