  • wow this looks really innovative. I am really liking this. But apple fans are freaks. They wont leave to go to microsoft windows 8.

  • when does this come out?

  • @benito213 this month

  • This is the first tablet UI that I actually considered leaving my iPad for. It's so smooth.

  • looks like ill be switching to something other then windows now

  • @TheBen1011agent the desktop is still there. that start screen replaces the start menu. You think you'll be switching but you wont.

Everyone said that about windows 7 when the task bar got bigger and removed program names from it. Now look, its over taken windows XP as the most used operating system world wide.

  • @chuninuzomaki xp is better then 7 always will be

  • @TheBen1011agent O_o is something really wrong with you? Seriously you must be running an ancient machine

  • @chuninuzomaki actually im running a high end machine with windows 7.

  • @TheBen1011agent How can you say XP is better? you dont have a supported 64 bit version of it and most applications are dropping support for it.

There's somethings that I call High end, I have a decent configured machine, some would call it high end, I wouldn't

  • @chuninuzomaki i call high end when you have atleast a quad core of 3.0ghz a harddrive with atleast 500gb a graphics with atleast 1gb ram of atleast 8gb. and 7 just uses to much resourses

  • @TheBen1011agent What I call high end is SLI/CF with 4 cores minimum, an SSD boot drive, 2 1TB drives for storage, all SATA 3 6Gbps.

XP doesn't recognize 4GB+ of RAM, and no DX11 support. You change your phone, you change your clothes, you change your toothbrushes, but you won't change your software....

  • 1:33 PageUp and PageDown? Thats like one of the many keys i have never pressed..

  • @Zaudon95 scroll lock works too ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @rendeltabilog I choose both, so take that sucker

  • @chuninuzomaki yes because windows 8 or 7 is higher in gaming than mac...but in features mac is higher than windows....i never mind it because im using windows 7 lol

  • wow mis ojos se deleitan... "no lo nececito pero lo quiero" jeje

ire de inmediato por mi dell inspiron duo, sino donde uso el win8 jaja

    :)

  • You obtuse pieces of flotsam. This a game changer for Microsoft. This new UI/UX is innovative and not a "me too" development. Windows Phone and code name "Windows 8" will differentiate themselves from the market and will be a success!

  • I'm actuall kinda pissed about this. I don't want a shit tier smartphone UI for a desktop PC. This looks like it is going to be the worst thing microsoft has created since BOB. Well It looks like I'm getting a new macbook.

  • Windows 7 is great, I love it. But I do not want a fucking iPad ripoff on my desktop computer, even apple know better than to do that. That's why Mac OS X looks so different to iOS.

  • How many years has IE been integrated and pushed on us and it's always been a shittier browser by far. Less customizable and that fucking bling shit needs to go.

  • I want to see them demoing it for serious work though: 10 programs open across three monitors. I'm not entirely sold on the usefulness of the new UI for actual work.

  • @ITzG00B4R12 you have issues don't you?

  • @davvyk

    I AGREE,, THIS SUCKS

  • @davvyk

  • Well I'm used to MOBILE DEVICES NOT SUPPORTING .EXE"S UNTIL NOW

  • As I'm a FCP editor my computers are all Apple, as with my iPhone. However, I'm open minded when it comes to technology.. You have to be! This Win8 looks really nice and I hope it will give apple something to seriously think about for future designs of iOS and their hardware. Well done Microsoft!

  • @FCPWHAT True! IMHO, the multi-polar world (Apple, MS) is better than 1 global system. Let it be :)

  • It kinda reminds me of Windows Mediacenter... I hate it. I also don't like the fullscreen apps. I want to see which apps are currently running in the background. ---> Taskbar in appmode.

    I like my WP7 though :)

  • Comment removed

  • Does this support .exe's

  • @qwex11 obviously it does...

  • I'm excited for this since I just bought a slate. I think it will be great for touch. I hope it works as well as demonstrated.

  • No more windows, I m sure they don't show you ugly side of win8, and will see how many patches after official release.

  • ipad 2 is sooo much better than this shit.

  • LION>Windows 8. 8 is a complete disappointment.

