Actually I recently came across an article about the feline virus T. gondii. Toxoplasma has been found in studies, can produce psychotic symptoms similar to those displayed by persons with schizophrenia. And although this video doesn't say so, I suspect that's what they're studying. And why the mouse isn't afraid. Look it up, it's creepy.

I love science and all, but what is the purpose of taking away an animals fear of it's natural predator? Make them easier to hunt?

From the looks of it though, seems most cats chase mice just because mice run from them.

That too. It may be for the thrill of the chase. I guess that is true when it is a well fed housecat. Anyway, a cat is a predator to a mouse as a human is a predator to everything else. If only this injection were given to humans.

The cat in the video is a domesticated cat (and probably well fed too), so it's a lot less likely to pounce on the mouse, as most cats would if presented with food that walks up to you.

Anyway, the results of this experiment are obviously not what we would call a final product. It mostly shows that fear of certain things, which was traditionally considered learned behaviour, may actually be, in some cases, genetic.
