  • I don't understand how people think that someone yelled one foot. I doubt she would have even heard them or had time to process the thought before she even landed if that happened. Besides she did have a serious ankle injury, she wouldn't have wanted to land on her bad foot anyways.

  • kerri strugg did indeed strugg

  • omg, i remember this moment so clear. she is my hero, for real

  • If she hadn't done that second vault she may have been able to compete and medal in the event finals and all around. But truth is that lots of athletes have won medals but only one, Kerri Strug has done an one foot vault - and that's why people will always remember her

  • All I remember is that if Dominique Moceanu had not landed flat on her butt during her vault, Kerri would not have even had to make this vault that took her out of the all-around and event finals competitions. It was a courageous sacrifice for the team gold, but an avoidable one.

  • How did this only get a 9.712? Did they deduct for the landing? It's a surprisingly fantastic vault, all things considered. Great height, distance, good form--and I think she would have stuck it cold if her ankle had been healthy.

  • I remember I thought all crowds were like this in the olympics. The atlanta crowd was sooooo loud!!!

  • spectacular! *z-snap*

  • sounds like: 'it's good, c'mon' to me..it's just after her block while she's in flight so would make sense

  • She did it for her team and for herself. Period. Has she ever spoke out against doing the second vault? No! She was a pretty brave woman.

  • Magnificent 7 .... K Strug!!!!

  • I was in the second grade watching this and I still remember it like it was yesterday.. she was every little gymnast's hero that year! :)

  • God shut up, someone is yelling, "GO FOR IT, C'MON!"

  • it says come on do it.. nice try tho

  • it says: COME ON, SCORE!

  • makes me cry every time

  • it does sound like someone shouted "One foot!" !!

  • @bbhouk1 Sounds more like, 'come on, do it' to me...

  • I remember the 96 Olympics in ATL very well. Kerri's ankle was already injured prior to the vault. She didn't have to go out there and injure it more than it already was. That just showed that heart was in it. And for that, she along the U.S. team took the gold and garnered the name "The Magnificent Seven".

  • @LilPetit and it turns out later after the competition, becuase the russians fell, she didnt need to do the second vault after all

  • @LilPetit actually they were called the Magnificent Seven BEFORE the Olympics, but I agree with your other comments

  • WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

  • WOW!

  • Holy crap, you can not fake that. that was great!

  • You idiots. It was not fake. Only idiots would think this is fake.

  • You do realize that if someone HAD shouted "one foot" before she landed, that she would have gotten a zero for that vault and the Americans wouldn't have even medaled. Gymnasts cannot receive assistance from anyone while they're performing, that includes vault.

And, government conspiracy cover up? Really? Are you sure you're not just a little bit paranoid?

  • @itstheapocalypse but she didn't take the "one foot" advice if thats even what the person said (sounds like "come on, do it!" to me). she landed on both feet and then pulled one up.

  • @LMA629 Yeah, exactly.

  • Someone shouted "come on, do it!" -_-

  • Willsbob123 you are totally right. people are dumb

  • @lisapizza16 Paha! I know right :L

  • i don't think they said one foot, i think it was her coach saying "you can do it" or something like that.

  • no. they said "go for it"

  • I get goosbumps every time. For those of you who argue about whether it was fake injury or not, well, adrenaline can do amazing things.

  • shes remarkable

  • This moment tied for 1st as the best gold medal vault in US Women's Gymnastics history. The first being Mary Lou Retton.

  • Ummm, she kinda didn't fake it because it was proven that she did have an injury. It shows her ankle during the Individual AA at one point. Her ankle is distorted.

  • I don't want to believe this either but when I noticed how she immediately collapsed on top of her "injury", it looked a little suspect to me.

She WAS taken for x-rays. However, x-rays can only confirm breaks and seperations. A tear (just like back and neck injuries) will not produce a discernable image on an x-ray and are treated based upon the patients account of the injury. So, it wasn't "proven".

Watch it again and tell me why you think she did that to her ankle if it was hurt?

  • superque4, EVERYBODY who saw this gold medal winning moment knows for a FACT that she severely hurt her ankle. I can't believe you won't believe something that actually happened almost 13 years ago. WHY would Kerri Strug fake an injury in a sport where injuries are NOT uncommon?

  • All I'm asking is that you look at the video and answer the question. I thought the same as you until someone asked me: why would she did that to her ankle if it was hurt? What is your answer?

  • Ummm I think you should always know what my answer should be. She did in fact severely damage her ankle. I remember the video well enough, the AA.

  • You had replied to me saying Kerri had a moderate sprain, and where did I see the brusing on her ankle... what "FRAME" was it in.... blah blah blah. FIRST OF ALL, type in 96 gymnastics All Arounds, and watch part one from the VERY BEGINNING and there is your answer. It was a severe sprain. I TRULY ONE HUNDRED PERCENT do not think she would "FAKE" her injury and miss out on the All Arounds, her last chance to do so at any Olympic games.

  • @superque4 She obviously was in pain, why would she fake an injury and risk an olympic gold. If you watch he first vault you can see her roll her ankle, it was broken but severly sprained. Also if you watch the all around from the next night, they show her sitting with her ankle unwrapped and it is swollen and purple. That's not something you can fake.

  • @superque4 Are you serious? There were doctors' statements that she had a serious ankle injury - a third degree sprain and bad tendon damage. Are you a doctor? Do you have proof that she did not in fact have an injury? I didn't think so. Now shut up and enjoy one of the most inspiring Olympic moments in history.
