Tolkien's creation of mithril in Lord of the Rings as the mythical metal that is impervious to everything, affording the bearer complete protection. Thus the creators of this series called the fictional mercenary group "mithril" to symbolize their supposed tactical superiority and toughness.

Don't worry. there is another season in progress. here is what i know: half of Mithril is destroyed, the Arbalest is destroyed but the A.I and Lambda driver are salvaged and made into a new robot. i forget it's name. In the meantime you might try some other anime like it. I recommend S.T.R.A.I.N.

actually the second raid is the direct sequel to the original fmp. fumoffu is just a companion series that focuses on being a romantic comedy. the ONLY mecha in fumoffu is a human sized armor suit that looks like a teddy bear.

Fumoffu is more of group of fun and silly side stories in between the first season and 2nd Raid.

You don't really need to watch it to follow the storyline- however, the 2nd Raid is even more serious and dark than the first season, so watching fumoffu before might be a good idea, while the fun and silly part of FMP is still on your mind from the first season.
