While I'm surprised that this is one of the most viewed videos on carpet cleaning, It is good to see a company try to explain restorative techniques, or at least one type of technique. The fact remains: hot water extraction is not the be all, end all, but a good place to start. If the carpet is thrashed, then the trick is to make it as clean as possible and to dry it as quickly as possible to avoid the inevitable "soil wicking" that might mar the final appearance.
@BenRuble Hey Barney Rubble or BenRuble I've read your posts and other then calling everyone idiots you don't bring to much to the table. Go back to selling your kerby vacuums in your mom's basement. As far as which carpet cleaning method to use, they all have there benefits it just depends on the cleaner and what solution is used.
For carpet you need to change your bonnet, and for best results do not use the same size bonnet as your buffer, if that is a 19 inch you need a 21 inch pad.
Paulburr you obviously worked for a crappy company. That did not teach you very well. And probably had poor quality equipment. EcoPro Carpet Care has complete dry times of just under 2 hrs
Why isn't there a hefty bumper on that cleaning machine??? This video shows a room with rustic furniture, but if they banged that thing against my expensive antique furniture the way they banged it against the bureau in this video, heads would roll.... And it's rather pointless to show a cleaning machine at work on a perfectly clean carpet; honestly, what's the point?... I think I'd pass on this cleaning service....
Having recently been asked to do an extraction clean for a customer as they were not happy with the results of a bonnet clean I do believe that the bonnet method is only good for a maintenance clean between extraction cleans.
There is NO WAY I would use a buffer on my customers carpet. It will permanatly distort the carpet. You should never use brut force on any fabric. If you get the chemistry right, you will never have to beat a carpet into submission. May I recomend buffer rehab? 33 years experience

If you need a carpet cleaner, advice or for general information on carpet and upholstery cleaning see all the w'ssussexcarpetcleaners dotcom I found a great carpet cleaning company on there, not affiliated but on their recommendations.
Bonnet cleaning is an 'in between' clean that can work really well if done by a professional. Its fast dry times make it an ideal option for some situations.
In saying that, in my opinon carpet should have a full restorative clean once every 12 months using an 5 - 8 stage deep hot water extraction method.
I suggest everyone in the industry do a complete course on carpet cleaning, not just your in house training that teaches you your way is the best. You need to understand how the carpet is made and how to clean different types of carpet.
As i understand most north american carpet are mainly nylon with olefin backing? Which means there is no fibre there that really absorbs moisture there, what this means is that by dumping lots of hot water in there the glue actually absorbs water and breaks away from the primary and secondary backings. So you can't overwet the carpet and need to dry it as fast as possible.
Down here in New Zealand we have lots of wool carpet with a jute backing which means the wool fibre can absorb a lot more of the moisture than the olefin & nylon carpets, so the glue on the backing does not come away.
Another note form this video is your spotter sprays are sitting on the customers dresser! These can leave permanent marks (I learnt this the hard way), buy yourself a spotting kit and kep all your spotters in there.
hahaha, thebrickinator says bonnets only clean the tips of carpet, sooo wrong...take a look at my before and after pics, more to come for all non-believers~
i see someone compared cleaning carpets to cleaning a shirt..hahahaha well i guess u could if the carpet wasnt tacked down laying against a dirty pad- low moisture cleaning focuses on cleaning the fibers of the carpet not soaking the pad so it can wick up shit thats been their since 1980 dumbshit- in this demo the rep is working a little too fast but its just a demo ...
it does not void the warrenty. on the warrenty panthlet there is a spot for an expert technician to sign that states that they re applied protection. then it is still valid
Hey justincase2200 hot water extraction does not void the guarantee, it must be done by a professional with a truck mount if you do it yourself with a store bought portable, it voids the warranty because store machines just dump water (like pouring a hot cup of water back and forward) and their suction sucks doesnt suck that dirty water out properly
If you wanted to clean a dirty shirt, would you take a rag and rub it all over the shirt and say, "There..it's clean!" or would you put it in your washer which would wash it with soap and water, then rinse it with softened water and dry. Bonnet cleaning takes dirt and just spreads it all over the carpet. Shaw Industries, the largest carpet manufacturer in the U.S. clearly states that the ONLY recommended cleaning system that will not void their warranties is Hot Water Extraction.
Hot water extraction voids the guarantee. It separates the backing and rots out the padding. It was designed by the carpet manufacturers to make the carpet re-soil and shorten the life of the carpet. It was a way to get rid of durable goods around the great depression. look up your facts people. bonnet buffing doesn't work but circular dry foam does.
Hey look everybody, justincase2200 knows more than the carpet manufactures do about their own carpet. Listen man, you need to quit with your lies. Your constantly refer to a bogus consumer testing study. Give it up you worthless piece of sh*t.
I have seen many different videos from this guy and he does do hot water extraction. I think he already did the extraction and was just going over it with a bonnet to pick up more moisture and residual dirt.
I like how the guy banged into the dresser and they also have there tools leaning against the door. Not expert if you ask me. That thing only pushes the dirt around.
u need to use a brush yo , and ur guy is going to fast plus PUT THE CORD OVER HIS SHOULDER AND OUT OF YOUR WORK AREA premium service? u should just wet scrub suck repeat dry
You have described a very useful method for cleaning carpet. However I have know idea why your using that bonnet with the turf size loops. You need to use the bonnets with the 1.5 inch cotton absorbent loops. That bonnet has a much larger surface area that can absorb more solution and more dirt and oils. This is the professional way to do the floors. I've been involved in this for 25 years.