  • @virajajmeri really? flash for ipad? how am i suppose to actually get shit done if your a student? windows is obviously aiming for this type of computing /watch?v=aPwI7_M4cg8

smart asses mention "if i wanted a laptop than i would of bought a laptop" fucking sound like spoiled girls.

and now suddenly everyone forgot that ipad is just a big ass ipod

i hate hate the ipad, i love the iphone, wish i had one. but as far as tablets, windows 8 is the way to go.

it has all forms of computing all in 1

  • @livesince1985 oh yeah i forgot that all you media teenagers are all driven by cute little cydia tweaks and changing your themes cause what you have is not good enough and your fucking bored with your lives.

  • @livesince1985 who the fuck tlaking about ipads and shit, dipshit. I'm talking about the operating system for a PC. Consumers that prefer mouses and do hardcore video graphics. I didn't say ios5>windows 8. Read.

  • @virajajmeri oh you wonna play games.

so how many games did you play on windows 8?

  • @livesince1985 you're an idiot.

  • This may get the chance that linux needs to grow.

  • Perhaps they should add a few of these features for Windows Phone 7. I can only hope that the Mango update throws in a few of these...

  • THIS IS FUCKING RETARDED . nobody even likes touch screen computers .

  • I hope android is watching this NO LAG Android tablets are horrible when it comes to lag

Second note... I'm an apple fan I will admit it I have an iphone and an Imac and I'm very happy with both... I must admit this looks amazing

  • It looks like some PC version of the Brady Bunch.

  • im scared for the future. it seems more like a cluttery highly colorful apple or android tablet add on rather than windows i like the the whole old school icon shtuff with a home screen that doesnt have apps but rather programs that i can double click to start. win 7 seems fine to me but if they keep old school and allow you to switch between the two im sure it cant be that bad.

  • I wonder if Ziggy Marley know's his music is in this video..Microsoft should pay copyrights for that..i,m gonna tell on them !!!

  • this is is disturbing. really they arent making a windows 8 but rather a windows seven add-on, how disappointing :(

  • Also is there a way to see a list of the apps and I never saw how you close an app

  • I'm wondering how you choose a specific app, hope you don't have to slide all the apps until the one you which ?

  • If you have ever used Windows Xp Media Center, Windows Vista Ultimate Media Center or Windows 7 Ultimate Media Center app, this interface is familiar. It may appear touch centric, but it works equally well with mouse gestures or the arrow keys, as they state many times. I have enjoyed the Media Center interface and use it throughout my home. This is an AWESOME new OS!

  • Bye bye ipad.

At last a tablet that is interesting.

  • Very nice

  • @2rocksalot2 Dude, Apple is SHIT!, Windows, always was, is and will always continue being the ultimate OS, stop hating and appreciate, i bet your already thinking who to sell your iphone 4 with no portable ms office and xbox live games for a cheap future windows 8 laptop. FYI touch is the future. Microsoft and Google are the best, Android, Windows, Xbox, Chrome, Freedom!. Beat that Apple. and O, Western digital has My Book Live, goodbye icloud. Windows Forever!.

  • ..."The MOST IMPORTANT app of all is the BROWSER... IE 10 is OPTIMIZED FOR TOUCH..." well frack me silly, I still use a DESKTOP PC with a MOUSE, and 2 monitors, so now what? Am I fracked if I upgrade?? Enough with the "touch this and touch that, and app this and app that" I just want to use my desktop and mouse to keep working, surfing and playing games.

  • This is like a multimonitor setup with one monitor. Nice.

  • much better than apple's crappy iOS. Everything makes sense now.

  • @adolfphuslau Apple Mac is fantastic but iOS just fails my expectations.

  • Comment removed

  • so dumb

  • I find it funny how the real windows 8 videos you can't add comments. What is microsoft afraid of? Obviously the "Apps" of which they speak of came from-oh Apple, and the "swipe"-oh "Multitasking" from Apple. Why doesn't Microsoft come up with their own ideas instead of using Apples ideas from 3 years ago?? And stop trying to pass it on as their own-please- its not only sad, it's embarrassing!

  • Idk what all the hate is about. This OS looks incredible. Innovative, fast, and most of all, USEFUL. Apple trolls, GTFO!

  • @xTRICKYxx

Apple Trolls? I never used any Apple device and I think Windows 8 is CRAP!

