How is the keyboard on the machine is there allot of flex? For example you push down on the L key or a number on the number pad and it feels like part of the keyboard is flex in addition to the key depressing)

I purchased the previous 17" vostro for my parents and it was very bad for this.

Also how is the case of the unit. Does it feel ruggedly built. Again last model of the Vostro 17" had allot of flex in the case. I could cause a noticeable twist in the case when flexed from opposite ends.

Thanks for your question. next. 1- I haven't installed to windows xp. but, DELL give you about Vostro 3700 drivers for XP now. 2- screen is good. but It made for WORK. so not enuogh. and it just 1600x900 pixel. It's not 1920x1080. I don't know how often have you seen Full HD video. But, If you usually watch FULL HD (1920x1080 pixel), Its not for you. 3- usually I use with AC adapter.

Your laptop monitor supports 1600* 900 which is not full hd! As far as i know there is no other option unless you change your laptop monitor!

Well.. Hardware design is pretty good.

but BIOS (software design) setting menu is... TOO SIMPLE. You can not change to setting. anything. (you can find my another video. It explain to BIOS menu)

@abunjahal you can. any computer that will run windows7 will also run window xp. All you need to do is format and boot from the windows xp cd.

Of course you can install windows xp, i think you can find the drivers for xp.

i suggest you. do not remove your windows 7 . just make a new partion in order to install windows xp.

windows 7 is really better than xp, but if you really need windows xp you have two options

1) install windows xp

2) you can install virtual box on your windows 7 and install windows xp on your virtual box.

2. well... exactly this system is not for a game. but. It's okay. no problem. GT330M graphic card has a good performance for 3D games. (you can search 3D game playing movie of this) BUT If you want to 3D GAMES. you can choice another machine. for example. XPS series and Studio series. They're batter to 3700.

3. AND VOSTRO 3700 IS TOO HOT !!!!! for 3D games. If you play over 2hours, than your left hand will be burn.

I am interested in this laptop and I have two questions: 1. Is the noise of the fan a problem with this computer or is it decently silent? 2. How is the qualitiy of the display? Is it brilliant, exact and bright? I often read long text passages and need a good and brilliant display for that. Thanks a lot for the info!

well.. 1. 3700 isn't SILENT. but not bad. 2. 1600x900 pix. LCD., color ? just not bad. yes, bright. but. sometimes I had confuse from saw the GRAY color.. but no problem.

If you played 3D game over 1hour, (I played FIFA 2010) then It made hot to your left hand.

But, it never hasn't hang-up. And It have a GOOD perfomance.

You can verify about another video in youtube.

And.. yes. Vostro 3700 can upgrade to 8G ram. (ddr3, 1333Mhz)

I have 4G (2Gx2). But I think Windows 7 x64 needs 6G or more memory.

I used ADOBE photoshop. and Premiere CS4. but they are too heavy. !

this maybe a stupid question, does the gt 330m come with ddr2 or ddr3? i know that the memory is ddr3, but sometimes awkwardly (like in my hp) the gpu is a ddr2 when system mem is ddr3. Thanks alot, it would make my purchase alot easier
