I went to Medellin in March 2011 and it is such a nice city... of course there are poor places but its like that in America... brush up on you're Spanish and go... stay in Poblado if you're an American and you're Spanish is basic but if you know really good Spanish or you are fluent you can find places in the center of Medellin.. Poblado is much more safer though!
Man,this is one of the good videos ,about medellin ,i love my city,it is beautiful, but we still have problems, thankfully,we are looking ahead, past forgotten, and thank you very much for do a showing us ,among the world, the regular face of medellin, normal people trying to emerge, live and fight every day...
Medellin is great, is the pure example of how Colombia has changed during the last 25 years, this video shows how Medellin's lower class has changed for good.
Yeah, safe place. It's not like an average of 9 people are murdered there every day, and it's not like the goverment just rescued 5 american prisoners who were held captive for 5 years... Their crime rate is exploding. NOT a safe place for N. Americans.
@xEschatonx Yeah it still has a lot to go, on the other hand, I think it would be a bit harsh to say it is not completely safe to go there, if we base ourselves strictly on stats, we would have to mention cities like: Irvington, NJ, Camden, NJ, Detroit, MI, New Orleans, Gary, Indiana, ST. Louis, MO, Oakland, CA, Flint, MI, Los Angeles, CA and many many more with similar if not WORSE stats…..
@xEschatonx Anywhere you go you have to be careful, all we want is people not to stereotype “Colombia” we are good people and like every country we have our share of scumbags!!! We are just trying to overcome our differences one day at a time…
@xEschatonx I cannot guarantee your security when you come here, but what I can guarantee is that if you do decide to come you will leave with knowledge from a very cultural place, you can visit many places that will simply take your breath away, and you might meet the woman of your dreams, if you don’t already have her, give it a try you might not regret it!
I live in Medellin. I moved to Medellin because of the Islam Problems in my country and in whole Europe. More Europeans moved to Latin America because of the Moslims in Europe. It's more save to live in Medellin than in Europe.
Medellin is beautiful and most of the time the weather is very good. The people are friendly. Medellin is not more Escobar, but it's now the real Latin Life!
If the United States does not renew the free trade agreement you can blame the Democrats---period! The Democrats and Obama are whores! Any Colombian in the United States who votes Democrat is a traitor to their beautiful Colombia! I know as I am American married for over 10 years to a Colombian!
Medellin still is too dangerous, the death tool i the highest in Colombia and among one of the highest in latinamerica. The Pablo Escobar culture is still there. Every guy is a pablito. Tha ladies are ok, but be careful. Too bitches. I wouldnt give them my back.
@youngblk31 ,,,, I'm from medellin, Colombia but i live in Naples, Florida,,,,,,,,,I just wanna to be honest and clear,,,this has nothing to do with me being from there, But Please be sure to go Down there, you and none will have problems or any kind of bad feelings, What you need to do is look all over, every single detail from the city, It is a busy city, a lot of movement 24/7....there are tons of places to go and visit,,, but you always be Safe,,,, Night life is Awesome and the Girls r # 1
Loved Medellin! I was there September - October 2010, and I loved it so much. Food is amazing and cheap (Prices), people are friendly, weather is very balanced, and the women are stunning. If you're a young man in your 20's speaking English, be prepared to get lots of attention from the ladies. Don't worry about crime. Police are freaking everywhere in the city, and I mean everywhere! These cops look more intimidating than American cops but are so much more friendlier and helpful. GO MEDELLIN!
I'm very glad because of the better life of the people of Colombia!!! The movie is great - it gives a very clear view about the ecdonomical courese of the country and how the people are making their living. The colombian example is great for the developing countries hoe the things can get better. I hope one day all people around the wourld will live in peace!
I think the documentary is a bit outdated. Urban violence has gone up significantly in recent years and anybody who reads colombian newspaper knows that. Anyways, Medellin is still a great place and I will be back there soon (lived in Medellin almost three years).
hello, im going to Medellin in december. when i tell people that they immediately tell me about how unsafe it is. this video makes me feel positive about my trip. I would like to hear about it from people have have been there, and even some good places to visit during my stay
@youngblk31 Let me said you something... here in medellin we love when the people of others countries comes here!!!!! we are REALLY nice and SPECIAL with the foreigns! we love see american, europe, asian people walking in our streets. that make feel us special! so dont worry for the coments The only risk is wanting to stay!! Ok soo u can visit el metro, pueblito paisa, santa fe de antioquia, parque lleras we have many places where are you from????
Nice segment.. and very balanced.. Though there are still issues in Medellin, it is improving and really is a great place to visit and even live. Globalization is a mixed bag, to say the least, but it's good to see something positive. Nice work.
I love the city of Medellin. I have been there four times. While Medellin is a very, veru beautiful city, with the hardest working people one could ever meet; let us be real....there is plenty of construction and new banks everywhere....and this isn't only from globalization....Medellin is still laundrying money....This was the same formula that allowed Miami and Tampa Bay to build there skylines.....
As an American gringo that has gone to medellin 3 times and plans to move there, let me just tell you that I feel more at risk for violence in Tampa, FL than I do in medellin. Medellin is a gem of a city! Let the euro's and americans think what they want....less gringos there when I go! yehhaw!
Free trade makes both countries more affluent. Congress should approve a free trade agreement with Colombia. Colombia is a great country with great people.
I am from Medellín, and let me tell you something that version of Medellín is the official version, the true is that Medellín still having a lot of problems like security an labor issues, but the biggest problem is that we dont want to accept it we atill want to believe that those days of violence are over but nothig far from true. a lot of people dies everyday in Medel´lín because of violence. we have to stop hidding our problems and face them for onces
