Oh dear. After being a fan of the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares I thought I`d give this a whirl. Feeling totally contrived, this program feels more like an epsiode of that awful storm sories on the weather channel with Gordons narration being dropped in favour of bland, generalised commentary. The program felt like it came from nowhere and went nowhere displaying none of the insight into the process of change normally shown on UKKN. Utter crap.
TOTALLY STAGED! If I was Ramsay and I was 'coaching' him, I'd be standing there going 'Come on! This is Bollocks!' This is a good example of how a lot of these failing restaurants are 'owner's ego'-oriented rather than customer-oriented. The Walnut Tree Inn episode in the UK version is another good example of a restaurant business going down the toilet as a result of the owner stubbornly refusing to adapt.
I hate how in the American version Ramsey doesn't go back a month or two after he left. I really liked seeing what happened to the different British restaurants and think they should have kept that.

TOTALLY STAGED! If I was Ramsay and I was 'coaching' him, I'd be standing there going 'Come on! This is Bollocks!' He needs to go back to his formula of REALITY that was used in the UK instead of this fake drama and acting in the US version. I won't watch any of the NY episodes based on this one. Thank goodness we get BBC America on cable because I can't watch this crap he made for the US market.

Please tell me that this restaurant is not still in full operation! This guy was a failure to begin with! I'm sorry. Something I've learned with my cooking, don't be so hurt when someone doesn't like it. Because more than half of the time, if they don't like it, neither do the costumers!

This is a good example of how a lot of these failing restaurants are 'owner's ego'-oriented rather than customer-oriented. The Walnut Tree Inn episode in the UK version is another good example of a restaurant business going down the toilet as a result of the owner stubbornly refusing to adapt.

The stories go into more detail and the scenes aren't as shortened. You learn a lot more about the businesses this way I think.

Well the sad truth is that LA is full of people just like Sebastian. Half of the people that are there seeking sucess are pretty smart and a small fraction actually has real talent but there is a huge contingent that are just clueless dreamers. Sebastian is a tragic example of the latter.

I gotta say, as an american, I enjoy the UK episodes A LOT more than the US episodes. The US version is just too....hmm...I guess I'll say too FOX. Like Ramsay says "keep it simple", FOX just spiced it up too much.

But hopefully this part of his life will make him see that and spur him on to be better at everything, including for his children. We all have those moments scattered through our lives...and hopefully we learn and grow from them. Ps. 12 Michelin stars is an incredible feat for Gordon, a real driven, passionate, talented man.

Yes it was strange one minute Sebastian looked like he was going for a gun, then suddenly he was crying like he discovered his long lost son. I thought I missed a couple of scenes.
It was the sheer ridiculousness of his comments like 'world wide franchise' of his crap ideas, he thought he'd won the argument because Gordon was speechless.
He had great staff and I hope they found a better employer.
Truth is that Sebastian is a thick twat, better he's closed.

For the uninformed -- Sebastian's did close in January, so Gordon was right and Sebastian was wrong and is now licking his wounds. So yes, it does pay to listen to Gordon sometimes -- I mean he has like seven Michilin Stars, so he must know something, right?

It may just be me. However I think Sebastian's unique menu concept is close to perfect in both idea and conception.
He is right, there is nothing anywhere like it.
Someone had to have built the first computer ever, now they are standard.
I believe Sebastian's menu idea/concept/inception is and will be something that will become the norm among the truly UP AND COMERS in the world of food.
Ramsey knowns in his heart of hearts that one day he will adopt this style of menu.