  • @0xNEVVG3N How?? It is Windows 7 + an optional overlay. If you have a non-tablet the mobile overlay would be disabled. Meaning if you hated Windows 7, you will hate Windows 8. Windows 8 will look a lot like Windows 7. And I hope you know, Windows 7 is one of the best OS's ever created.

  • @xTRICKYxx

No it's not, the Windows 7 that's going to be in Windows 8 has been optimized for touch screens and many features have been removed, it's basically a sub program within this 'new' crappy Windows 8 UI, and the only reason they kept it is because M$ haven't ported all of their programs to the new Windows 8 UI, this is their way of phasing Windows 7 out.

Win 7 is a Desktop UI, Win 8 is a Smartphone UI, you can't mix both of them together, it doesn't work, Desktops will NEVER die.

  • @0xNEVVG3N Hahaha, and you know this how? Microsoft would never remove a bunch of featured just to optimize it for tablets. The full environment will run.

  • Wow!

  • @ubber13 You mean iOS?

  • And still most windows users will be on XP. :P

  • What a mess. Microsoft is shooting itself in the foot. Steve Jobs is probably looking at this and laughing. Windows 8 is definitely not my idea.

  • Fuck this I'm gettin a mac instead

  • Microsoft great works.

Windows 8: multisystem, desktop, touchscreen, tablet....

  • osx 10.7> windows 8

  • lol it just looks like they have tried too hard, they should have stuck with windows 7. Windows 8 just looks hard to find your way aroud and messy overall. Dissapointed. But nice vid dude! :D

  • windows 8 = FAIL!

  • I may be wrong but I have a feeling Windows 8 will be very dumbed down, I don't want a social networking OS with touch eye candy Microsoft, I want a full desktop, productive and a powerful OS, like Windows 7 is.

  • Follow up comment: Okay so I thought it was leaked but I guess not, I haven't been keeping up with the whole Windows 8 thing.

  • Windows 7 was dropped in October 2009, and Microsoft themselves have specifically said they want windows 7 to last as long as possible. If Windows 8 was leaked this early, I would assume it would be a side release to Windows 7 for tablets and touch enabled devices.

  • This will be the biggest mistake in MS history...

  • Win 8 sux wow!

  • just takes up more RAM no problem there....

this is like windows phone turned into a tablet, kinda like how apple just turned the iphone into the ipad. its the same thing its just bigger...

  • This SUCKS!!! It's not even "windows" anymore...

  • youtube.com/watch?v=foVcbsy1Mmw

  • Do NOT like the UI

  • @javier29m90 you swipe left to right to switch ( if using tablet) but other than that on normal pc you would do what you would normally do

  • Basically this is just windows last chance to catch up with apple. Good luck apple you will need it.

  • I didn't NEED to scroll over and select a tile before I could look at my freakin' weather apps! In Windows Vista there was a freakin' SIDEBAR where you could put your apps and they were ALWAYS visible!

  • @richard20bris That sidebar also sucked ass.

  • It's basically Windows 7 with a resource hungry app manager.

  • @nullins You are beyond clueless. It's not even close to Windows 7 dumbass. Microsoft has ripped the Windows 7 Kernel down to it's very basic form, and made it leaner, lighter, faster, more efficient, and less resource intensive. They've also drastically reduced the size of the kernel. They did the same thing with Windows 7, and that's why it's one of the most stable OS ever.

Windows 8 is not Windows 7. You'd be a fool to think that. This is also not a app manager. It's a UI that is integrated.

  • @HTHAMMACK1

    Source please.

  • Unless I'm missing something, I believe they are putting this on desktops, correct? This seems more like a touch centric ui. They could be shooting themselves in the foot. Many controls seem only assessable with touch. This also seems less productive than windows 7

  • @2rocksalot2 they say its also optimized for keyboard and mouse. doesnt matter anyway you dont have to use the new shell, its just an added extra for everyone

  • @metalman134 I see what you mean im just worried they might be changing too much> we'll see though

  • @2rocksalot2 you can switch between a touch screen UI or your traditional UI. It all depends on the device your using.

  • @2rocksalot2 not to mention that this will be available in 2012... imagine this w8 vs iOS7 and android 8.. on mobiles.. r.i.p microsoft

  • @2rocksalot2 a click of a mouse is no different than a tap with your finger. This sort of interface could easily have been introduced without touch support. The touch aspect is sort of like an extension that is being added to windows because of all the touch-enabled devices now. Anything a finger can do a mouse can do as well.

They are introducing the touch in such a way that you don't actually need it to use this version of windows but if you do have a touch device you can use windows 8.

  • @2rocksalot2

    You ARE missing something

This IS for touch and you CAN have the older function as well ( windows 7)

As someone stated, its an ADDITIONAL function, not a replacement.

  • @2rocksalot2 The controls will be mouse sensitive as well, to come up when you position the mouse over the edges! Amazing, isn't it?

  • It makes sense. You can use new desktop or old version or even both at the same time. It's truley cross platform without losing anything. Just gaining something new as well.

  • @captaincrash12 the new interface is likr the Windows Media Center we have now.

  • @theQhozt

Also your acting like you won't be able to play games or stuff like that when you will, you'll have mouse and keyboard support you'll just have touchscreen support too on compatible computers. so if anything games will be better because they might have some touchscreen support and probably be smoother.

  • @theQhozt

You will have a choice on whether you want the old style or the new type style, they're not doing a complete change to the new style it's just an option, and if you have a touchscreen pc/laptop/tablet the UI will be great because you'll be able to use both

  • He didn't said ANY thing about GAMING ..

  • 4:11 why are they clapping. sure they are still open, but I want the bar on the bottom, the start button in the bottom left and the desktop in the middle. that's what windows is...

  • I got my phone to check out all theese things.... i don't need another device...

  • every company is taking what other companies have to the next level, so nothing is original... had an old-windows based htc with swipe capability before iphone came out...and it was pretty cool...touchscreen & swipe werent invented by apple, apple just made 'em sooooo much better, app store wasnt invented by apple, if you know getjar.com, it'd been in existence waaaaaay before app store, but again apple just run it sooooo much better....

  • From what we have seen until now i think windows 8 is gonna SUCK! What about gamers!?!? and people that don't care about you fucking swipe feature you stole from apple? FU microsoft.... i think i'll stick with w7

  • @TheQhozt: it is a "normal OS", but they have just added a touch dimension.

  • @TheQhozt swipe wasnt stolen from apple, apple just improved it times a million bajillion heh. I'm sure Microsoft will discuss gaming and such at their developers conference later this year.

  • @CellphoneTL Still looks like crap and i don't see it being usefull at all

  • @TheQhozt Your dumb ass hell!

Windows 8 has a multi-OS look that means you can switch to desktop mode faster than you can say switch

and what swipe? lmao take a look at ubuntu before saying it belongs to apple you dumbass

and don't worry you idiot games will be the same for windows 8 but the will have better support like hardware detection! if your pc sucks and the game way to high for your system than windows 8 will try to adjust it self so it can run the games at it best!

  • @SamuraiM0 I do other things than gaming too... i just don't need this waste of space on my hdd just keep the old taskbar style, or make it a CHOICE how you want your desktop to look... then i don't really care because this just seems stupid to me

  • @TheQhozt deal with it!

It's gone take what 6 a 10 extra gb on your 1 TB HDD xD

Lmao, I work partime at a pc shop and srsly hdd these days cost nothing the are getting cheaper and cheaper!

and the same with SSD pricey at the moment but give it 2 a 3 years and it will be the new standard

your making a scene for nothing...

those features wil be useless for tablets or all in one pc's but if your a hardcore gamer you will have no problems to! TRUST ME ON THIS!

  • suck it apple

  • I see Facebook, Twitter and the weather at a glance as gadgets. New e-mails appear at the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I have a large, attractive wallpaper image, the ability to organise hundreds of icons on one desktop, a file organiser tray named 'start', where my most frequently used programs are kept and a mouse and keyboard that offers pin point screen precision, perfect for creative work. My app store is websites run by developers.

I don't like where Windows 8 is going.

  • @Culstrand That's because it IS unfinished. We're still months, if not a year away from release. I would expect the standard Windows UI to change dramatically. Also, all it would take is for programmers to write Windows 8 tailored apps and they wouldn't use the standard UI anymore.
